So I was wondering. All of us here are fish lovers, I'm betting most of us even get quite attached to their fish, some even forming a bond with them like others have with their cat or dog.
But what of eating fish? Can you sit in a seafood restaurant, eating a grouper, while the same species is swimming next to you? Can you sit at your home, facing your aquarium while munching on some fish without feeling any bit of guilt? Do you even eat fish?
At my home, the aquarium is across the table. The fish, who get their meal after dinner, are staring straight at you, begging for food. On Fridays, we literally have fish on or plates and in our faces. Yet I've never felt guilty for eating fish. I even kept and bred Tilapia, a fish that often visits our plate, and eaten it without a second thought.
Would that make me a hart-less person? After all, we couldn't bare to think of eating a cat or a dog, in front of our own four legged pet. So what makes it so different with fish? Would you eat your own fish?
*I apologize if this was a bit too morbid.*

I have no problems eating fish. I love it. heart
My fish have eaten their fair share of other fish, so even if they knew what I was doing when I have a plate of salmon for dinner they'd be in no position to judge. 4laugh

I love fish and honestly would never think twice about not eating something just because I keep a pet that shares the same features. Meat is meat is meat. I don't have anything against eating dogs, cats or horses even. (Though I heard that horse meat is really stringy and not the best in the world..)
I am a huge sushi fan and will happily slurp down a plate of sashimi while spending a nice quiet evening watching my fish. The only reason my fish would be upset with me over that would be because they are jealous that they can't have any of my dinner! xd
These types of things don't bother me, because it's just part of the natural order. The fish that I look after are my pals, the fish on my plate is my dinner. However if one day I find that my family or myself are starving and without food for any reason whatsoever, I'm not gonna hesitate to grab my buds out of their tank and fry them up.
Believe me, if the roles were reversed, my goldfish would do the exact same thing. You just don't know how hungry those guys can get. rofl

Heh, gold fish, please don't remind me. I own a threesome myself. And I am quite aware that their nibbles on my fingers aren't loving kisses. sweatdrop But yeah, horse isn't the tastiest meat, kinda salty and too powerful, reminds me of an old goat.

I don't like eating fish to begin with. I only on occation eat flounder or flat fish. I don't even eat sashimi, since its raw fish. The fishy smell gets to me.
So with that said no, I don't feel guilty...because I barely eat fish...and it ever came down to it...eating my fishy wouldn't even be worth it...it's as big as a swedish fish gummy.

There's definitely something wrong with the fish if you've been served sashimi that has a fishy scent. Fresh raw fish should have a crisp, clean scent that you probably wouldn't even notice if you were expecting a fishy smell. Hah.. My fish probably wouldn't have much to them either. I know that all that's inside those fat bellies are guts and um.. gravel probably rofl

With a description like that I'll be sure to stay away from horse meat. ninja

I'm a vegan, so I don't eat any animal products, including fish. Come to think of it, I'm sure my fish would eat me if they had the chance. XD

I don't eat fish and haven't eaten fish even before i got fish or wanted to get pet fish, simply because i just don't like the sight of a dead fish and because i don't think that the taste is worth picking out all the annoying little bones and getting past the skin. Having said that i do eat a good cut of raw fish (sushi) and the fish that you get in the local fish and chip shop, with no bones at all. If i did like to eat fish i wouldn't feel guilty at all about it. Although going fishing makes me feel a little guilty. I always say to my dad that just because fish can't scream in agony, doesn't mean that they feel no pain at being slowly suffocated alive after being jabbed in the mouth with a hook. So when we go fishing i make sure that it's a quick death and any fish we don't intend to keep and eat i make sure it goes back into the ocean safety.
