Tiruan sat quietly at the edge of the Dya'Comi' river, deep in thought. Normally he came here to try and snag some fish for a semi-easy meal, but today it was the only place he knew he could get some peace. Mekali was back from her journey, and while the lion was happy that she was back, her arrival was... well, complicated. The lioness was important to him, and he generally tried not to lie to those important to him. Well, that wasn't entirely true, but he did try to tone down the craziness of the things he said. Normally, dealing with his friends was fairly easy. Mekali, however, was different. She made him say the weirdest things before he could even let his brain catch up with his mouth. That was the reason he was out here, avoiding all company in the hopes that he wouldn't run into Mekali. He didn't want to say anything he regretted.

The lion grumbled softly under his breath, before dipping a paw into the river. Perhaps he should just catch some fish. Anything to take his mind off his problem. Thinking just wasn't his area of expertise.

Asi yawned and stretched as he slipped out of his den. The four cubs were already with Tisha, they slept in a different den with her. He only came to visit and spend time with them, he did not live with them. Still they seemed to keep him tired day in and day out.

It still didn't stop him from patrolling the lands and talking with others though, he'd finally started to do his job again after that depressed slump he'd been stuck in.

He shifted and grunted slightly moving his head a little as a bone scratched uncomfortably near his face. He wasn't used to this crown, though Adamu had told him about some of the things Ari had taught him about the elders and Asi had gotten it specially made by some odd lioness..

He sighed and shut his eyes. Better to not think of Ari right now, it was still at the point where it got him feeling very sad.

As he approached the Dya'Comi river his eyes landed on a very similar colored lion. "Oy, aye thurr." He called.

An ear twitched at the sound of an approaching lion, and for a moment Tiruan hesitated. Should he look? What if it was Mekali? He decided that the footsteps were much too heavy to belong to his friend, and so turned his head ever so slightly to look. Tiruan had to do a double take at the lion that was coming towards him. They were so similar in colour that at first glance they might have been brothers. Tiruan was so distracted by their similarities that he missed entirely what Asi had to say. He caught the final word, only to find that it didn't help him understand what the lion had said at all.

"Sorry, come again?"

Asi had thought the other male to be a much lighter shade, he'd looked lighter in coloration but as he got close he also realized the lion he was approaching could be one of his kids or grand-cubs or the like. Or even a long lost brother. Of course his nose told him this male was none of these.

He blinked as the other asked him to repeat what he'd said and shook his head, trying to rid himself of how weird it was to be looking at someone so similar that wasn't related.

"Eh? I said 'ello." He repeated, just worded it differently. "'aven't e'er seen yeh on these lan's.." He said slowly and almost threateningly, trying to see if the other belonged here or not. As a high elder he should be keeping tack of these things, right?

Tiruan tried to pay more attention to what was being said to him this time, though inwardly he was going over the number of relatives he had left. This lion definitely looked like they could be related, but Tiruan couldn't remember his face. Not to mention the fact that he should have known all of his family, coming from quite a small group. Nonetheless, it was definitely weird to feel like he was staring at a near-reflection of himself.

The lion had to listen carefully to what Asi was saying, frowning a little with the effort. Was it just him, or was this guy talking funny? No, he was sure this lion had some sort of accent or something. "Oh. Well... hello to you too." Tiruan replied slowly, still mulling over the last bit of the question, as well as the way it was being said to him. "I... haven't seen you here either?"

He frowned and just stared at the other a long moment before sitting slowly. "Wha' I mean teh say is tha' I 'ave no' seen yeh in these par's an' yeh be a stranger teh the lands. I be known as the Kijumbe an's my job teh make sure no intruders be intrudin' the lands." A mouthful to listen to, most lions that knew him were used to his odd way of speaking. Strangers were a different story though, they had trouble understanding him.

He left out the part of being the former king of the pride and all that, he didn't care about that any longer. And maybe it wasn't so true; his job was not to check up on strangers. It was to give advice to the king and take over winter festivals. What these festivals were he had no clue, he was not an original Kusini member and Ari had not told him much of the elders except that they were similar to advisers. But they were also more than just advisers, so at times it got confusing for the coffee-colored male.

The first bit of what Asi was saying was totally lost on Tiruan. Having never heard a lion speak with such a strong accent before, he had quite a bit of trouble understanding what he was saying. The first bit sounded like "what I mean to say", but then there was a bit in the middle that the lion hadn't the slightest clue about. He managed to get "stranger" out of it, and the next sentence was slightly easier to understand. It appeared that the other male thought he was an intruder, and that was why he was concerned about him being there. Well at least it made sense.

Tiruan managed to keep his mouth shut until he could force the truth out, knowing that it wasn't in his best interests to lie to this male. "I'm not a stranger here. I know Mekali, so that makes me not reeeallly a stranger. My parents were born here." Phew. Tiruan gave himself a mental pat on the back for telling the truth. It had taken quite a bit of effort though.

He just stared at the other, as if he was the one speaking a different language. Mekali? Asi frowned in thought, tail flicking. "Aye, parents born 'ere?" he said slowly, looking very confused at this. That would definetely mean he was related to Asi though! And while he looked like it he didn't think it was quite possible.

Wait unless... Ari's parents had been born here. Was he an original member? Well not orignal but a direct desendant? Asi did not like thinking.

"An' wha' be yer name, eh?" He wondered if he should give his name first but then decided against it, it could wait.

Tiruan nodded slowly, watching the other male carefully. He seemed to pacify a bit once he'd said that his parents had been born there. The lion looked confused though, but Tiruan decided that was better than aggressive. At least with confused he could be thinking things through. That would give him time to run if need be. Not that he really was too worried at the moment. He'd never managed to provoke a male lion into attacking him, and he was telling the truth in this case. Surely Asi wouldn't just attack him out of the blue.

"Tiruan," The lion had to bite his tongue before he added any more prideful titles to it. He was still on shaky ground here, and didn't want to provoke the other lion to attack him. "My parents were born here, but I wasn't. I only just came back." He paused, before he asked, "Can I ask your name?"
