(( you know how Ahali looks >8o ))
The large lion snorted looking down at his catch boredly. It was alive, and actually, rather unharmed. He'd just finished his 'share' of a meal, anyways. A few metres away lay a half-eaten wildebeest, but under his paws was a vulture. Many more vultures already thronged at the kill, ignoring their trapped 'companion' and pecking hungrily at the lions kill. Vultures weren't small birds, and if they flocked together enough, could probably do quite a bit of damage to a lion, even like Ahali, were they not lazy, scavenging cowards, and easy to knock out of the sky, should they get low enough. This one had, infact, gotten low enough for him. As were many others, however, this particular one had decided it'd be very intelligent to peck the lion, and hurry him away from the wildebeest.
Ooh, bad move.
Vultures were not weak, and holding the down would probably be harder, if he'd just clung to its tail. But he'd tackled the bird, and promptly planted his large paws on both its wings, easily holding the creature down like this; flat on its back, wings outstretched and stuck under heavy paws, and its legs were simply too short to reach his chest, or bend enough to scratch his legs. Not to mention, the avian seemed a little shocked by suddenly being forced to the ground, when usually it could take off at will. Instead, it stared dumbly up at the huge lion. "That was dumb. " He said calmly, with a slight smirk, though the vulture's typical stench was annoying him. "You do realize I can kill you, very easily? And that your pathetic 'pals' will just watch, then fight over you remains, right? " Usually there was no point in tormenting a vulture, but Ahali was a pretty cruel lion, and the vulture had provoked him.
The buzzard kicked its legs out slightly, attempting in vain to move its wings, and squawking loudly. "Right? " Ahali said again, though this time his tone was a bit more demanding. As the bird seemed to ignore him once more, the lion unsheathed his claws, pressing them against the buzzard's 'precious' wings until it shut up. "I know you are just barely smart enough to answer me. So do it. " He growled now, and the buzzard clacked its beak a bit, then finally managed to yap something that sounded like a 'yes', and nodded its head shakily. "Then you may go. And stay in line, buzzard. " He hissed, sliding his paws off its wings, making sure to ruin a few feathers in the process before promptly stepping over the bird, that didn't dare move until the lion was a few feet away, in which case it leapt up and hopped, looking terribly crestfallen towards the wildebeest.
"Patheitc. " Ahali snorted, turning his head to watch te buzzard mesh into the others thronging around his kill, before flicking his tail and moving off. He should go find Afu, or at least catch something for her. She seemed to like it when he did that.

Isithunzi stepped out beyond the new Nchi borders. It felt so wonderful to have the pride beginning to thrive again. A smile creased her maw as she continued out into the roguelands, heading a bit south. Today, she had come to the conclusion that she would find a decent-sized gourd to re-make her drum from. Her pink eyes scanned the horizon, but she could find no proper tree that housed the gourds... Something else caught her pink view. A bunch of mangy buzzards circling in the air... "Hmf" she muttered, knowing full well what they meant. Food was below their prowling wings, but she didn't care for it- she had made a kill just that morning and had eaten her fill. She lowered her gaze and found the tree that typically had them, and sprinted to the area, eager to show her daughters what a gourde looked like.
Yet again, something caught her pink gaze. This time, though, it was something more interesting. A male, a huge one, prowling away from the birds. She wondered if she could ignore him, but decided she'd just go to the tree. If he saw her, great. If he didn't, well... That'd be alright too. She doubted he'd miss her, though, the tree was right in his line of sight. The dark lioness padded over and started to examine fallen gourds, which brought more attention to herself. There was a reason they were used for drums, they were noisy little things. She picked up a small one, examined it, and decided it had too big of a hole in it from bugs, and casually tossed it over her shoulder, picking up the next.

