 High flyer had spent much of the day flitting from flower to flower, the winters chill on the breeze ment that they wouldnt be around for much longer and she wanted to spend as much time with them as possable before they vanished under a blanket of snow. She rather liked snow too, but nothing was as beautiful as the flowers. Unless of corse you could count flying high above the tree tops and just soring for miles. Yes, that was beautiful too.
She giggled to herself, streaming this way and that back and forth around the forest. She had not particular corse or direction and her teal blue hair danced behind her in fanfair.

  Two old friends fluttered along over the land, back in their small original forms... the ones that other Soquili snickered at, the the form that made them feel free, weightless, and graceful. It was amazing to them, both considering themselves perpetual bachelors, has become fathers within a month of each other (though Azure a bit more willingly than Narcissus). Now, they were taking a bit of a break from the trials of parenthood to enjoy a flight through the winter winds. They teased back and forth with each other. Boasting on which mother of their children was more attractive than the other, when a beautiful flitter of color turned bother their heads. A purple and teal vision fluttered among the flowers below. Narci immediately dropped all thoughts of Viola or his progeny, instead pointedly changing his flight path towards to mare. Azure looked a bit more reluctant, but followed his friend down to meet her.

High flyer paused for a moment to wave good bye to the last bud of a rose on the bush whom was going dormant for the winter. Herwings forever buzzing like that of a humming bird. She was suspended in motion for all of a second before she streamed off and around the corner to another flower, smelling her friends for the last time before the winter chill would banish them under a blanket of snow.
At first she didnt see the others, after all she was so used to being alone, more so being the smallest of the small and with only her flowers for company. Well, the flowers or Shaylee.
The beating wings reached her ears and she thought for a moment it must be a beetle, upon turning her head her eyes where greeted with a very colorful sight indeed. Her smile was so big, and so shocked she thought her face would crack with glee. Other flutters!
"Hi!" she said her happiness bubbling up from inside her, a burst of enegry that so often seemed to explode from her small frame. She smiled to each of them in turn, noticing how they both looked like her, and then so strangely different. High flyer had rather thought all flutters where purple, wel Shaylee and her both where! Thinking now she knew what a silly thought that must have been with all the different colors of soquili in the world, and here where these two..the first two flutter boys she had ever seen. One with hues of brillinat green and blues, shining in the dappled rays of light that casscaded through the canopy, and the other as dark as night yet spotted with color that seemed to glow! Oh how very exciting!

“Hello beautiful,” Narci purred as he approached her. “I thought you were a butterfly from my vantage, but I had never seen one so shiny and lovely before! How pleasant of a surprise to find it was stunning flutter mare behind your glorious wings.”
The surge of rivalry was already beating in Azure’s chest, regardless of his feelings for Kamiki back in the mountains. Just because he was a father didn’t mean he wasn’t still a stallion, and by the gods, why did Narci think all mares will just wilt under his compliments. That puffy peacock was nothing but a lot of hot hair decorated with pretty colors. Azure was beautiful in a more subtle way, and obviously a far better lover. After all, he had five children with two different mares. Nature favored his genes, obviously.
“Please excuse my friend here,” Azure said as he came up behind Narci. “He would flatter his own reflection. True beauty speaks for itself,” he said with a pointed look to the mare. “My name is Azure, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”

High flyer blinked a little at Narci's words. She hadnt expected such a complament, and had really never been around stallions at all..save one whom had thought her wings where candy and tried to take a bite out of them....and then there was the skin walker whom did manage to take a bite out of one of them, and oh how that had smarted!
She was a little wary around the males, mainly because she didnt know what to expect. Still a smile managed to creep upon her slender features. "Oh well.. Thank you." she said, dipping her head to Narci as he had spoken so kindly, although she doubted his words. She was only herself after all.
Her teal mane swam around her as she hovered in place, the wind from her wings keeping it in constant motion, almost as if she was under water. "Its a pleasure to meet the both of you." She looked to each of them in turn, and smiled. "My name is High flyer....I'm sorry... its just I've rarely met other flutters, so I'm a little startled to meet the both of you so suddenly."

"And my name is Narci,” the peacock cut in before Azure could interrupt. “A pleasure, as I said. I may flatter, but I never lie.” He made a little bow with his head.
Azure stifled an eye roll, but instead decided to keep his attention on the lovely mare. His wings caught the sunlight with every flit, his body bouncing up and down to the motion of his wings. “We’re sorry, we didn’t mean to startle,” he said apologetically. “Just two friends, enjoying the day.”

High flyer turned to Narci and smiled, dipping her head in greeting to him. "Pleasure to meet you Narci, and I shall keep that in mind." she said with a playful wink in his direction.
Her attention then turned to Azure and his glittering wings, they both where wonderful sights and had she been a more whistful mare she would have caught her breath at the sight of them. Still, she could see that they where both handsome stallions and flutters to boot. The first two she had ever had the pleasure of meeting. "It's alright, the sky is open to everyone, and startled or not its wonderful to meet you."

