Still early morning, the sun was still coming up and Ba'kru was living to his species' nocturnal habit. His eyes were awake, looking all around. Below the tree he rested within was the female he had found company in. Though he got little sleep, he was perfectly fine with his current sleeping schedule. The dark leopard swung his paws over the branch and slowly descended down below, landing lightly beside the female cheetah.
Smiling softly, he looked over her lean, lithe body of ebony darkness, designed with wings of the moon butterflies. Upon her face was yet another pair of wings... like a mask. What an interesting cheetah she was... no spots... no tear marks, it was almost hard to believe she was one at times... or at least at first.
Sitting beside Alula and she being asleep. It gave him some time to think about what had transgressed over the pass few moons. Alula. Himself. His behaviors. His Actions...
It was a strange feeling.

A few days had passed since Alula first ran into Ba'kru. After their initial meeting, they had been together and separate at various times during the day. Regardless, the ebony cheetah still kept her word and stayed with the leopard. She enjoyed his company, brought a smile to her features. As slumber still held her in it's grasps, she had many dreams. Some of which where wonderful and others were slightly bizarre.
Her tail would flick every now and then, but she was unaware that Kru was awake at the moment. While she was dreaming, Kru's face appeared in her dream. His bright blues caught her attention and she couldn't help but to unconsciously smile. He was her friend, and now, she was traveling with him to the ocean. Curling her body slightly, she was awaken by the feeling of someone watching her. Slowly, she opened her dark eyes only to blink at the intruding brightness. If she had it her way, she'd prefer the nighttime over the daytime any day! Once her eyes had adjusted to the brightness, her gaze fell upon the leopard who was now sitting beside her. She smiled softly to him, "Good morning Kru." Her head tilted slightly, "Did you sleep at all, or did you sneak a peek at me during my sleep?" She teased him lightly.

Ba'kru blushed as she spoke. Indeed, he did catch a peak at her while she had slept, in fact, he has many of the nights he was awake and she was asleep. But how could one not look upon a beautiful female? Especially a traveling companion? He smiled sheepishly as his ears fell back against his head. "Well, I did get some sleep, but I do not get too much of it. Perhaps it is my species...and..." he murmured. "I did catch a peak of you, of course, it cannot be helped when I want to make sure you are alright while you slept, right?"
He smiled and laid down beside her. She seemed perfectly fine, she was able to take care of herself whenever he had left her alone to do quick errands. Going back into his mind, he recalled that there was a river that lead from the Pride Lands to the Ocean. Adjacent to it would be the mountains and just on the other side was the jungles he once called home.
He licked her softly out of friendly affection. "We shall wait some time before we go to the river. We should follow it to the Ocean and we should get there in a few moons or so."

At his words, Alula couldn't help but giggle softly. So she had caught him in the act, but it was nice to hear him not deny it either. Though, his words were very reassuring, not only did she had to watch out for herself, but Kru was watching out for her. And for that, she was grateful. As he laid beside her and gave her a friendly lick she placed her paw on his closest shoulder. "I knew it!" She exclaimed. "I am fine, you're not so far away above me that if something should happen you would hear it. Thanks for the concern, Kru."
As he spoke of a river leading to the ocean, she remembered such a river when she was younger. Her father had taken her to a large body of water a couple of times to play in. Perhaps it was the same river, perhaps it was not. Either way, it didn't make much of a different to her. All that mattered is that they had fun on their adventure to the ocean! With a nod, "Sounds like a plan to me. It'll be exciting!"

Kru could only blush a little more but did not seem all that affected by the attention he was getting himself. He licked her back softly, "At least I am being truthful and I don't really hide anything from anyone, don't you agree?" the leopard smiled. "Come now, do not tell me no one watches you as you sleep for protection. Though I may be above in the trees, that does not prevent any mangy scavenger from getting to you. Either you like it or not, I'll just keep watching you." he chuckled as he placed a paw against her shoulder.
"Yes, it would be! There are fish who swim in the river so we do not have to hunt too much out in the savanna. Less work for you and myself as I cannot run as well as you," Kru laughed. "You just woke up, so rest some more and we can go when you are ready."
Thinking that she was gonna take a little more time to rest, his eyes adverted from her and to the sky. The sun slowly brightening the sky. The stars fading one by one. A new day to a fresh start.