His reddish-orange gaze flickered, emotionless over the lioness, and at first, Ahali didn't really bother stopping his walk. She was of no interest to him, she'd ignored him, after all. And lifting his nose slightly, he knew she smelled of more than one lion. She was pridal. Even Ahali usually knew better than to attack a pridal lion, there was always risk of others nearby. He should just concentrate on finding something for Afu, yes.
But he paused.
Although far from lost, he didn't live in this area, while this lioness did seem to know what she was doing. He didn't know where the game was around these lands, but she probably did. Ooh, how the mighty have fallen. Ahali'd walked over much land, and had seen quite a lot. He'd never had a fixed home, and though he knew soon he would, in the highlands, he didn't know any land by heart. And he didn't want to spend a long time locating prey; the wildebeest he'd killed had been a scatterer, who'd got separated from its herd. And he wouldn't fetch that for Afu; it was too infested with the buzzards.
Snorting slightly, he moved in the direction of the lioness, and though he made no effort to look even remotely friendly, he didn't look agressive, his mane relaxed along his neck and shoulders, and claws sheathed, showing no evidence of what he'd just been doing to that pain of a vulture. "You, " He said loudly enough for the lioness to hear, though his voice was, typically rough and unfriendly sounding. But he kept his usuall agressive tone out; no point in scaring anyone away right now.

Under certain circumstances, Isi would've jumped at the male's voice, but she had known he was there, so there was no way he could startle her. Not the way he was acting, anyway. She tapped a claw on the gourde currently in question to hear its sound before she responded to him. It was tinnier than what she was looking for; Isi set it aside. She knew her daughter liked tinny sounds, maybe this would fit her better. After replacing it on the ground, she turned her full attention to the male.
"Yes?" she asked, her voice calm. He wasn't showing any sign of a threat, and that was comforting. Even still, she'd found that if she acted calm enough, many threats would be diverted. Such was an observation that one in the wild made. "I haven't ever seen you around here," she stated- certainly she would've remembered a lion as enormous as this one. She was sure happy he wasn't aggressive. She let out a sigh of relief inwardly as she absentmindedly tapped a claw to a silent beat in the dirt.

"Then you're lucky. " He huffed, not many usually were pleased to see him a second time. Actually, up till now, he wasn't quite sure anyone really liked seeing him, besides maybe Afu, or Gumu, who had been his traveling partner up to his death. Which was kind of his fault, as well. But he was over that, and now he and Afu were starting a pride in 'new' lands.
"You're familiar with this place, yes? " He blinked, flicking his ears slightly and for a moment allowing his calculating gaze to flick towards her paw. What the heck was she doing with her claw? However, Ahali's expression remained blank towards it, before he looked back up at Isithunzi, not really looking like he was interested in whatever she'd been doing to her claw.

She saw his glance to her claw, but since the male said nothing of it, neither would she. "Yes, I live very nearby. I know the landscape pretty well," she said honestly. She might not know it as well as her daughters, who had more time to explore it, but she remembered most of it from as far back as her cubhood. "Are you lost?" she asked fairly neutrally, though she had the sudden urge to break out in some song on the gourds. She suddenly wished she had had the chance when she first arrived at the proper tree... How she wanted to pound out a certain rhythm! Rhythm... Simply thinking the word made even more of her claws unconsciously squiggle in the dirt- if they had been on a gourd, the most exciting song would just be starting, but alas, here was this very serious male.
To satiate her need for a tune, she flicked her tail against the ground in a syncopated rhythm. It would be easy to mistake for just a restless tail, but she could feel the rhythm even more with it. She pushed that to the back of her mind... She'd deal with the male, get back to the pride, and start beating the drums for no good reason. Maybe they'd have an all-night fest!

"No. " There was no explanation needed, he owed nothing to this female. "I need to catch something for my mate, vultures took care of what was left of my wildebeest. " He flicked his tail casually to the flocking birds, still somewhere behind him as they finished off his kill. Cowardly buzzards. "But I haven't been here long enough to know where the herds are. "
Straight to the point, aren't you? "The wildebeest was lost, so I've no help from it. " He didn't seem to really be asking, but not exactly downright demanding either. Frankly, he didn't care less if this.. strange lioness decided to tell him or not. He could find them, this just might be a quicker way.

"Ah, well that's a doable thing. I know where the herds are, I'd be willing to help you make the kill too, if you'd like." Isithunzi said, deciding that the male would not be any threat to her. "At the very least, I know where they are. It's a bit of a walk, though." Isithunzi told him before glancing back at the gourd tree. She'd remember this particular tree and come back later to get what she needed.
She rose and headed for the male. "On second thought, I need to bring down an individual myself," she said. She doubted he'd have wanted her help anyway, he didn't seem like the type. "So it's a good thing you reminded me," She gave him a smile before heading off towards the herds. She needed some teeth or hoof splinters to secure a drumhead to the gourd she'd pick later in the day. She needed some hide too, and considering that the male was taking his kill to his mate, she doubted she'd be able to scavenge from his kill. She had no problem making a kill on her own, though.

