It had seemed like an eternity since he'd last seen his lady love, but in reality, it had barely even been a few days. Nahuel was nothing if not patient, however- but it was a foreign concept, to be so attached to someone who was not even family. Well... not yet, anyway. The thought brought a blush to his features, but he smiled brightly anyway, adding a slight bounce to his step as he walked. There was a small bit of nervousness in his posture, the miniscule trembling of his muscles belying his excitement and anticipation, but he only increased his speed, a soft tune rising in a hum from his lips.
He carried a thick bouquet of daisies in his mouth, remembering her happiness when he'd presented her with a flower the first time. He was careful not to crush the stems in his teeth, although it was tempting- they tasted good, after all. Seeing the joy on her face was more of a reward than the flowers themselves, however, and he broke out into a trot as he entered the field where he'd found her before, hoping she was still there.
"Missus Roxanne? Are you here?" his speech was muffled by the flowers, but not incomprehensible.

A small powder of snow had finally reached the outland field. The taunting of a snow storm coming from the far horizon as the days grew colder and the skies darker.
Roxanne hated the cold. About as much as she disliked the rain. Having fashioned a little nest type thing in the drying grasses, the little flutter had not left the field. If she did, Nahuel might not of been able to find her. So she toughed it out as best she could.
Her wings were folded tightly against her sides as a small shiver ran across her small body. Half asleep in her little hideout.
The mare's ears perked as a muffled voice cut through the frozen air. Lifting her head, she peeked out from the grass, bright blue eyes shimmering with hope that the voice belonged to Nahuel. Not far off into the distance, she spotted the distinct blue and black colors and her heart skipped a bit. Clambering to her tiny hooves, she scrambled out, spread her wings and took off like a shot.
"Nahuel!" She nickered softly before darting into his mane. Wrapping her legs among the sea of blue hair and dangling there for a moment.

The tiny nicker from the grass made his ears perk and his heart leap, and a bright smile spread across his dark features once more, baying his own greeting as the blur of ivory and ebony shot forward and tangled itself into his mane. "Missus Roxanne!" he laughed softly, one ear twitching backwards as he looked up at her... or attempted to, since she was atop his head.
"I brought you some flowers." He gently set the bouquet down by his feet, careful not to step on it as he shifted slightly. "Were you out here the whole time?" he paused, frowning in slight concern as he took note of the freezing cold air. If she was out here waiting for him in this weather, he'd feel guilty. He tossed his head gently to cover her with more of his thick mane. "Weren't you cold?"

She nosed at his ear with her own muzzle. Giving it a little nibble here and there. "Yes i was. And...yes I was. But I was afraid that I didn't stay out here you might of come when I was gone and left not seeing me around. So I stayed."
Eying the flowers he had set down onto the ground. She untangled her legs and fluttered down to them. Landing softly amongst their petals. Their over powering scent filling her with glee. It seemed like so long since she had seen flowers. The winter had come quick and wiped out most of the places you could find them. "I'm amazed you could of found these at this time of year. Winter is most certainly here and the flowers have almost all died off it seems."
Stepping out of the flowers, she hopped into the snow which in this size came up to her chest. Her wings twitched as the ground got farther away from her body. Her being lengthening until she was in her taller size. Changing sizes always left her breathless even if she had been doing it for so many years. The sudden distance from the ground. How everything shrunk. It wasn't something you could explain.
Lowering her head, she smiled and picked up the daisies with her teeth. Scattering them about her dark tail before blue eyes returned to the stallion. "Thank you. Their lovely."

He blinked a moment, touched that she was so concerned about meeting him, and his gaze softened to one of tenderness and love as he watched her jump down to the flowes. What had he done to deserve such a mare? Nahuel wasn't sure, but he wasn't about to go bringing it up and having her realize that there were better stallions out there. The thought of it left a sour taste in his mouth, but he dismissed it. "You didn't have to stay out here in the cold. I would have found you wherever you went." There was more than one meaning in there, but Nahuel didn't care for deciphering messages.
Grinning sheepishly at the praise, he nodded before bending down to nuzzle her cheek once she was in her larger form. "It took me a long time to find them all... I had to go to a bunch of different fields." He had spent several hours on the way back from his mother's wandering through the snow, checking under trees and cave openings for the slightest bloom. He could see it was worth it, though- the smile on her face was reward enough. "You're very welcome." He made a show of looking around at all the snow. "You might have to wait a while before I can do it again, though." Another sheepish grin.
He paused a moment, pondering how to pose the question he'd thought about all the way here. Despite the cold, a nervous sweat began to break out on his brow, and he fidgeted slightly, shifting his weight back and forth upon his hooves. He could put it off a little longer, he decided, deciding instead to inquire what she'd done in his absence. "So... ah, what did you do while I was gone?"

Roxy smiled at his comment but shook her head. "No. I wanted to wait. If I would have gone somewhere else I wouldn't of been able to sleep." Which was true. Even when she had stayed here waiting for him she wondered if he really would return. She knew in her heart he would, but there was always that small shadow of doubt that lurked in the back of any mare's mind.
"I can only imagine." Her eyes glanced back at the white flowers that now were nestled into her tail. But it was only a brief glance before her eyes returned to him. "That is fine. I know what winter means for all of nature's things."
Her wings twitched once as she turned around, gazing out at the snow covered field. Ears flicking curiously as she watched a few wandering bugs here and there. Several small birds were digging into the snow with their feet to get at what was beneath the icy layer. "Waited, slept, ate. What anyone would do if they were waiting for someone they cared about to return to them."

