She had been traveling for some time, but now she walked upon earth which she knew well, the land she had been born in to. She had left Banda on the outskirts, well hiden and told hims he would come back and fetch him. First, first she needed to speak to her queen.

The queen she searched for was her cousina nd would possibly be more lenient towards her wandering away for such a time. She had a reason, she had a sweet very hairy reason. Banda, she had become so close to him she found it difficult to return tot he pride knowing that she must claim him as her own and treat him as male lions were to be treated.

She knew from stories that not all prides were like theres, usually the males were in charge. She had explained breifly to Banda that females ruled their pride but not all of the history. The history could wait.

Clearing her throat she bowed her head and called through the undergrowth in to the den mouth where she knew Usha usually resided.

"Usha, Ma'am, I wonder if you could spare a moment." She whispers a pleasent puur rolling over her lips.

Usha's friendly personality might have caused her to question being called by such formalities such as Ma'am and Majesty among other things. But she had been born to the roll, not acquired it, so she had always been called it and so thought it only natural that she be addressed so. But as it was, she was very friendly and spent much of her time with the people and among them.

Usha possessed intellect and wisdom but she was more known for her flirtatiousness and even little tricks. She had a hard time being serious unless she had to. And usually people didn't seek her out in the clan den.

She lifted her head off of her paws and out of her deep contemplation about their current home. It had been carefully planned out by her and Tessy's mothers and organized after a long journey out of Persia and Egypt that spanned back to possibly her great-grandmother. There might be flaws. There were tales of lions occasionally spotted nearby so she had been rethinking the strategic layout of their defenses.

Padding her way out of the den, she laid eyes on the yellow form of Gurami, a sweet girl who had fallen just a tad short of Rawal. "Yes, dear Gurmai. Go ahead," she said with a nod, addressing her as she did everyone she knew by name, with a term of endearment.

The pale yellow lioness smiled at the bright pink femme slipped out of her den, and now the problem came to her. What exactly was she here to ask? For a moment her mind raced in and out of questions that were pointless, to say the least, but her grey matter soon came upon the words which she needed for this occassion.

"I have been gone for some time Ma'am, my paws took me far off away from my homelands. The world, it is strange out there." She paused feeling she was certainly rambling. A feint heat rose beneath her cheeks, she was sugercoating her questions? The point, she needed to get to the point.

"On my travels I found a friend...A male..friend.." She let the words flow slowly over her lips, she was after all the youngest of her siblings and far more shy than her older sisters. Clearing her throat she raised her soft lilac eyes to her matriarch and swallowed hard. She felt nervous like she was asking much of the queen, she stumbled on regardless.

"I came to ask permission mistress to bring him in. I.." She flushed again then as she picked her words. "I wish to keep him.." Her voice lowered then and her eyes darted to her paws which shuffled amongst the thick undergrowth. She felt silly saying such a thing, she loved Banda, she was just unsure of how the queen would take to such a thing, she was unsure if she could even keep Banda for herself, let alone bring him in to the pride.

Usha inspected her cousin with a critical eye as she spoke. It wasn't that hard to pick up many things. The way Gurami slid around her question as though to fortify it with a safe wall before she came to the question itself. She had found herself a male, a male she desired for her own. There were always males being chosen by females for reasons other than the future they should be thinking about. Usha knew that every female should be thinking about her children. You mate with a colorful male to raise the chances of your children having higher ranks. The more colorful a clan was, the higher the honor they had. More white, black, and other natural and neutral colors lowered the honor. She would have even mentioned it to Gurami if she had known that her chosen male was white.

She did also know many females who were not raised to be warriors forgot that they were supposed to be tough and gave way to the emotions of love. And that indeed, Gurami was in love. She was also the type to easily let her emotions get the best of her, a perfect subject for manipulation. "You may bring him in, Gurami dear. But remember, he won't be accustomed to our ways. It is your job to make sure he fits in without conflict. Also, any dishonor he may cause is on your shoulders." Of course, that could be anywhere from him trying to rise above his rank to if she did have white children. But only his misbehavior or her stepping out of line for him could actually affect her ranking. The children's ranking had no effect on her own.

