The sun was nearing its peak in the sky and Veserus had moved into the protection of the shaded forest. Having such a fair coat made him vulnerable to the midday rays, plus with winter coming, the trees helped disspell the bitter winds. He didn't exactly blend into the forest surroundings, but he enjoyed it none the less. His gaze drifted to the treetops, listening to the birds twittering above.
Every so often as he'd move, his long mane or tail would catch on a briar or a root. He'd pause and work himself free before continuing on. A rustle underneath a nearby bush snagged Ves' attention. He moved closer, ears forward. He lowered his head to peek at what was moving about. A chipmunk dashed out from under the bush and way through the inquisitive stallion's legs. Ves blinked a little as he raised his head. "Sorry for the intrusion," he muttered after the small mammal.

Despite the length of the day, it was the nights that Dappletail often feared the most. This time of year was the worst for the poor cat marked blonde Soquili. If it wasn't the chill of the eve on her thin coat, it was the noise and very essence of the night that sent chills down her back and weak legs.
This was why the caramel and cream mare was happy with the sun being out at the moment, feeling it on her short fur and being able to blend in with the forest that simpler. Cream hooves barely made the leaves stir as the slight framed mare walked slowly through the infinte trees and towards a destination that she never had set when she started. Icy eyes watched everything warily, on alert for the smallest of sounds or the smallest of motions that seemed out of place. For it wasn't just that she was looking for something to move, she was looking for something that might startle her and clench her weakened heart in such a way that would force her to lose her balance and topple right onto the ground.
Naturally it wasn't the fault of the pale stallion that he managed to do this however, just that he happened to be in the wrong place and said the right thing at the worst time. This causing Dappletail to end up letting out a gasp of shock mixed with fear, her heart clamping down uncomfortably and allowing her to topple out of the bushes... onto his front hooves.
The wrenching pain of her weak heart being strained by adrenaline pouring into it and through her bloodstream left her fairly incapacitated, however she did her best to mutter out a shakey response that was so indiscernable that even she wasn't sure of what she said. Only after a few moments had passed was the mare able to pull herself together, still sprawled on the stallion's hooves meekly from fear of moving lest he snap at her and cause her to run.
What a day this had turned into.

Veserus was certainly startled at the dapple coated mare tumbling out of the bushes and onto his front hooves, but he didn't spook. He blinked down at her before giving a slight shake of his head to get his head back down to earth. "Oh, are you alright? If I startled you, I apologize. It wasn't my intention." His tone was relaxed. He took a step back to allow the mare room to stand. He was willing to help if need be. "I can help you up if you need me to." He felt bad for giving her a such scare. Ves hadn't realized she had been as close as she was. He made a mental note to pay more attention during his forest excursions from now on.
He noticed how the sunlight shining through the leaves seemed to blend and enhance the dappled mare's coat. He guessed that's why he didn't see her immediately. That and a chipmunk had raced out underneath him.
