((I put this in Liam's Minding Tree. It's a very large, broad twig nest on a branch for the young Sentinels to be kept in, with a sleeping cavity that can fit two adults and a hatchling, or two fledglings and an adult. The tree's leaves are tied in a canopy over the nest, like a cabana roof.))

Liam the Minder was tidying his nest. There hadn't been too many chicks in today, just a few hatchlings and the occasional fledgling stopping in to say hello or visit for a little while. Thorn was dozing, strangely, so he decided to put the time to a bit of use. He tucked stray feathers into the wicker-like weave of his broad day nest while Roth chucked out detritus and food bits. Any soft, downy feathers were piled to be moved into his sleeping cavity. The job, although simple enough to do, was boring, and he wished that somebody would come along and give him an excuse not to clean.

Eidolin was peering over the side of the branch from a smaller sized oak she had been able to land on. Though she was close enough to her own territory, she was straying away from it now, trying to fly up higher but..it wasn't working too well. "Maybe...I'll just wait till someone finds me...yea.." she said to herself, two bats, one black, one white were perched on hte twig above her head hanging upside down from their cling feet.

"No, you can try, you can do it Eidy-Ei," the black male said with a squeak.

"Valen right, try-try!" Vaen's white counterpart, Mika, said with a smile.

Mika and Valen loved and supported Eidy so.

They were family.

Eidolin gulped, hopped off the branch and fell with am oomf onto the ground, panick struck her and she dove into a nearby undergrowth of a bush and peeked out making sure nothing else was around.

How could she get back up now?

Liam heard a crash and rustle in a bush below him. He knew the Gatherers were out today, and decided that a greeting would be just the excuse for ignoring his nestwork. Grabbing Roth in one talon, he swooped down to a low branch near the site of the noise. He peered about, looking for the Gatherer, but none was to be seen. However, his curiosity was piqued. "Hello!" he called down.

At that precise moment a lone ranger Sentinel was crossing by overhead. For a ranger to be this far from the border of the lands meant that likely it was off to make a report. Seeing as this is a task that usually requires more than little haste, and is highly important, one would wonder why this particular bird was seeming to take her time, drifting slowly and gently from tree to tree, rather than flying around them. Also, it semed she was...singing to herself.

"O Brigadier, O Brigadier, how lovely are thine feathers. O Brigadier, O Brigadier, how lovely are thine feathers."

Ah yes, it was Hazel. Never in much of a rush anywhere, she was taking her sweet time crossing towards the Deep Woods. In one of the pauses of her song, a strange thumping noise met her ears. Freezing where she was, perched on the very branch Eidolin had just fallen from, she peered about. Out of the corner of her eye, she thought she saw a bush rustle. She clacked her beak happily.

"Lucky day, lucky day...Is it a mouse? Or a chipmunk I wonder? They're fat this time of year..."

Without another word she fluttered lower, hoping to see if whatever was hiding was worth her time. To her surprise, a fledgling peeked out.

"Huh! Not food, but just as interesting."

With a screeching call to alert the young bird that she needn't worry, there were others around, she leapt from her perch, gliding low and backwinging to land gently on the ground near the bush. "Hello in there!" At almost the same time another voice called hello. It wasn't from in the bush though...Peering upwards, she glimpsed Liam. "Hello indeed! We may need your help down here!" She shuffled a little closer to the bush. "You can come out...nothing will get you with more of us around here."

Oh my what was coming, what was coming?! Eidolin scooched her way further back into hte bush as Valen and Mika joined her. Mika perched herself on Eidy's back, Valen on a twig just in front of Eidolin's beak, Valen would protect them! Or so he thought until he saw a larger sentinel head there way. With a squeak he fell back into the bush as well, almost nesting onto Eidolin's back with Mika, peeking over the female fledgling's head to see another larger female sentinel before them.

And alas it was not Eidolin's mother!

Stranger!