She shook her head, Alula was by herself most of the time. The only one she could really remember watching out for her was her family or Siltim, at certain times. Leaning against him some, she took in his warm and yawned slightly. It was nice to just laze around for a bit. Her dark eyes gazed forward, taking in the scenery, watching the sun light up the sky. Ears flicked back to Kru, "I wouldn't stop you, I'll just have to watch you while you sleep!" She replied with a slight jest.
With his warmth next to her, she couldn't help but smile. Kru was such a character and she enjoyed his company. She turned her head to rest it over his back, "I've never tried catching fish before, that shall be fun to try!" She giggled softly, only picturing herself getting wet with no meal. As a little time passed, the sun was starting to climb the sky she moved her muzzle closer to Kru's ear to n** on playfully, "I'll be ready whenever you are!"

Having Alula lean against him was something he was not quite used to. Having being licked was something he was growing to like. Perhaps because he never really did get to experience a companion like this. Her touch. Her smell. Her voice. Her laughter. Her smile. She was perhaps-no, the first female he had actually spent a few moons with and actually still have her around. He was starting to worry that this blush was going to be permanent as long as she was around him. Touching him. "I wish you great luck with that, Alula, for I sleep not long and I am usually awake when you are. Perhaps being around you, I could regulate my sleeping patterns to yours."
Kru laughed as Alula nipped his ear so he leaned down closer to her with a soft, innocent smile. "Come now, you are ready? If that is so, then ladies first," The leopard flicked his tail so it hit her lightly. He was quite skilled at catching fish for it was a simple task for him to do so. After all, it was one of the main food sources around the jungle to catch. "Come now, up you go, Alula."

His words made no difference to her. Alula was determined that one of these days she'd watch him while he slept! She stuck out her tongue playfully, "Just you wait, Kru. I'll surprise you one of these day, don't you worry!" It was a nice feeling to have someone watch over her while she slept, and she wasn't one to complain about that!
At his latter words, she perked up a bit. They were getting ready to leave then! With a smile slowly spreading across her facial features, she nodded, "As ready as I'll ever be!" This will be the biggest adventure she's ever gone on, and one so suddenly and out of the blue. She's always wanteed to do something out of ordinary, this should definitely qualify. Plus, she has great company! Her dark eyes looked to Kru before she got up. Her front paws were pushed forward as she stetched to get the kinks out of her.
In revenge, she batted her tail against him lightly. "Ladies may go first, by the guys should lead the way!"

Kru chuckled as he moved before her, looking over his broad shoulders. Being a leopard, he was shorter than she but he was a lot more bulkier than her. Strong legs keep his body up and able to maintain his body weight as he climbed trees. It was interesting being in the presence of a taller feline that was still capable of killing him if she so desired to. He smiled. "Well, perhaps one of these days my tired mind will catch up to me and have me oversleep. Hopefully, I will wake to see a beautiful female as if it were a dream," he smiled. "Perhaps."
"Ah, what manners! If the male shall lead, allow this humble male offer his Lady a comforting ride to the river before the morning hunt," he grinned as he laid down, laying out his shoulders, his tail flicking slightly. He was capable of carrying his own weight, perhaps he was curious if he was able to take her weight as well. "Don't worry, surely a female like you cannot weight all that much!"

She giggled, "Don't you worry! It'll happen in due time, Kru!" Alula's dark eyes twinkled at the prospect. Just one of these days, she'll surprise him but until then, she'd just have to let him have his fun. Though, at his movement, she was taken back in surprise. Now, this was a slight turn of events! He wanted to carry her some distance? The idea seemed so outlandish, but he was plenty big himself. He surely weighed more than she, even if she was taller.
Slightly unsure of it, she thought it over. When it came down to it, she didn't want to offend him in anyway. Plus, this is something new she could try! "What an offer. Surely I cannot refuse!" She climbed onto his back and rested over it gently, making sure none of her long legs would get in his way. She giggled softly, "I am surely being spoiled now. Just remember that my legs aren't broken and I'll be fully capable of walking if you feel I should do so!"

