I was discussing the fact that I have to marry an HP fan in another thread here, and that made me wonder what effect our beloved series has or might have on our relationships..
Are you dating/married to an HP Fan? Are you dating/married to an HP Hater? (Gasp!) Are you dating/married to someone who is indifferent?
Have you decided that this person is ok to date because they love HP? How does this obsession play into your 'romantic' life?
Are you dating an HP character? [Impresssive.. xd ]
Let's share - because 'sharing is caring' *laughs*

You know what? I don't know. I haven't asked him yet. I just met him like 3 weeks ago. I kinda do hope he's a fan I relly feel like that would be something cool because I love discussing things that are Harry Potter related with people. I don't think it would effect my lovelife too much though, even if I prefer to talk to someone about the series. I just usually like my men for their personalities, not their tastes in books.

I've only dated one person that was a major HP fan. That doesn't really affect my choice of who I date. It would be a major plus, but I look for totally different things in a partner. (It would be an even bigger plus if they looked like someone from HP too!)

I have dated a harry potter fan, but we broke up but still friends though. We promised we'd still go to the newest movie together though. Very nice guy, but it didnt work out being boyfriend and girlfriend though we realized we are just good being friends.

I've never had a boyfriend, but if I ever have one he'll have to have read at least one of the Harry Potter books. He'll also have to like manga, but that's unrelated to HP!

    Hm, so an interesting mix.
I'm currently talking to a guy who is (fortunately for me) an HP fan - and to me that's important to share a love of literature and a passion for reading.

That is so true orna! Unfortunately my love interest is well a musician, so he just adores rock music. Fortunately for both of us...we both like the same type of music and we do have other things in common. Oh well....it happends. ninja

Well, the last guy I dated I didn't ask whether he was a Harry Potter fan because we broke up before I got the chance. I guess any guy I would ever like doesn't have to love HP as much as I do, but at least has to be patient and a bit understanding when I begin ranting about the latest fanfiction I read. -shrugs-

My boyfriend isn't a huge fan, but he's read all the books and watched all the films. When OotP came out I dragged him to the cinema six or seven times, and he didn't complain, he just brought a pillow and went to sleep next to me while I watched them again and again.
He even queued up with me from 4:30pm, until midnight to get Deathly Hallows, and he only disappeared eight or nine times into the pub, although he brought a few drinks out and sat with me after 9pm.
He will occasionally read fanfiction, as long as there's a decent amount of action.

Hrm...I never base my decisions off of a book (I mean, it's not like I can obliviate someone...) (That would be nice, though...) My boyfriend has read all of the HP books, but isn't crazy about it XD Lots of my friends are though, so that's nice. ^ ^

Not many people would also wait up at night to get a book.

Personally, I don't want to see myself dating a person who doesn't like Harry Potter. It would seem really werid because I'm superly (is that a word?) obsessed. I wouldn't mind if they only liked the movies cause then it gives me a chance to teach them everything I know biggrin Of course that means having to stand me going on and on and on and on etc.

Tell me about it! Plus he puts up with my demented ramblings when I read fanfiction and something happens to get my hackles up, or if I suddenly get an idea for a fic I'm writing and I run around like mad trying to put it all together.
It was bad when we had a Harry Potter night and watched the films one after the other (over three days), because I was constantly egging the characters on by saying things like 'Hit him hard...no! Duck!' When Harry was fighting, etc... You know?
It's wonderful, the way he puts up with me.
