Winter had touched the land. A thick bed of snow covered the land, making all seem new and white. It was beautiful, but bitter and cold. The icey grasp of the seasons hold, left many huddling together in warmth. Everywhere you turned, soquili and their mates were keeping close. Well, no, maybe not everywhere, but it's all that Vasu'Raj seemed to notice.

Suddenly, and for the first time, he hated being alone. His position in life, was one that he had pondered over the weeks. That position, was single. No, it didn't mean that he was truly alone, he had his family after all. There was even an occasional friend along the way. Vasu had no mate.

Just this last week, he had set out seeking his mother's advice. He questioned her about mares, love, and finding 'the one'. The main thing he had taken away from their conversation, is that it would take time. It didn't change the fact that he still felt alone at this moment.

A heavy weight pulled on the honeydew swirled, black stallion. His shoulders hung low, and his hooves dragged almost complete solid lines in the virgin snow.

He paused as a cool breeze blew over him. It was refreshing. Lifting his head to the sky, he closed his eyes as a few stray curls blew in front of his face. The cool air didn't bother him at the moment, and he welcomed it. Opening his eyes, he took in a deep breath. He noticed he was a sluggish mess, and tried to right his posture.

Your pitiful..what would your father think of you? he asked himself. His father was a proud man, and that meant he was part of that pride as his son.

Suck it up! And with that he flipped his mane and tightened his lip. He had to stop pouting! No lady would find that attractive.

So there he was, having this inside battle with himself. His mother had told him to be himself, but that didn't mean he should give in to sulking. At least the white snow was easy on the eyes. It was silently beautiful, and it's beauty eased Vasu's mind. His crystal blue eyes tranced, as they scanned the land about him.

Winter is Frosta's favorite season, for all of the obvious reasons so she is at the peak of her happiness right now when she saw the snow on the ground, the temperature under 20's and everything seems to be perfect all around. The mare dances around excitedly as she sashays down the mountains to explore the winter wonderland. Frosta knows that her children and possibility grandchildren strives for this kind of season because she taught them that winter are the best season due to no annoying bugs and the peace along with serenity of the season.

Frosta stood in the snow-covered meadow near the mountains with bare trees behind her. The strong gust of wind blew by, causing the swirl of loose snow to fly up into the air and hits Frosta's body and mane but Frosta just stood there with a huge smile on her face and excitement gleaming in her eyes. The snow peppers all over her body and she didn't do anything to shake it off, its almost like she embraced the snow like it is her own soul. She knows that Isabella is off with her mate and her three baskets just like Glacier is with her mate and two baskets and her heart swells up with pride because she is a very proud grandmother all over again.

Wait...what's this? As Vasu soaked up the view of white, he saw a gleam of icey blue. His face formed an o' as he curiously moved closer. It was almost catlike the way his hooves moved, but the movement barely reflected in the rest of his body.

It was a mare. And not just any mare from what he could see. With a tilt of his head, filled with wonderment, he stopped and even stared. She was a brilliant blue, with hair as pure as the snow. It even seemed like the snow was part of her, as icey blue strands wisped up her legs.

Vasu' wasn't breathing. The true-blue mare had taken his breath away.

In an instant, he decided that was the mare for him. A perfect prize for any lone stallion. Man! She was fantastic!

His mouth unhinged and would of dropped to the snow floor, ..if it wasn't still half attached.

The cardinal streaks across the meadow and lands on Frosta's nose to sing her a song and Frosta's eyes went crossed but a gleeful smile appears on her muzzle. She stood really still to let the cardinal sing his song and go on his way She giggles as the bird flew off but her eyes lands on to the black stallion that stood out in midst of the snow and whiteness like a sore thumb. She could see that his mouth was gaping open and he was staring at her like she was an angel.

An amused smile appears on her face as Frosta walks over to the stallion. "Like what you see, stallion?" Frosta playfully says as she tosses her mane to other side before she grins at him. "I am Frosta and what is your name?"

Yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! Vasu's mind rang the word as she not only began talking to him, but even smiled his way. He almost stumbled as he began to speak. All coordination had betrayed him and fell out the back of his mind. One front leg crossed over the other, and then he pulled himself straight. He almost hit the ground.

"MynamesVasu'....Raj." A race of words flew from his mouth, jumbled together, till he heard himself speaking. That's where the pause in his name came in. He sounded so foolish. He cleared his throat and adjusted himself. "Ahmm.. I'm Vasu. It is a great pleasure to meet you, Frosta." He said with a twinkle in his eye, as he repeated her name.

The grin on his face was so wide. He thought of his answer to her question-Well yeah! It wasn't the answer he gave her of course. "Miss, you are quite the vision." His deep grin spread to a waggle of his eyebrows at the cool blue mare.

Frosta tries not to look amused as she looks at the stallion with a mild curiosity gleaming in her eyes. "Are you all right?" She started forward when she sees him tripping over his front legs. "Little clumsy are we?" Frosta grinned at him before she flicks her tail slightly.

Frosta could see that the stallion is taken back by her beauty or something along that line. "Remember to breathe when you talk so you won't stumble all over your words, Vasu." She finally looks amused as she watches the stallion in front of her. "Its my pleasure." She grins at him, not sure if she should tell him outright that she might have a mate.

"Why thank you... you are not the first to compliment me on that." Frosta grinned crookedly at him before she shakes her head in amusement. "And honey... you are coming on too heavy right there." She winks at him playfully. "If you want to get a mare.. you need to know how to approach her and how to hit on her without being too obvious about that."

A rock! D: I need a rock! he thought to himself. And if there had been one in the near, he would of surely pounded his head against it. He was such a dunce! He knew it couldn't be that easy. He had let a predatory nature take over him at the sight of the first mare!

"Uhh....your right. But uh, you are pretty." He said, almost bashfully now, as he pawed at a seemingly interesting patch of snow. He didn't know what to say now, and thought for a moment about walking away.

She was so perfect, but obviously not as easily attainable as any stallion might dream. Things don't come free in this land, or at least not often.

He mused. "Give a guy another chance?" He said, still focusing on the patch of snow he was pawing at so diligently. He really had no clue how to approach a lady, at all.

If he had taken a second, he would of seen that she was not only wiser than him, but completely out of his league. Or it's what he what of thought.

Frosta watches the emotions play on the stallion's face and she tries her best not to chuckle because she is amused at the antics. Her icy blue eyes watches Vasu and she smiles widely at his comment. "Thank you! I think you are quite handsome yourself." She replies as she looks down at the patch of the snow Vasu is pawing at. "Anything interesting about that snow?" She teases the stallion.

Frosta chuckles quietly as she looks at Vasu. "Why not? perhaps you can learn the finer point of picking ladies up." She winks at the stallion playfully as she cocks her head to side as she watches him pawing at the snow. She thinks its very cute that he is being shy right now.

Vasu stamped the patch of snow, halting his fidgeting at her notice. He sighed. He could easily turn and run away....couldn't he? What a waste though, she was really pretty even if he had acted like a fool.

He straightened up, presenting himself for the second try. "Good afternoon, Frosta." There was a small pause while he decided what to say next.

"Might I ask what brings you here today?" he knew why he was here. He was trying to redeem himself currently. If only it was easier than this. Couldn't a beautiful mare such as this, just fall from the heavens and be an easy catch for him? Evidently not. He was doomed.
