Helios, who had stretched his winged earlier folded them in with a yawn. He flicked a glance towards the skies, feeling appreciative of the weather. It was a fine day after all, with sunny skies and a blanket of snow. Or well, one could more accurately describe it as a large blanket. Almost everything in sight, had a layer of snow or two. In fact, he could almost blend into his surroundings himself, if it wasn't for his golden horn and the red orb that rested upon his forehead.
Walking along, he uncovered a flowing river more or less, "Why hasnt it frozen yet? In this weather..?" His voice was soft, as he tilted his head to peer curiously at where it came from. Little did he know, he was standing on a frozen patch that was about to precariously break under his weight.

The weather was growing colder and it annoyed him.
Snorting, the dark stallion continued his brooding walk, a gloomy expression having fallen over his face. The wind was nippy, it make him constantly cold, and the occasional snowfall left his hair wet and mussed. It wouldn't do. It just wouldn't do at all.
Having securely tucked the loose strands of hair into a satisfactory fixing with his wings, Dorian made his way towards the nearby river to ensure his good looks with its reflection. If he was lucky, the water would still be reflective. Already the lake near his home had frozen over, and it made for a HORRIBLE time of trying to see one's reflection. Hopefully this river, with its constantly flowing water, would still be of use to him.

Preoccupied with thoughts, he couldn't help but notice another moving object our of the corner of his eye. The figure was an apparent black, and quite noticeable. As the other approached closer, Helios chuckled at the expression on the other's face. "I take it that you don't like the weather, do you?"
Taking a step backwards, he felt or rather heard, the slightest sound of cracking. And before he knew it, he was knee deep within the flowing river, quite soaked.
"Master?" Artemis slid to a stop before the river, "Is there a reason why your in the river?"
".. Please, dont ask." Helios said with a sigh, accompanied with a scowl. Until then, he had no particular reason to dislike winter. Until, that was. A soggy sight he was, the beads of water sliding down his body and wings, as he shook his head to clear the water from his mane. The soggy tendrils of hair, refused however, and clung to his forehead and face.

Dorian's head shot up as he heard the voice addressing him, and, at the same moment, saw the white stallion plummet into the freezing waters below. Teal eyes widened, and he trotted quicker towards the river's edge at the same time the small white lion arrived on the other side.
"Yes... I echo your little friend there," Dorian said with a slight smile, after seeing that everything was alright, "Perhaps the fragile river banks are as much hated by you as the weather is by me?"
He gave a low chuckle, and took a step back to give room for the other alicorn to rise from the river. He bowed his head, tilting his horn to the other in respect and greeting. "I'm Dorian, by the way."

Standing up, and gingerly steeping out of the river banks, he nodded to the other Alicorn. "I'd like to know the exact same thing myself, but alas. If I don't know, I don't know who would." He felt a chill rise on the back of his neck, as the cold winds blew.
Giving a bow to the other soquili, he replied with ease, "My name is Helios. Its a pleasure to meet you, Dorian." Taking a step backwards as not to affect the other soquili or the white lion, he shook himself out with more success that he had before.
"If anything, this has given me more reason to be cautious of my surroundings. or in particular, river banks." He said lightly, his feathers ruffling slightly to dry themselves off. "While we're on the topic, your the same as I, arent you?" He glanced curiously at the horn and wings that resided on Dorian. "Are Alicorns common? Many I have met are Alicorns, or share one or two of our traits."

"Ah, yes, those riverbanks are dreadfully dangerous this time of year. Or so I've learned, at least, from watching your unfortunate experience."
Without a hesitation, one teal wing rose up to brush a damp curl away from Helios's ear. The white alicorn was perfectly capable of grooming himself, but it was natural for Dorian to want to aid others in bettering their own appearances. After all, that's what he was good at, making things look beautiful.
"Alicorns..." he mused to himself, pondering the question in his head as his wing returned to his side. "Aside from yourself, Helios, I can't say I've met another one like you or I. I received my horn from my father, and my wings from my mother, so it was by mere coincidence that I was born with both, as neither of my siblings were as fortunate. And yourself, my friend?"

"I'm glad you could learn something from my experience." Helios remarked dryly to the other alicorn.
Accepting the other stallion's touch with only the mildest of curiosity, an an amused smile, he said "Thank you. I must admit, that I often don't take care of my looks .. thus." He shrugged. "I fare by well enough, I suppose. On the other hand, I would say you that you are quite opposite from me, in that aspect." Well, Dorian looked immaculate and composed. If he were a mare, he might have been jealous. But as fate would have it, he was a male. Chuckling at himself, he continued "Its quite surprising."
But his surprise was greater at the other stallion's answer. "Interesting .." He trailed off pondering, wondering that perhaps area was an important piece when meeting others? "Unusual. But no matter, I'm sure that you will meet another inevitably."
"..and I believe I was also fortunate. But seeing as I do not know either of my parents, I confess that I do not know which parent bore my traits, or if I have any siblings." His tone was easy though. One could be wistful, or have feelings of sadness when in his circumstances, but Helios had long learned that those feelings had no place within him. Almost absentmindedly, he added "I do not mind it though. After all, you cannot miss anything if you had nothing to miss."