She nodded. "Keep him and keep him well."

A slow feeling of releif settled over her as the queen spoke, although her heart jumped in to her throat at the implications and troubles she might bring upon her clan bringing a stranger within their ranks, and a male at that. Licking her pale lemony lips she lifted lilac eyes to the queen and gave a subtle nod.

"I will teach him our ways Majesty, he won't upset the balance." For the first time since she had met banda, for the first time since she had fallen like a silly cub, head over heels for a sweet talking boy. She remembered whos he was. She had a proud heritage to uphold. She could not let Banda hurt her tribe,s he loved her tribe, but at the same time she loved banda and her heart hurt to think she must tell him what to do.

She was after all a warrior of this tribe and related to one of the queens of the whole pride to boot, she must have her mate uphold the laws that had been laid down for all males through out the generations. Though her mind muddled at the thought that Banda may bring embarressment to the pride, her heart fluttered happily in her chest. Banda could come. Her banda.

She still had more to ask of her queen though so calming her ever tingling nerves she let a whisper roll over her lips. "I have never, never found a male to suit me before mistress, I need to know what I must teach him. I barely knew my mother before she vanished and my sisters have raised me beneath their wings, but i know little, so very little of what I need to teach him. Please, Usha, my queen, please I need your guidance, your advice. What must I do to prepare my banda, to make him fit for our pride."

Although Gurami of course knew what traditions said, and that she must tell banda of her pride and where males lay in the grand scheme of things. She had little knowlege of keeping a male. It was after all truth that she had never taken a male before.

Gurami seemed anxious which made Usha smile out of amusement. It wasn't a selfish, mean amusement but that of one who thought another was worrying unnecessarily. "There is not much to it, dear cousin. He must hunt for himself. As in regarding to being yours, he is allowed to stay with you. But he must remember his boundaries as a male and respect the females around him. When you have cubs, it is his duty to care for them."

She thought to herself and half-circled Gurami in thought. "Explain it to him as this: it is like the societies he is familiar with, strict ones. Only it is of the inverse. Here, females are dominant and it is the males that must listen. No one is allowed to claim him. If so, they are challenging you to a fight which you must face unless they are of a lesser clan and equal or lesser rank. Upon that time, it is a dishonor to face them and they automatically lose. Should you lose, you lose him. If you are challenged on a different level, you can lose your rank and become a slave of a clan, as you well know. In those circumstances, he is no longer yours and must return to be with the males."

She looked up to Gurami. "But do not trouble yourself, Cousin. It is not as difficult as you would make it seem. Our clan is only so large and we have one of the largest dens. There should be no quarrels among us. Never fear. Come. Let us walk a while and you must tell me of this male that has you so... nervous for him."

The soft yellow female listened quietly at the queen spoke. It was indeed the rituals that scared her. What if she lost Banda? It would break her heart to see him sent to the males den. She knew this would be seen as far too sentimental but she loved Banda. That wasn't a bad thing, was it?

At her queens invitation to speak the lemon yellow lioness lay slowly crossing her forepaws as she did in these sort of situations, placeingherself below the queen but at the same time taking on a more casual air. Now that she could bring Banda in, she was a little worried for his safty, but she could not leave him. She needed him.

Smiling shyly at the queen the pale lioness pursed her lips and spoke in a sweet lilting whisper. "He is wonderful, a large male with eyes of palest lilac and a tongue silver as the fish in the stream. He is large and powerful but sweet and calming, his touch as gentle as a rosees petals." She paused for a moment and flushed,s he found herself gushing over the big male even though he was not here. This meeting, it was almost like speaking to her sisters. She felt a little confused at all the feeling spilling over her lips at a simple question. "I have never felt this way before, for anyone, though it has the feeling that I hold for my sisters at the deapth of it, it is much different in a wonderful way." She looked up at the queen then her eyes watery. "I don't suppose I am making any sence at all?" She giggles nervously looking at her paws. This was the strangest thing to ever have happened to her.

