Tuesday, August 16th.

Today I built Nashi's stall, although I havent painted it yet. Ive decided that I would rather take a picture of it after I have completed the whole project.

Nashi seems very trusting of me. She immediately took to me, and is already giving me affection. I am very pleased with this, for when I captured her I was extremely worried that she would be rebellious of the capture. I hope she keeps this up!

Well, this is Nashi's stall. Im not sure if I like it, though. It seems a bit... plain. I might have to get the ol' paint brush out again. For now it will do, though.

I introduced Nashi to her stall. She immediately went for the raspberry bush I had planted. Her little teeth tore at the leaves, and in the end she wound up with more twigs in her mouth than berries. I took a bowl down from a shelf and set it in front of her.

Inside were enough berries for plenty of meals. Her beautiful eyes gleamed and she dissapeared into the pile of berries. I laughed, eventually having to part her from the bowl, for she would get bloated the way she was going. Dissapointment spread over her face, but I promised her some later; putting the bowl back onto the highest shelf.

I showed her where she would be sleeping; a small polka dotted cushion made from the finest of materials. I also showed her a window, and she took in the scene outside. There was the beach, where the moon shone above the small leaves of seaweed that crawled feebily out from the waves, and there was a rainbow dimly lit in the starry sky. This lit her face up brightly, and she turned to me, inquiring.

"That is called a rainbow, Nashi," I said sweetly. "You have one on your wall too!"
I pointed to a small framed painting on the higher part of the room. "That way even when the rainbow outside is gone, you can still look at one whenever you please!" She was happy about this, naturally. "Now its time for bed. We're going to have a long day tomarrow, so get plenty of rest!"

She nodded, and tested the softness of her cushion. It seemed to meet her standards. In fact, it exceeded them, for she was fast asleep quicker than I could have ever imagined. I clapped twice, and a faux moon appeared on the ceiling. It had been a gift from my mother. A sort of house warming gift. It was simply a device that would make a room seem like night time when in fact it was daytime, although it worked just as well when it was dark outside, too.

Nashi looked absolutely beautiful under the moonlight. Her soft grey coat gleamed like silver, and her mane looked as if it was made of silk. I knew then that we would be great friends.

Wednesday, August 17th

Today I tip-toed into Nahi's stall, expecting her to be sound asleep. But to my surprise, her stall was completely empty. My heart started to race. Where had she gone? She had no idea where to go around here! How did she get out of her stall? I sped out of the barn; my eyes zooming across the beach. Nothing. I ran to the house, searching its perimiter. Nothing. Then I stopped, realizing exactly where she was. I raced to the raspberry bushes I had shown her yesterday, and there she was; happily munching; her snout red with juice.

When she spotted me she whickered a greeting. I could finally breathe easy. I tried to control my anger, however my words came harsh.

"Nahshi, NEVER do that again! I mean, I was so worried I could have passed out! I..." At that moment I realized how terrible I sounded. She hadnt meant any harm... she only wanted to have a small snack. "Oh Nashi. Im sorry. Its just... its just that I love you and I dont want anything to happen to you."

She smiled. I did also. I walked slowly up to her and tousled her mane. "Let me show you around."

When I finally pried Nashi away from her berry bushes, I showed her around the area. First the beach, where she could watch the dolphins leap out of the sea. And the house, including all of its rooms. The garden, where fresh vegitables grow. And finally the hills, where the wind blows gently and flowers cover the earth.

She seems to be quite an inquisitive foal. Everything I showed her seemed to be of great interest to her. She is now on to her own exploring; finding the small details of everything. I know that if she was able to speak she would be asking millions of questions. I think that today I will take her into town to pick out a small gift. She has just been so gentle and kind.

When I walked out to get Nashi, I found that she was extremely hyper. She was racing around, apparently unaware that I was standing there, for she ran right into me. We fell head over heels onto the ground. "Nashi!" I shouted, "Calm down!" She stood up quickly, and shook herself off. "Do you want to come into town with me today?" I asked. She didnt show her opinion. "We can get something for you to play with." She immediately nodded vigourously.

Well, the trip to town was interesting. Nashi picked out a few things, and seems to like them.

We got there in about two hours. When we arrived at the marketplace, Nashi immediately fixed her eyes on a book shop. Picking up on this, I asked her if she wanted to go inside, and she nodded yes. We entered, and there must have been millions of books on thousands of shelves. Nashi took a few minutes to search, and eventually decided on a book describing every kind of berry imaginable with color pictures.

I thought it would be best for her to have something other than the book, so we left the bookshop, purchase in hand, and looked around at the different kiosks. There were baubles and trinkets of all sorts, and many different colors of the rainbow. Nahshi fell in love with a small snitch-like ball that had swirls of rainbow mist twirling around its clear sphere. It could fly, and made small annoying noises, but Nashi wanted it and I only wanted her to be happy. I gave in and payed the fee.

Heres the little rainbow thing I got Nashi at the market. Just thought Id paste a picture of it in my journal. You know, for memories.

Nashi has calmed down quite a bit since our last trip to the market. Her little rainbow... thing keeps her energy to a limit. It zooms this way and that, beckoning her to chase it. And when she does catch up to it, it makes a little happy noise. I dont see the fun in all of it, but she seems to.

By now Nashi knows which berries are good and which ones bad. She surprised me greatly with her reading abilities, and even more with her keen sense of nature. Not really with plants, but more fruits, berries, and vegtables.

I cant wait to see this abilitiy progress.

Monday, September 21st.

Nashi and I are thinking about swimming today. When I asked her, she did not decide, but just stared up at me. She is a bit bigger now, but still no color changes. I am really wondering when this will happen, and I am looking forward to it eagerly.

Oh, Nashi is calling for me. Maybe she has decided. Ill write soon!

When I went out to the barn check on Nashi, I was quite shocked. Not only had her mane and tail turned a beautiful raspberry color (big surprise there... heh.) but her hooves had changed from grey to an absolutely stunning rainbow hue. I stood there for a moment, taking it all in, until Nashi snorted at me.

"You look... fabulous," I said lovingly to her. She pranced around, obviously showing off, and held her head high.

"So... do you want to swim?" I asked again. She halted and looked in my direction.

Finally, after a few seconds, she headed for the beach. I took this as a yes and followed her.

"I just have to get my suit on! Ill be right out!" I yelled after her.

When I got out to the beach, towel in arm, I found Nashi sitting down; watching the waves roll in. Buzzing around her head was the little winged sphere, which I now called Alken.

"Hey Nashi. Im ready. What about you?" She continued to watch the waves.
"Umm... Nashi?" She then stood up, stretched, and jumped into the sea.

Laughing, I jumped in after her.

After the swim, I hiked up the hill to the house. Nashi found a few seashells, so those are on the shelve in her stall. She had felt quite drousy and is now resting.

I just cant explain how exited I am about her color change. I was so looking forward to it, and now, just looking at her makes me want to give her a big hug.

I am a bit upset about something, though. It is a bit hard to communicate with non-yes or no answers I ask her, and of course she cant ask me anything, so it is challenging to do anything together without confusion. I heard of a changeling called Selene who could eventually (although after quite a bit of bonding with her guardian) communicate by speaking with her mind. Maybe Nashi will develop this. I sure hope so.

Nashi just woke up from her nap and is now munching on some berries. She has descovered how to pick the berries off of the bush in her room with her teeth, so that I dont have to pick them for her first.

Im thinking about taking Nashi to meet a few other foals her age. I hope she makes a friend. It would definiately be alot better than Alken. stare He is SO annoying!