"H-hi..." Eidy peeped at the female, and a male, a male was here too! Panic his her young heart and she pulled her wings tight against her.

It was obvious she was not used to such strangers as of yet, though she was rather intrigued by their colors.

To Liam's surprise, a fledgling's face emerged from the bush! He hadn't seen this one before, and called down to her and Hazel. "Hang on! I'm coming down!" He dove off the branch, gliding down to the fledgling. He landed on the ground, unconcerned about the dangers it posed, and touched the obviously-terrified fledgling with his pinions. "I'm Liam," he said softly, "And that's Hazel. We'll get you out of here in just a sec, ok?"

Hazel nodded in agreement with Liam. "We'll get you up off the ground in no time. Liam here is a minder, so he knows just what to do when a fledgling falls to the Ground." She turns to smile at Liam. "Don'tcha?" Of course, most Sentinels knew basically what to do, but it was lucky that Liam had been near. Hazel paused a moment, looking up. She hadn't known she'd been so close to his territory. I must have gotten off course while I was making up that lovely song for Mr. Briggy... she thought absently.

After waiting to make sure Liam had Eidolin calmed and under control, she set off, strutting around the area, eyes and ears wide to any threatening sounds. "You go ahead and see if you can get her up into the air. I'll keep a lookout, no worries." Rounding a bend in the underbrush, she came upon what looked like the remains of a large squirrel. Bending low to peer at it, she shuffled in place a bit before turning and half running, half flying back to meet the other two. "We should get up to the trees as soon as we can. There's a dead possum nearby, and I would rather not meet whatever killed it."

Alright Eidolin, calm down, its alright...breath... she mused to herself as she watched the older female converse with the male. They both seemed friendly, and they didn't seem angry at her for wandering where she shouldn't have gone. Liam was his name, he could help? Eidolin sighed with relief and stepped out from hte confines of the bush, her chirops still perched on her back.

Both chirops watched the other two elder sentinels idley, clinging to their fledgling friend's feathers. They weren't sure whether to let go, or if it was some sort of trick.

They didn't want to be snacks.

"You'll help?" Valen asked, he was the more vocal and able to communicate of the two chirops.

"Help?" MIka said tilting her head to the side, repeating her friend's words.

Together they could do anything.

"W-what?!" Eidolin shuffled herself to stand behind Liam, peering around with her golden hues.

What now...what now?!

Liam looked at the fledgling for a bit. "Hazel," he called, "can you stay with her for a bit while I fly back up to my nest? I have a harness that I use to carry Thorn around with... It will not fit her perfectly, but I'd bet that she can fit into it enough for us to lift her." Thinking of Thorn, he listened intently for the hatchling's peeping cries, but he was still asleep. "I'm going to take Roth back up with me, to watch Thorn. This might take longer than I expected to be down here." As the Skurri hopped onto his back, he looked down at the fledgling's Chirops. "Yes, I will help. It's my job to help. You two stay put; I'll be right back!"

Hazel nodded at Liam's suggestion. "Sure thing, you go ahead." She smiled around at Eidolin, shuffling closer in a casual manner. She waved Liam off with a flap of her wing. The sooner he got that harness the better. "Go on then, don't worry about us." She winked over her shoulder at the male. "I can handle most things that might pop," She turned back away, muttering a little quieter, "At least I think so..."

It suddenly occurred to her that they had no clue as to who their new charge was. She sidled up beside the smaller owl (though not by much!), casually leaning back to look over the Chirops perched on her back. "So. You know our names. Who are you? Do your parents live nearby?"

Eidolin watched as Liam flew up to get a harness, and Eidy was worried and nervous. She'd never even seen a harness...least thats what she thought. Though she couldn't be too sure. "My name's Eidolin," she said with a nod of her head, fluffing up her feathers a bit, Valen adn Mika still clinging to her back, "These are my friends, Valen, he's hte black one, and Mika, she's white...its okay, say hi."

