I'm currently studying Japanese. (yay) This week's lesson taught us that iro(h) means "color". Have you noticed any other character's name to mean something in another language?

Iroh.
They pretty much all mean something in some language or another. I'm sure there's a number of sites out there that list the many meanings.

Eep! You're right, I did spell it wrong. I just saw something close to it in my textbook and got excited.
I'm sure I could find it if I searched hard enough but I thought it'd be a fun discussion for the boards here.

Actaully the "i" is pronounced more like an "e" so it's a little different. If we did go by Japanese pronunciation, it would probably be spelled "Airo."
The only other names that I can think of that I know the meaning of is Haru ("Spring" but I'm curious about how they pronounce it on the show) and Hama from the Puppet Master which means "Shore."
We........ kinda have a similar topic going but it's in the "How to spell the names correctly thread." We don't have anything about the name meanings outside of that thread or at least we haven't for a while.

Suki means like/love, but I'm sure that's already been said...
*scans*
Huh. No, it hasn't. *shrug*
Sidenote: For MY Japanese class (xD), we have to pick a show that we like and make a character chart, showing friendships, relationships, familial links, rivalries, etc, and I was considering Avatar. xD We have to have 10 characters, which I came up with pretty easily: 1. Aang 2. Katara 3. Sokka 4. Toph 5. Zuko 6. Iroh 7. Ozai 8. Azula 9. Mai 10. Ty Lee

The friendship line between Toph and Sokka had better be only a one-way crush....

That means no Zutara, bwaha. ALSO NO TAANG. C:< There is going to be a mutual Maiko line and a mutual Kataang line. But, yeah, just a one-way Tokka line. Sigh. I'm starting to warm up a teeeeensy bit to Dukoph. (The DukexToph.) Like, minimally. Also, on another note, I know no one's said this because it's Chinese, but Yue means moon. OMGNOWAI. -_-; I remember hearing someone going, "Heyheyhey moon in Japanese is 'tsuki'... TSUKI, SUKI, SOMEONE SEEING A PATTERN?!" Silly Avatards.