An ear twitched as the lioness moved toward him. Ahali wasn't very social, and he didn't seem quite interested in hunting with this lioness, though he'd asked for 'directions', so he might as well be polite to her. "Thats not necessary. " He said to her offer to hunt, and turned to walk in the same direction she walked.
"Very well. " He flicked his tail slightly. Couldn't she just have pointed it out? Though, he probably should get used to other lions, after all, he was supposed to be a king sometime soon. But right now, he just felt like getting back to the highlands.

Isithunzi nodded as she walked Eastward. The herds tended to be over there, though her nose didn't tell her anything. She walked in an awkward silence for a while before starting to start up a little conversation. "My name's Isithunzi, Isi for short. My Pride is further west. Where're you from?" She asked. She wouldn't push if he didn't want to answer, but she didn't want to keep walking in silence.

Yes, good 'ol silence. Much better, if anything he needed to hear showed up, he could hear it. any little thing prowling in the grass, much easier. Though, like all good things, this lioness seemed like she was about to end it, and he prepared himself for answering whatever question she might throw his way. "My name is Ahali'Bagawa. " He said, even though that wasn't the answer to the question she asked. "I am a former firekin. " Glad to leave that pile of morons behind. He'd only really mentioned it because it was obvious; size, color, and perhaps even his mood. "Instead I'm from the highlands. "
He shrugged slightly, he liked mentioning the place. Whats so wrong? It was a nice place, and not that many lions ventured so far. Afu seemed to like it, too.

((*SO didn't know that Ahali had more to his name than "Ahali"* XD))
Isithunzi nodded to his name and origin. She had known he was firekin just from his size, but didn't know he left them. That must be why he didn't tear her to pieces when he met her. (Such was what she'd heard was typical of a firekin). "Oo, the highlands." Isithunzi said thoughtfully. SHe'd heard of the place. Vast plateaus and rocky landscapes... "You must be very agile to live there." She said. "I don't think I could live there. I'm not quick enough, nor graceful enough. I need flat ground," she said honestly. "I'm a decent hunter, I'm just not that good at it when the prey makes some wild turn or something." She fell into silence again, for the moment. "Just a bit further, we're getting close," she said, truly being quiet now. They both had a job to do.

(( ;D Ahali is family. So I shoved in bagawa, to make it family curse <3 but Ahali is much easier to say? xD ))
"I guess. " He shrugged. Ahali perhaps wasn't the fastest lion, he was simply too bulky for it, though he did have quite a bit of stamina to spare. However, he could chase down prey just like any other lion could. But the prey he usually went to.. well, they often fought a bit more. Chase down a colt, and wait for the mom.
"Its easier to bring them to you. " He shrugged, it was true. His ears perked slightly as shapes began to mark the horizon. Wildebeest. He thought to himself, crouching as his pace fell into a low gait. He twitched an ear slightly, looking at the lioness. "I best go catch something, then. Good luck with making a kill. " He said, though he didn't seem quite intent on wishing her good luck. "Thanks for showing me. Good-bye. " He needed nothing more, Ahali wasn't interested in getting help from Isithunzi. With a curt nod, her moved off to circle a ways around the herd and find a nice bait for a desperate mother.

"Bye," Isithunzi said to the rather short-winded lion as he slunk off to make his kill. She was surprised, he was a lot nicer than what she'd heard firekin were like. They were supposed to be bloodthirsty, and while Ahali wasn't the most social of lions she'd ever met, at least he didn't try to eat her.
She pulled herself from her thoughts and slunk off the other way. She'd head back to the gourd tree, select one, and then make a kill. It should give the male enough time for him to get a kill for his mate and head out, she wouldn't be a bother to him. Once she was far enough away her pace turned from a crawl to a walk, to a trot, to a run. She skidded to a stop at the gourd tree and started tapping her claws on the one she had lined up next.