Kru began to walk once she had settled herself upon his back. She was quite the light one indeed! Though, that would surely explain why cheetah could move so quickly across the open savanna for they were so light but their power must be so immense! He could only imagine what this one was like when running. "Oh, do not underestimate me, dear Alula. Though we just met not too long ago, do you not trust me? I can carry you for a long while before I need my rest. That is why we must go to the river so I could hunt and eat. After that, I can carry you for a while more. See? I know what I am doing as a vagabond."
He laughed and slowly came to a sort of jogging pass, keeping his back as straight as possible to make the ride more pleasureable for the cheetah. He never had anyone upon his back, nor had he ever offered. It was rather strange, but he felt quite close to the female. Perhaps a friend wasn't the best word but it was the closest he could think of. He did not want to admit to mate for he did not know if she loved him. In fact, he could not even admit that he loved her. No, he liked her quite a lot but not that much. There was some rift between the two that prevented him. Perhaps during their travels it would disappear.

At his words, Alula couldn't help but giggle. "Of course! I am just only saying that because I would not want you to get too tired of me on your back. I don't think I could carry you." Once he started to walk, it was slightly bouncy at first and it took some time till she settled into a nice rhythm.
She kept her paws tucked in against his body to keep them out of his way. As he was jogging, she took the time to watch the scenery go by. She could only imagine the sight they must have been. How often do you see a leopard carrying a cheetah on his back, afterall? After watching the scenery blur together a bit, she lowered her head back against his back and snugged against him. While she wasn't sure she was ready to admit it, but she liked being able to touch him. It reassured her that she wasn't alone afterall. And the ride wasn't all too bumpy, he was doing a good job at not jostling her and for that, she was grateful!
The river! She had almost forgotten about it as she was so content and lost in her thoughts. With a sly grin, she'd get to see him get all wet while he hunted. And perhaps, she could have a little fun along the way.

(( Does she have a thing for wet males? XD ))
Kru chuckled. "Oh, I could never allow you that burden! I would have us rest for a bit and force myself to walk. I'd rather do that than have you carry such a heavy load such as I upon your back. I'm afraid I might break you!" he exclaimed before letting out a laugh. "I don't want that after I have found a female that actually desires to travel with me like you."
Being with Alula brought some light into his life. There was surely other fish in the sea. He had spent many months of his life seeking females only to be broken, yelled at, attacked, scared off, abandoned, and/or laughed at. Perhaps those were not the fish he sought to obtain but they were the sort that could fulfill his dreams of having a family of his own. To be wanted. To be needed. To have his line continue. Being with Alula, there was a lot more fun to be done, so much more things to do, and the laughs they shared were memorable.
It was not long before they reached the river, it was not too fast moving but it was not as steady as a calmed stream. He chuckled as he stopped at the water's edge, laying his body down.
"Oh, MiLady, may this be the stop you desired?" he joked

((Of course not! XDD))
The ebony cheetah couldn't help but to smile at his words. Alula giggled softly, "I'm glad then. I've always wanted to go on an adventure, but not by myself. It's no fun that way!" This has to be one of the biggest decisions she's made so far and thus far, it's proven to be quite enjoyable.
Her dark eyes gazed forward just as she noticed that Kru was starting to slow down. They were close to the river, she could faintly make out the running water. It didn't take long for the pair to come to the bank of the river. As Kru laid down, she slid off his back in one, swift movement. She turned her head slightly to look at him with a grin, "But of course, Good Sir! I am flattered at your generosity, how could I ever repay you?" With a soft giggle, she bent forward to take a few sips of water.

"Oh fair lady, I wish nothing from this for it was but a mere gesture of my gratitude," He replied in a strange but joking tone. He really did not want anything really, he had her to travel with and that was all that really mattered at the moment. Kru stood beside her and lent down to drink. A few laps and his belly was full, thirst quenched. With a good belly of water, it was time for the good stuff.
Food.
He padded into the water calmly. His body stops in the middle as the water brushes around his chest. Another moment where being short hurt him. He had less manueverability but that meant nothing if he could just catch what he wanted to catch. Without moving, he watched the shadows of fish swim around his legs, pecking at them before moving on down stream. If one does not startle, surely none of the others will either. With a sudden leap and a roar, water splashed up into the air.
The dark leopard came to shore with a fish in his maw. His eyes slowly calming down from the hunt. His body was soaked, head to toe. His dark black, blue fur clung to his skin, able to show off the muscles he had been building since childhood on walking alone. His eyes looked at Alula, dropping the fish, ears flattening.
"My, being wet, must be unsightly to say the least."
(( Just for her ;D ))
