( Backdated RP, as if Family RP attempt never happened. ) It'd been two days since his little chat with Sineri, and Tete knew he was running out of time to question his dad if he wanted to have answers in time to go and tell Sin. They'd promised they both would ask, he didn't want to go and find her only to tell her he'd chickened out at the last minute. There was nothing like a deadline to motivate you to get sometime you didn't want to do done. So Tete, still a bit anxious around his grandmother, waited for a time when he could talk to his dad all by himself. The opportunity arose quite suddenly when Tete was on his way back from exploring the area in which they now lived a bit more, he was covered in dirt but he didn't really seem to care at that moment. As he skipped along on his way home, he noticed his father was out by himself- and realized it was the perfect time to ask.
"Daaaad," he called, not hesitating as he might have were it any sooner or without the promise he made.

Kubwa had been wandering, which was much like saying the pale lion was breathing or eating dinner. His pelt looked distinctly dirtier than usual and a few patches of fur were missing around his paws. He worried day in and out about his only treasure, Tetemeko, who was really a gem in Kubwa's eyes. His mistake in falling lin love with an immortal had led to te perfect gift, and he wanted the world for his young son.
His wanderings were full of thoughts about a beautiful tan female and his son they muddied his perception on what was currently happening and at first when he heard the familiar call of Tete he thought it was in his dreams. He stopped moving for a moment and swung his head back and forth.
"Tetemeko!" He bubbled happily, and for a moment thought he could be seeing somehing that was in his thoughts..and he had responded aloud to it. What's done, is done he thought and hoped his son was really there and that he was not that disoriented.
(I'd like to finish this rp..then the Pepo Mama? I feel really drawn to Kub and Pep right now. <3333333 Kari and Hasidi family make me feel sad. :-S We need to talk about them.)

Tete picked up the pace when Kubwa spotted him and called out, a toothy grin on his face. With a short hesitation to build up the momentum, he pounced over at his father- landing half on Kub's side and half on the ground, only to end up sliding all the way to the ground (and leaving muddy paw prints on Kubwa's already dusty fur).
"I'm back," he said brightly, knowing that his father usually liked to know where he was, "I went exploring over that-a way, and I ended up near the river.." And thus it was explained how he ended up so dirty.

The pale father usually avoided the mud at all costs, but Tetemeko had given him a new found love of the earthy mess that was now smeared onto him. He slumped over and mimicked Tete's current position on the ground. The impact confirmed it, Tete wasn't a vision he was here right now.
"The river? See anything interesting? Like Grandma playing in the shallows?" he chuckled, Aadil was much like Tetemeko and often covered herself in mud, "and thank you for telling me where you were, little man. Makes me happy to know your safe," he added the cliche father's line in for reassurance that it was greatly appreicated to know where he was at all times.

"Can't get into much trouble around here," Tete pointed out brightly, ignoring the fact their were other creatures in the Pridelands that might not be so safe- but generally they all were happy together, and Tete felt very safe how he was! As long as he had his father, everything was just peachy.
"Gram likes to play in the mud too?" Tete asked curiously, sounding alost doubtful at the idea. Maybe she was more fun than she seemed some of the time, but he wished it could be when he was around. He shook his head, shaking away the thoughts, and looked back up to Kubwa, "Dad, can I ask you something?"

"Grandma nearly lives in the mud!" Kubwa chuckled and thought about his mother submerged in the water and teaching him how to keep cool in the summer, "Hey, I got into tons of trouble at your age! Grandma didn't keep an eye on me like I do wih you."
Kubwa hesitated to ask what the questions his son had were and inhaled deeply before continuing, "Ask anything, I'll tell you anything I know." He did not sound too excited or happy about the idea of Tetemeko asking questions they almost always invovled skirting around Boma. He had told Kiasi about Boma but not much, it was easier to confide in strangers, he hoped soon he'd be able to tell Kiasi more.
He closed his eyes for a moment waiting for his sons question, and silently hoing the question would be something silly.

"G-grandma wasn't too happy when we first came and saw her," he started carefully, not sure how to approach the topic now that he was trying. He had to get to it, of course, but how direct would be best?
"She got mad about my mother," he said finally, deciding to just go for it if he was going to get this out, "Y-you didn't really say much- what's more important than being with us here? Grandma wouldn't have assumed she should be around if there were lots of important reasons..right? Is it really for just a little while?"

