The other night, I was thinking something along the lines of "What if (?????) was Erik, (?) was Christine and, (?) was Meg. Some people are just perfect for playing certain roles, if you know what I mean. Some others well....aren't, but it would be funny to see them in that particular role.

So, what on your opinions on who would make a wonderful or disastrous Erik, or any other character from POTO. These suggestions can be a friend, family member, celebrity, or a charcter from a TV show, book, anime, manga, etc. Or yourself, I suppose.

My personal idea right now is Gerald Way as Erik and Emilie Autumn as Carlotta.

Now, that would be quite interesting.

A man who felt too much
A man with scars too deep
A man whose name meant only fear and scorn

Stephen F. Schmidt makes a good Raoul.

You know, if something were to incorporate child-Erik into the plot, I think Jean-Baptiste Maunier would be a good choice (if it were only a few years earlier). He has (or had, rather) a crystal-clear male soprano voice... oh my gosh you have to hear it... *heart*

Edit: I found a perfect Christine. Mirusia Louwerse. Also beautiful... *sigh*

A man who longed to touch
A man who longed to weep
A man whose only crime was being born
-Erik, The Phantom of the Opera, Tom Alonso

imo, the worst Erik ever would be Michael Jackson.

Although the fact that he'd be a creepy noseless guy playing a creepy noseless guy might actually make him the best Erik ever. gonk gonk gonk I think I heard somewhere that he actually expressed interest in the title role for the '04 movie.

HELLZ 2 DA NAW.

Have you heard Michael Jackson's high notes? He'd OWN at playing Christine.

Okay, this is who I want to play ALW!Erik. Takeshi Kaga. You know, the chairman from Iron Chef.

What I actually didn't know about Kaga (until I looked it up about five minutes ago) is that he's quite an accomplished actor. He's played Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, Tony in West Side Story, and Jean Valjean and Javert in Les Misérables. He's also appeared in Macbeth, Jekyll and Hyde and The Threepenny Opera.

He can probably sing, seeing as he's been in Les Mis. And...he always seemed so dramatic on Iron Chef, when he bites the pepper and says "Allez cuisine!" and all that. And his costumes are so outlandish. And basically, he's just awesome enough to be Erik.

btw, Iron Chef America sucks @$$. Nothing can surpass the original Ryouri no Tetsujin...the greatest cooking show of all time.

That's a somewhat flamboyant Erik. What does his Red Death costume look like.

Best animated Erik= Johnny Yong Bosch

His singing voice is so nice...And he's an accomplished voice actor. I'm such a nerd. sweatdrop

I think Yuka of the band Kokushoku Sumire, would be a good Carlotta. Just listen to her voice in this video, haha.

Dunno how he'd be on the acting front, but I've always wanted to hear Roy Khan sing Phantom. He was originally trained in opera and he's theatrical enough on stage, so maybe. Let's make it a totally symphonic metal and add in Simone Simons as Christine.

A symphonic metal duet, eh? But we already have Tarja Turunen and Marco Hietala! Haha.

Actually, I love Tarja but I don't think her voice is very good for Christine. Same thing with Simone Simons...sounds too mature?

I'm less picky about Phantoms though. I love Roy Khan. Matt Barlow has a really interesting voice and he sang "Phantom Opera Ghost" with Iced Earth.

Ha. I'm the exact opposite. I'm quite picky about Phantoms, but I'm content with just about any Christine who can hit the notes.

I love both of those songs, but I don't think I'd want to hear Marco or Barlow sing the entire play. I picked Khan because he's got a more traditional voice with the same rock star edge. He can sing really soft and sweet or powerful and loud. I'm pretty sure his range is wide enough and it would be interesting to see if he'd incorporate any guttural growls into the more intense moments. He doesn't do them very often in studio, but he breaks them out in concert a bit more.

And yeah, I think Tarja sounds a bit too mature for Christine. I think her accent would throw it off a bit, too. Then there is her whole diva reputation, which is why I went with the more down-to-earth Simone. And yeah... she may sound a bit too mature, as well. I didn't put any thought into that "casting" beyond that she's already done five duets with Khan and they sound amazing together.