Valen peeked over and waved a little bit, and Mika shuffled her way up to smile and mimic "Hi-hi," from Eidy.

Eidolin loved them so much so.

"One day I want to be a keeper," she said with a smile, trying to get her mind off of things.

Yes being a keeper would be fun.

"yea, just over that way. I have a hollow in a tree, its just over there," she said unfolding her wing to point.

Yes, not too far away.

Thorn was still snoozing soundly, and it took Liam little time to find the contraption he'd had the crafters make. It was an elegant thing, with a double-cross design the held the hatchling snugly in place, yet allowed their wings and talons freedom of movement. He thought about how it would fit the fledgling. Perhaps he would slip it over her wings and have her grip his talons in hers... or he'd have her sit in it with her wings out and he and Hazel would carry it up by the straps! Yes, that would work. Hastily, he flew back with the harness and dove to the ground. The hatchling and two chirops were intoducing themselves to Hazel. So far, it seemed safe. "Ok, miss... I'd like you to hop in this and put your talons through those holes. Now, those loops will hang down- ignore them. Hazel, could you grab the other long strap? I'll hold this one, and we'll fly her back up to my nest for now, ok?" He hopped from leg to leg as he said this. He hated being on the ground very much.

Hazel smiled kindly at the fledgling. She was taking being stranded on the ground for so long quite well, and the older Sentinel was very much glad that she didn't have to restrain some wild, flailing youngster. Talking did work wonders to keep one from panicking. It looked like it was working, and Hazel listened to Eidolin, bobbing her head. "It looks like you have a good start. Chirops are very tricky to raise, I hear. Getting them to breed is a challenge for even the best of keepers. You'll need lots of luck, but starting with them so young might make it easier." She nodded to the littler companions' greetings.

She looked around and up as Liam came back in to land, bearing what seemed an odd set of straps with him. "Good to have you back Liam. No trouble yet, but we might be pushing our luck..." She watched carefully as the male directed what should be done. A moment and she could visualize what he wanted. "The flying will be tricky." She noted, imagining what would happen if the straps got crossed or she and Liam crashed into each other. Not good at all, for any of them. It was likely that they could do it though. Or at least they wouldn't know until they tried, right? She fluttered to settle on the strap Liam had told her to hold and watched him hop about while waiting for Eidolin. She was a little out of the ordinary in not minding being on the ground herself. Well, as long as there were others around, and she wasn't there long. Worried that his agitation might frighten the fledgling and make things take even longer, she stretched out a wing to brush his own for a moment. "I'm sure we'll have her up and off the ground with no trouble. Where did you get this thing?" She asked, looking down at the harness, hoping to occupy the Minder's thoughts on something other than being on the ground.

Eidolin was comforted by the fact that she was not alone, and that Valen and Mika were still with her, not flying up to perch upside down on some branch above her head. They were good to her, they were growing up together. They were always there for eachother, they were their own little family. Family stuck together.

As Eidolin spotted Liam coming down with some odd looking contraption, she tilted her head just slightly so, watching it. It seemed...rather strange, but if it got her and her chirops, and them of course, Liam and Hazel, then it seemed good enough.

Though she was still nervous.

Hopping up, flailing her wings a little bit she settled down, watched Liam, and hopped a couple time in place, mimicking him with a smile, then settling herself into hte harness.

Hopefully all would end alright.

She didn't want anything else to happen..being on hte ground so long was bad enough already.

"What now?" Eidy asked, chirops still on her back.

Should they move from her back? Or would her friends be alright...

"I'm good friends with some crafters. When I started caring for Thorn, I had them make it for me." He stopped hopping and fluffed himself. It was important not to frighten the fledgling, though she seemed quite fine. She seemed set in the harness. Her chirops seemed to be calming her, too, which was quite an advantage. Good companions could mean everything to a fledgling. They weren't in the way of the harness, so he let them stay on her. Gripping the strap tightly, he nodded at Hazel for the takeoff.