"Grandma was afraid that I took you from someone, that I was bad and stole you from your real parents," he quickly added, "I didn't you are my blood through and through." Kubwa rolled and came to a proper sitting position as he thought about how to answer his young son's questions. Tetemeko was nearing the age that Kubwa himself was when he had met Boma'burudi, he understood the need for answers quite well.
His brown eyes looked sadly down at Tetemeko as he began, "Your mother's name is Boma'burudi, and she's the silliest lion I have ever met, because you are the most important thing in the world. Nothing I can think of is more important. She was silly to leave. Grandma thought you needed a mother to be a good boy, but we've proved her wrong, you are the very best boy." He needed to talk more about Boma but it felt like there was a knot in his throat.
"I don't think she will come back, she might, but I doubt it very much. Your mom is a..is a.." He was sure now that his throat would close and he would not be able to say it, "she's a goddess and I think that's why she left." He knew a little more about it, how she was afraid of his mortality but could he really tell his son about all of that?

At the very suggestion of him having been stolen from his natural parents was ridiculous, even for Tete. He couldn't imagine his daddy ever doing something like that, they belonged together! And if he wasn't his daddy, Tai wouldn't have let him take him. Tai must have known, or she would have kept him. Grandma was just being silly.
When Kubwa moved on to the topic of his mother, though, Tete paid attention again and hung onto every word he said. Boma'burudi was a really long name, he noticed first. Privately, he agreed with his dad that nothing really seemed much more important than being with them- they were a happy little family, they didn't need her but that didn't mean she wouldn't have been important if she stayed.
He was quiet up until Kubwa said that Boma was a goddess, and that was why she left.
"What does goddess mean?" he asked, tilting his head.

Kubwa took a deep breath and wracked his brain for a way to explain it lightly, he only knew what Boma said, which was little, and what Wahabu had told him.
"A goddess means she has special powers, and wings...your mother controlled something to do with the earth," her murmured. His eyes shifted uneasily from his son and then back to his paws.
"She can never die, I know that, she will live forever."

Tete watched his father with wide, brown eyes. This was really weird, special powers and wings? Daddy had mentioned flying lions before, but Tete had taken it mostly to be more joking around. And this was his mother they were talking about- why didn't he had wings or special powers? As if expecting to find sprouting feathers, he turned his head to get a look at his back.
Nope, nothing there.
He looked back in time to be told that his mother would live forever.
"R-really?" he asked skeptically, not sounding much like he believed it, "You're not just teasing me, are you?"

"Tetemeko, I would never tease about this, I kept the secret becaue I thought everyone would think I was lieing, and I thought I was protecting you," his voice grew stronger trying to reasure Tete.
"She loved you a lot and that's why she gave you to me, that's something I know for certain as well. She left you a gift too, I can show you if you would like to see it? I had meant to give it to you when you were older, but you're a big boy." Kubwa was very proud of his 'big boy' Tetemeko had to go through a lot with a father like Kubwa, but together Kubwa was certain they would survive and they had. The pale father thought back to the day Mtima came to him and he shivered thinking about how sure he was about being a father, and how stubborn he was that he'd be able to take care of the little fluff ball Tai gave him.
"I cannot stress enough how much I love you, Tetemeko," he added.

Tete was completely silent when Kubwa assured him he was not teasing and would not tease him about something like this. He supposed this was a pretty good explanation about why he hadn't said anything before.. it was pretty hard to believe. He blinked at the mention of there being a gift for him, and slowly he nodded.
"O-ok. What's the gift?" he asked curiously, his mind still trying to deal with all of the information. He didn't doubt his father loved him, and now he was starting to think that maybe it could be possible his mother did.. but just couldn't be there.. it was very confusing for him.

"She left you two of her feathers, she had beautiful wings, one silver and one gold. The markings on your shoulders are from her and the brown in your legs, although seeing as our whole family is brown I am not so sure," he mused allowed, "They're at my tree if you want to go get them we will, or if you'd like to do something else?" He eyed Tete nervously he was young but not too young to get this information. It still seemed hard to explain all of it, and even harde to know if his message was coming across the same way.
"For a very long time I hoped she would come back to me, to us, but I don't think she will.
Kubwa had dreams and sometimes nightmares at night of Boma'burudi coming back sometimes she would want to make a family and other times she would snatch Tetemeko away and would fly off with him into the night and Kubwa would be left searching.

Tete again looked down at himself, looking at his shoulder awkwardly, and then down to his paws. He'd never really given it much thought before, it was kind of strange now that he thought about it. He looked back up to Kubwa, noticing the nervous look but not really able to change his own expression to try to make his dad feel better. This was nothing like the kind of answer he'd have expected, if nothing else his mother was always normal in his mind.
"I want to get them," he said quietly. It'd be kind of like.. proof.