Narci and Azure exchanged glances, then smiled back at the mare. “Thank you, High Flyer,” Narci purred. “It’s indeed sadly too rare a sight to see flutters flittering about. Though with winter coming maybe there will be more on the move as the flowers sleep for the winter.”
”Yes, winter is always difficult for us,” Azure chimed in. “Cold winds make it painful to fly, and our little bodies don’t hold heat well.”
”But it makes Spring that much more glorious,” Narci countered. By this time Narci had moved to Flyer’s right, and Azure to her left, so their chatter came to her in stereo.
”Have you been around these lands very long?” Azure asked with a friendly smile. “I’ve been through several winters here, so you lean the ins and outs pretty quickly.”

High flyer looked from her right to her left as each of them spoke in turn. It was true that there were not many of them, and those that did choose to venture form the flowers where even fewer still. "It is indeed...why I've only met one other flutter. My dear friend Shaylee...and even her I havent seen as of late." she pouted a little, wondering how her friend was doing.
"I like the winter though, when the winds are on the calmer side and you go with them you can fly very fast indeed!" she loved to fly fast and nothing was better than catching a good wind. "I have been here for a few winters yet... I think this will be my second in these lands. The cold isnt nice, but can be bareable... what do you two do in the cold winters?"

Azure’s pace noticeable slowed a bit as High Flyer mentioned Shaylee, and Narci’s ears flicked with recognition. “Shaylee? Why I think Azure knows Miss Shaylee, don’t you, Azure?”
The black and blue flutter shot a venomous glance at his friend, before swallowing and looking to back to the mare, catching up. “Yes, I know her. Sweet one she is. I’m sorry to hear you have lost contact recently.” He prayed that was the end of that. “Oddly enough,” we quickly continued, changing the subject, “I was born in the dead of winter, a few winters ago. Actually tomorrow is my birthday.”

"Oh really?" High flyer looked from Narci to Azure and smiled with a big grin. "How nice! The world is a small place after all." she said with a chuckle. She zipped softly to the right and left, around the boys and back to the middle. She would have to tell Shaylee she met them both! "Oh, well happy early Birthday Azure." she said, and shaylee slipped from her mind completely for the time being. "Being born in the winter time you probably have a very good understanding for the cold months." she said with a nod, because that seemed perfectly logical to her. "So...what do you boys do for fun?" she asked, turning from Azure to Narci.

The two stallions watched her zip around, Narci stealing a smug glance to Azure as she mentioned telling Shaylee about their meeting. Azure just made a mental note to not worry about it now. He hadn't done anything wrong, it was just a kind of ... awkward subject. He harbored no ill feelings Shaylee...why she should harbor any resentment towards him?
But Azure was broken from his thoughts by High Flyer's next question. Changes of subjects were swell. Both Narci and Azure broke into weaselly smiles at her innocent question, both knowing the honest answer was less innocent.
It was a perfect in, but Narci had to excercise some restraint. "Meet new friends," he smiled, giving a quick wink to Azure.
"And having new experiences," he added.

High flyer was a rather innocent mare and didnt even consider for a moment their words might have a double meaning. She smiled widly as she looked from each of them in turn. "Oh well that sounds swell. Have you met many other flutters then? Or do you just meet whom ever crosses your path?" She asked, eyes turning to each of the boys in turn.
Azure's temporary uncomfortableness never registering as the topic changed and High flyer wondered if they boys had crossed the world itself. Where they the only boys? Oh how silly of corse not! 'Side's Shaylee had children, beautiful purple ones like her, and neither of them where purple.
Genetics were lost on the colorful mare.

“Just a few,” Narci lead with. “Plenty of mares, not nearly enough with wings such as ours.” He tossed his mane in a hearty chuckle, as if to illustrate getting lost in his own memories. “Actually both the flutterful mares I’ve met were fluttercorns, you see. I met a lovely little lass named Ghost,” Narci mentally praised himself for remembering her name, “pretty in pink with charcoal wings she was. Then there was Viola. Viola and I had an interesting friendship.”
”She’s stalked you,” Azure interrupted.
”She was enthusiastic,” Narci hissed back, a bit touchy and not really wanting to talk too much about other mares when there was so much potential around. “What about you, Azure?”
Azure huffed, a bit of breath showing on the cold air. He wasn’t happy to be speaking of Shaylee again. “Just Shaylee,” he said, “And my children of course. Spellbound is a fluttercorn.”
Narci gave a wicked smiled. “And your other children? The grown ones. They are both flutters yes?”
Azure averted his eyes and rolled his shoulder non-chalantly. “Of course.”

"Oh! you two have children? How lovely." she said with a wide grin, totally missing the point Narci was trying to get at with Azure. Just because he had met Shaylee didnt mean he was the mysterious father of Shaylee's children...and truthfully her mind wasnt on shaylee or her children. She was enjoying the converstaion between them. "Spellbound? That is an interesting name." she said with a nod and a smile at Azure.
"Pardon my asking... but what is a fluttercorn?" All she would picture was a flutter mixed with corn... how would they fly? That didnt sound very nice, she blinked a little, poor little highflyer needed to get out more.
