"Oh Snickers, as the leader of the hunting party you have to hunt for us! Nyah, nyah, nyah..."
A dramatic huff followed that statement, accompanied by the rustlings of the nearby trees as the male pulled himself through.
Ears flicked back a minute later as he came up with another thought to argue for his personal discussion. "Hunting leader....How should I know what that implied?" Gah! Pack life was so difficult, especially with those siblings of his nagging at him all the time. All he asked was for total worship and to have every luxury provided for him, was that too much to ask?
"Obviously. Those little self-concerned little no good bags of fluff. It's not even the good kind of fluff, the matted, /ugly/ kind of fluff that they are."
Sticking his nose up haughtily in the air, the egotistical wolf padded through the brush around his pack's terra.

The crisp stalks of bracken trembled beneath the light lilt of cream-laced paws. Pale audits flicked and twitched, swiveling with a hypersensitivity unknown to most. One so timid had to always be alert, ever aware of the surroundings. Especially when they felt so foreign, so distant within the recesses of her mind. Vaguely she recalled the forest she had been born into, but after months of flight and traversing faraway lands everything felt… different to put it lightly.
Abruptly her forepaw stilled, dangling in midair as the atmosphere swathing her dainty form grew tense. Not intentionally or actually tense, mind, but tense to her. Vanya inclined her muzzle, drawing it up and settling her darting, emerald gaze on her surroundings. The scenery was a lush array of colors. Fiery hues mingled with their lighter cousins, painting the otherwise barren and brittle landscape a myriad of hues. Vaguely, however, her intense gaze captured the faint hints of a rich chocolatey shade quite unlike the brilliant landscape. Quizzically her maw tilted to the side, a segue of fluttering blinks ensuing.
Immediately her mind formed an answer to her puzzlement as the blustery winds teased her flared nostrils with the faint musk of her brethren. Wolf. And a pack wolf no less, it appeared; one could assume by the collection of similar scents clinging to that sole scent.
Shaking her head, Vanya approached steadily and as she did so she gathered the sounds that had sparked her halt were words. Complaints it seemed? She had no place to comment and even still did not wish to intrude… For all she knew she could be trespassing upon pack lands! Although, one could not deny company after remaining in solitude for so long. Thus, like a magnet to the north pole she dreamily drifted forward only to crouch in the undergrowth and investigate silently from afar. It wasn’t typically her way to be so curious, so bold, even, but as aforementioned she desired company whether or not she knew this…

Now, to hunt. How was he supposed to do that, now? It's not like he /couldn't/, with his wonderful personality and dazzling good looks, he could do anything he wanted.
Except hunt. Because, plain and simple, hunting required skill, which, Snickers obviously had none of. It also required one to be quiet, another thing that was virtually impossible for him. Why did they make it so hard?
Mumbling incoherent nonsense to himself the male sulked his way around, attempting, hoping, praying that some dumb furry animal would simply leap into his path and offer itself up for his enjoyment. Like that'd happen.
"Here, my chickadee~ I know you're out there, just come out and play~" Snickers cooed, looking around him, white eyebrows were arched with curiosity whilst ears flicked like tiny radars as he hunted for the small vermin and fuzzy things of the forest.

Tension mounted as time steadily passed. All the while spring green eyes trailed the movements of the richly patterned male. His movements were erratic, brooding and emitting a stream of babbling. Much like a silly little stream grumbling about foliage clogging its path.
That in itself was a frivolous thought though - to most anyway. Water was just that: water. A life-giving element no doubt and necessity to all life, but it was no entity. No mixture of emotions flowed through its ever-changing shapes and twists.
At least not to most. To Vanya water was just as much alive as any oak or spiraling tree, as an stalk of grass or tiny acorn. Not quite like creatures such as wolves and foxes, but rather a silent, revered object of interest. But then, only silent if you never really listened. Water made noises, true, but there were words beneath the incoherent gurgling…
But water was a fickle thing to think of when no source was evident and only the coming winter’s toll and the curious chocolate canine were about. Of course, that wolf grew all the more curious by the seconds as suddenly a bizarre, tri-hued pattern stretched across his flank came into view. Vanya couldn’t help but tilt her head and she could only tilt it further when he began to call for a chickadee. Did this strange male have some sort of connection with birds - was he one of those fabled shamans…? It seemed awkward for one to hold a bond with such a creature when it appeared as those he was hunting. Foolish even. To scar the mythic bond you have forged? Absolutely foolish. Then…
It seemed only reasonable he had no bond.
So what was he doing calling for a bird?
[ Sorry about taking so long... ^ ^; Replies should be faster this weekend and then after next week once I take my midterms. ]

Hm. It didn't work. How utterly odd. It should've come, entranced by his utterly gorgeous looks and voice. But they didn't.
"Maybe they're just deaf..."
The wolf inquired to himself, stooping momentarily to check for life under a leafy bush. Nope, nothing. At that moment his stomach rumbled a small complaint. Fabulous. How many wolves would /kill/ for his body, what lengths he went to for beauty! And now it would be ruined because he would starve and die and all the world would weep!
The male let out a dramatic sigh. "What a poor world..."

Unable to quench her bubbling curiosity, Vanya swallowed roughly and gingerly pushed through the fronds of bracken. Promptly she straightened to her full height - which was hardly much at all in comparison to the average wolf - but made certain to keep her tail lowered, the brush of which trembled and made to move between her legs. She had grown stronger, but it seemed she had yet to account for just how powerful she was when graced with company in unknown territory more than likely inhabited by a pack.
In short, it wasn’t much not even when set upon some great, imaginary scale with Snickers poised on the other side.
Ears darting back to flatten on her skull meekly, the she-wolf searched for some way to explain her appearance or to even stir up idle chatter. In the end all she came up with was, “Uhm…may-maybe… if you were a little quieter… pr-prey would be ease-easier to find…”
Inwardly she could only curse her reoccurring stutter and berate herself in a subdued manner at how foolish she was. Because, oh yes, waltzing up to an unknown wolf in unknown territory only a few weeks after returning from some whimsical journey was precisely the smartest of things she could do!

Still stewing in the thoughts of the entire world mourning the loss of a great and beautiful, well, him, Snickers began to lose notice of the world around him. The wolf attempted to fake faint, flopping himself against a sturdy hedge with a look of pure despair at such a predicament. Then Crunch would be sorry for making him hunting leader instead of his rightful job as alpha and overlord of all females!
"Woe is the world~"
The male let out a dramatic moan, placing a paw upon his muzzle. No, no. Needed more angst, less howl. The wolf tried his theatrics once more, repeating this until he got the tone of over-dramatic pain and suffering that he had worked so hard to strive for.
That was until, he heard of the female. Ears flicked upwards from their position and the chocolate-furred male nearly jumped out of his hide in surprise. Not cool! Clearing his throat Snickers looked at the meek little femme practically cowering at his feet, attempting to pull himself into a more appealing and manly pose to meet her.
"Ah, but you see, beautiful. I found just what I was looking for, because you are definitely more delicious than any morsel of prey. For the eyes that is." Instantly from the same maw that uttered the gasping moan came what was the equivalent of liquid chocolate to the ears, the male giving Vanya a flattering wink as he eyed her.