"Ah. Well..." he stepped forward, nuzzling under her chin gently, for once looking deep enough to see the distant shadows that flickered through her eyes. "You shouldn't worry. I'll always come back for you. Always." He smiled genuinely, resting his forehead against hers briefly before taking a step back again.
He drew in a deep breath, pondering the right words to say as he worked to strengthen his courage. If he was going to do this, he was going to do it right... and she deserved the best. "I've been thinking about this for a long time, it seems... well, it seems like a long time, anyway. I, uh..." he cleared his throat nervously, beginning to fidget once again as he looked down at his hooves. "I have... something important to ask you."
Trying to remember what his mother had told him- he thanked the lord his father hadn't found out about this yet- he bent one knee and lowered himself onto both knees in the snow. Balancing himself appropriately, he lifted his head to meet her gaze with a bright, but nervous smile. "Missus Roxanne... you're the only mare I've ever felt this way about before... I love you more than anything. Will you..." he coughed against the sudden fear that choked him. "Will you... uh... be my m-mate?"

Both eyebrows raised as he got down on his knees in front of her. Now shorter than her for the moment. Something important? Her wings twitched nervously as she could feel her heart beat speed up. Its pounding reaching her ears.
There could be only one thing that he was leading up to...
And then those words came and the pink of her cheeks spread furthur across her snow white face. Her eyes widened in surprise. She knew it was probably what he was going to ask. But it still surprised her none the less.
Roxanne's chin lowered against her chest. The cold metallic feeling of the cross that dangled from its leathery teather sent a little shock to her skin. Small curls fell over half her face as her eyes lidded slightly. An almost euphoric feeling washing over her body as she trembled slightly. "How could I say no?" The flutter nearly whispered before her eyes returned to his. "Yes."

Although he'd be reluctant to admit it, Nahuel was beyond terrified in those few moments of silence it took for her to contemplate her answer. After all, what could he really offer her, besides his love? He wasn't very smart, and he didn't know how to charm ladies like his father... and he was sure that there were plenty of other stallions that were smarter, more good-looking, and could probably make her a lot happier than he ever could.
His heart fell into his stomach as she lowered her head, and her forelocks fell over her eyes. She was searching for the words he didn't want to hear, he was sure of it... but then, he heard those beautiful words fall from her mouth, and he froze in shock. For a moment, he couldn't speak, simply staring and trying to comprehend the fact that she'd said yes! His mouth opened and closed soundlessly several times before he finally managed to speak, his voice soft, hoarse, and disbelieving.
"R-Really?" There was a part of him reluctant to believe, as if it was some sort of cruel joke meant to raise his hopes and crush him with them. He knew, though, that Roxanne was his friend if nothing else, and she would never do that to him. "Y-You really mean that?"

The trembling had stopped after she had given her answer. A warm small curling her mouth upward as she let out a small giggle. Fluttering her wings several times and flicking her tail back and forth across the snow.
Roxanne had always had a feeling since the day that they first met that perhaps their relationship would of turned into something more. All the other stallions who she had come across just were....well. It was hard to describe them. Crude was probably the best word she could find at this moment.
Lowering her head just a bit, she nibbled on the warm end of his nose. "Yes. I really mean it Nahuel. There is no one else I'd rather spend the rest of my life with. To the end of days."

A smile that was almost blinding in its brightness began to spread across his ebon' features at her confirmation, putting his usual cheery grins to shame in its pure joy and happiness. "Oh, Missus Roxanne, you won't regret it! I promise I'll take real good care of you, and you'll want for nothing, I swear!"
Lifting himself to his feet and opening his mouth to speak again, the clumsiness that had not shown itself in a while made itself known once again as he scrambled against the slippery wetness, searching for traction, before he lost his balance and crashed into her, sending them both sprawling into the cold slush.
He paused a moment, lifting his head with a heavy blush and grinning sheepishly down at her. "Er... sorry... that didn't happen for a while, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. I didn't hurt you, did I?"

Blinking as he scrambled to stay up, the ice not helping one bit, she let out a small squeak as she was pulled down along with him. Her wings fluttering wildly as she fell and landed almost completely on top of him.
As she straightened herself out, this reminded her of a similar scenario that had happened not too long after they had met. Only it was warmer and on the beach. Instead of in the forest and during the cold times.
"No, I think I'm fine." She looked over every inch of her body. Testing everything to make sure nothing was injured. It wasn't that bad of a fall, but one could never know. "Are you ok?" Her eyes turned quickly to him. "How funny it would of been if you hurt yourself and I had to take care of you right after you said you would take care of me." Another bit of laughter came as she stretched out her nose to touch his cheek lightly.

He grinned again in relief she wasn't hurt, shaking his own head as she nosed his cheek, returning the gesture affectionately. "I'm all right. And I'm not sure I'd mind that. Being taken care of by you sounds tempting." He eyed her teasingly, nuzzling into her mane with a soft whuff. "I might just have to go get myself injured so I can experience that." He was joking, of course- he'd never even think about burdening her with having to watch over him.
Disentangling his legs from hers carefully, he stood up slowly and helped her stand with his head supporting her gently beneath her neck. A humorous grin spread across his face as he recalled the time when they'd first met, chuckling softly. "I remember when we met- what was it you called me? A clumsy brute?" He met her eyes with a grin. "I had to prove you right sometime."

A smirk spread across her lips as she eyed him. "I doubt you'd want me taking care of you like that. Thought it might be interesting....for me at least."
She chuckled as she pulled her body up from the frozen ground. Giving her body a quick shake and her wings an even quicker one. "Yes well. Opinions change once one spends enough time with another. But still, your a clumsy brute. But your my clumsy brute."
