Gold eyes, standing out amid a dark black coat, searched the dens and dunes. Not just any dens, but the dens that the royal family used. Normally, she wouldn't bother to go near. But she had to find somebody. She had to find the mate of one of the princesses. The story teller's daughter had a reason to be here, to find this particular male. They both had secrets, and it was eating at her to not be able to tell a soul. She found him laying alone, outside the den and a way's away. She wondered why for a moment, but she had a reason to be there. Approaching, she called out to him. "You. The male with the black leg markings..." She was a seer, but she didn't know names. She wasn't THAT good.

Bodaway cracked one eye open, watching the juvenile approach. She didn't look like one of Kiunguza's nieces... No, it was the story teller's daughter. That's who it was... He rose up, letting out a wide yawn. Looking at her, he frowned just a bit. "Yes, what do you want? And my name is Bodaway." He thought not of who her father was. He'd arrived after she and her brother had been born, therefore he simply assumed that the unknown lion had died.

Jua looked at the den, then at Bodaway. "I need to talk to you. Alone. With nobody listening." She glanced at the den again, knowing that Bodaway had at least one daughter... How many did he have besides? She'd never actually bothered to look at any of the cubs of the royal lines It wasn't her place to ask anything about them more than she needed to know, after all. But she was aware of one thing - She was one of very few lions NOT related to the royal line somehow.

The male pondered this, then nodded. "Alright." Tail flicking, the male walked away from the dens. They were far too crowded, after all. Even the slave dens were crowded, though far more than the pride's dens. Over the dunes and out into the desert they went, until Bodaway was certain they were in a good spot. The red male turned, looking at the dark little female. "Now.. What do you wish to talk about?"

Jua'taka made sure to memorise the way they went. There were no turns, thankfully, just a straight line. But like any Firekin, she knew her way around the desert without having to ask or really look. She just KNEW. Her eyes turned up towards the male's, seeming to evaluate him. After a moment, she frowned, "I know things. I see things. I know what happens here and now in other places, and I'm working on seeing things that have happened." She looked out to the dunes, to the south. "And I know that you hold secrets similar to my own secrets." She looked at him again, watching for his reaction.

She knew he had secrets? What did she know, exactly? And... How? He thought about how she said she saw things, things that were happening elsewhere now... Was she a seer like Kiunguza? He circled her, watching carefully. "Just what do you know, little one?" Did she know about him adopting Zimwi as a brother? Danzi, Kabichi, and Paki as his children? Or that secretly... Secretly, he wasn't happy that the pride was becoming all but inbred.

The juvenile paced a bit, always keeping in mind which direction home was. After a moment, her gaze returned to the adult. "I konw about the rogues and Pridelanders. Two of each, isn't it? You have some connection, some GOOD connection, to them. We share a connection with one of those Pridelanders, Bodaway." Why was she telling him this? Because why would he reveal her secrets, if she could easily reveal his? He had plenty to lose himself, especially conspiring with a Pridelander. An angry mate with a powerful father, his children... His place in the pride, maybe even his very life. She only had her life to lose, but she cared not for her own life. It was her mother she held higher than her own life.

He stared, shocked that she knew. He started to question how, but he remembered that she was a seer. Of course she knew. Did Kiunguza's sister know...? Or one of her brothers? He furrowed his brow, though, wondering which Pridelander.... It dawned on him. Danzi. Danzi was how they were connected. The male leaned closer, eyes narrowed. "So... It was the storyteller he fools... But why do you tell me this? That you know, what you know... How you know..." If somebody found out... "It was wise to say to not talk near the rest of the pride. Especially for your sake."

"I tell you because we both have a lot to lose, especially you. Your mate's father is the king... You'd surely be killed, and your children... I don't want to know what would happen to them. As for I... I would lose my life, my brother... And Mother would never recover." She stopped, staring across the desert. "I tell you because... It eats at me, to know that I must keep such a large secret. I tell you because it hurts that I refrain from telling Mother the truth, if only to save the last pieces of her sanity. I tell you because I know you won't tell anybody, lest your own secrets be revealed."

The male let out a sigh, listening to her. Such a heart she had... She thought about her brother, and especially her mother, before herself. She placed them above herself in importance. It was something he had to admire, even though he had years of experience. He realised, though, that she knew not about Mioyo, nor his only blood-related son. He'd keep it that way. That was something between just he and Kabichi, and nobody else. Tail flicking, he bowed his head. "I will keep your secret, as long as you keep my secrets." He glanced about, noting the sun's position. "We best get back before sunset, lest you wish to freeze in the desert and be eaten by the scorpions." He looked at her, then turned and headed towards home.

Jua'taka spared one last look out at the desert, pondering her decision. Should anybody find out... They'd both have problems. But then... She could merely say that the old one had blackmailed her. Yes, should it come to it... She would speak with a silver tongue. As she followed Bodaway back towards the pride, she told herself... It was for Mother, and for her brother. She would lie, blackmail, and deny for them. For her family, she would deny knowledge of impurity. After all, was the truth not in the eye of the beholder?