((just wanted to point out Usha said "walk with me" not lay down. I'm just going to continue as though they're walking))

Usha blinked. She was describing Banda like this was a love story or something and she wanted to give herself to Banda and would rather him own her and tramping about the countryside with her in his arms. She sounded like she couldn't stand to be apart from him. From the sound of it, Banda ruled her and she followed his every word.

She shook her head. "Gurami, you are helplessly in love. While you are free to make your own choices, you cannot let this love hold such power over you. While it may be blissful and enjoyable, he should not be able to control you through your emotions." They slowed and she held up a paw. "I know what you are going to say. That he is too nice to do that to you. But realize should you fight or dispute or should he die, you should not be weakened or crippled by it. If that means you must maintain your distance from him then so be it. Do not, do NOT let your emotions drive you. That is the most dangerous thing you could do."

She shook her head looking at her paws. "I know you want to feel so strongly for him. But if you remember from our ancient history and the tales of when males ruled, it was also our emotions that make us the weaker sex. Males were warriors and seemed to feel little emotion. That is how they maintained control and that is how we now maintain control. Love him if that is your wish but do not use it as a pillar. Do not use it as a reason to wake up in the morning. If you decide to anyways, Gurami. It will be your downfall."

Being desperately in love was not safe. They had lessons, histories, and teachings to prove it. That was danger. That was death, betrayal, and other wicked games, no matter how pure that love began. It is not healthy when one couldn't dream of being without the other. It simply was not.

((sorry about that. I sleep type I swear XD!))

Gurami followed after her queen quietly her eyes turned to the ground as the queen spoke of dependance. Sheknew the rules, she knew the regulations, she knew the stories, the truths, their religion, but, there was always a but. Banda didn't come from their pride, he hadn't wronged them. Her ears flickered slightly as she thought of what the queen would say if she replied with this answer. She decided against such a thing. After all, it would be foolish to be so blazeh. The queen was kindly enough to allow her to bring Banda in, and their tribe was one of the strongest. She would be able to keep Banda from the others.

Or so she hoped. She knew the risks, if another thought Banda was worth her while she could be challanged and Banda could be taken away from her. her heart ached with the thought, though she tried to push away that screeching feeling. It wasn't right for her to be so head over heels. It would seem weak, a disgrace to her family if she fawned over Banda, as she wanted to. She had to be strong.

Nodding her head to the queen, the large yellow lioness looked the older, wiser femme in the eyes. "I won't let you down ma'am, I will keep my felings in check for the sake of our tribe." She smiled, in a brave sort of manner then. "I will bring him to see you as soon as possible. You will like him." She puurrs, though she doubted the last statement, she still loved Banda, and nothing could change that, she just had to distance herself from that love or face possible trouble in the future.

((sorry for taking a century to reply D; ))

Despite Usha's skepticism about her words being taken seriously, Gurami's happiness was infectious so Usha couldn't help but smile and be uplifted by being near the girl. Besides, she had said the words and that was the best she could do.

She smiled and shook her head slightly. "Then I have no choice but to meet him, do I?" she laughed light-heartedly. "However, now I'm afraid I must go. There are some things I need to discuss with Tejasvi. Don't worry. It's nothing about what was said here. I will keep it a secret until you wish for it to be revealed."

Usha looked at the land around them, happy that they had found a place to call their own. At least three generations of her family had been spent leading the pride to this place out of Persia. And while she was still skeptic about if all the lives they lost on the journey was worth it, she still couldn't help but find the location beautiful. To find someone to share it with was an easy lure. There was a brief pang that she could not afford to do the same. But then it passed.

"Good day, Gurami," she said politely.

((hehe not to worry! Thankyou for rping with me! *glomps*))

Looking to the queen the pale custard coloured lioness gave a gentle nod and a smile. She had listened well to the queen and she knew the road ahead would be long and fraught with troubles for herself and for Banda, but she felt they could get through them, together.

Tilting her head in a nod the lilac eyed femme gave a puurr "Farewell ma'am. Thankyou for the advice." She whispers heading off towards the edge of the pridal borders. Now all she had to do, was tell Banda. That was the hardest part.
