what is it with people not showing thier true face?...am i the only one that feals like i'm whereing a mask to hide my true face?...

Haha, we all wear masks to a degree. This is actually something me and my best friend talk about sometimes, how at work we smile and act happy and respectful to all of the customers when really we couldn't give a s**t if they were rotting in hell. People have said things about me to my co workers like....

"He's such a happy young man, so nice and smiling all the time."

And another one of my friends that knows its all just an act couldn't help but laughing when one person said that to her lol.

Everyone wears some kind of mask, because there is at least one thing about everybody that "society" wont accept or agree with. Thus creates the mask.

Quote:

Creedy: Die! Die! Why won't you die?... Why won't you die?
V: Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

but its like...every time i go out to the real world...i hate hiding my true side..but i do with malace and hate..i abhor the mask...is it to late to take it off though people still might hate my true side?

Do you mean your naturally malicious and hateful, or thats the mask you use to hide what you're really like?

Either way, I don't think its too late to take off the mask, but some reasons people wear masks is for their own benifit and safety (usually emotional), and sometimes the masks are for the comfort of others. If you find people can't accept you without your mask, then they're likely not the people who would be good friends or such.

I think part of it is trust.. and there is a lot not to trust, it's a continuos cycle of wills.
Also some people are not as pleasant without their masks and they need it to function.. with jobs and other outside influences.. just my thoughts.

Some of us need masks. Or some of us have needed them in the past, and now don't know how to get rid of them. There are many different things that can make people don a mask. For many, it is trauma. For others, they feel as if they are unhappy with themselves, but are incapable of change. Eventually they convince themselves that who they used to be isn't real anymore, and begin to ignore any facets of that character that still try to shine through.

If you feel as if you don't need a mask, that's great. But for others, it is necessary for survival. Or, in some cases, old habits die hard.

Continuing on abstract themes, is it just a mask, or is the 'real you' a mask, and your 'mask' the real you? If you always wear the mask, what about you makes you /not/ what the mask shows? Are we not all comprised of masks of one sort or another? If you wear a mask long enough, is it still a mask? Do we not wear masks because we're afraid of how people will react to our faces? Do we still wear masks when we look in the mirror?

Unknown Armies
You were a problem child. Your parents said you'd be fine once you 'found yourself'. You didn't even know who was looking.
So you pretended. You put on the big fake. And soon you fooled everyone. Even yourself.
But you found you couldn't fake it forever. That hurt. Until it snapped into focus: you didn't have to fake it forever. Just for right now.
Because the truth is that there is no truth. There's nothing under the mask but another mask. It's turtles all the way down, and you can go from day to day, from life to life, mask to mask, forever and ever, always different, always new, always true.
You're a greek thespian, an African witch doctor, a shaman from Oceana - you're all of them, sacred and inviolate behind your ritual mask. You're the robber with the stocking over your head. You're Jason from Friday the 13th. You're Zorro, Darth Vader, The Man in the Iron Mask. You've mastered the art of being nobody enough that you can be anyone.
The central paradox of Personamancy is that it manipulates identity, derives power from identity, and does it all in a way that reveals identity to be an illusion. Personamancers are rabid believers in the very thing their art disproves. But by the same token, they deny it and reduce it even as they create and celebrate it.
Their existence proves they don't exist.

Also, this is relevant because I'm getting Zelda - Collector's Edition sometime next week.

Well, to hell with them then. If enjoying life means you have pets or some such, and spend a lot of time with other people, then more power to you.

You go against yourself in the worst way possible when you allow others to dictate the flow of your life. Do what makes you happy, even if it means you have to associate with other people. Even if it means you were to leave us here, and not come back.

There must be nothing standing between you and what it is that will make you happy. If people try to stop you, then I would suggest dispatching* them. Remember that you are in the right, and they will not be able to stop you.**

*does not mean killing... more just doing whatever necessary to get them out of your way.

**You must, however, still listen to reason. If it looks like someone is trying to delay or hinder you, try and figure out if they are just giving good advice, or if they want to stop you. Then act accordingly.

My feelings have become so muddled the past few years that it's imposible for me to tell what is my "mask" and what are my real feelings. I truly am a pathetic creature.

So long as it is what's best for you. We all want you to do well for yourself, even if it means leaving (or staying ^_~).

I wouldn't say pathetic. Human, maybe, but not pathetic.

Remember: you are the pinnacle of achievement in this world. There is no creature capable of surpassing your intellect, and your ability to create.

In time you will decide which the "real you" is. Think about which "side" will make you happiest... that side will undoubtedly be the right choice for you. If for no other reason than people enjoy things, and so it is safe to assume that the one that derives the most joy from life, is the side you'd naturally be if not for external circumstances.

If you realize it's a mask then you can just take it off. The trouble lies in putting on a persona and not realizing that that is what you are doing. You are always your true self. You can't escape that. You are you. You can choose to hide yourself from yourself and others, but that doesn't change you, only your appearance.

As far as myself, I have to say that I'm downright mercurial. I look at myself and I seem to be a bundle of paradoxes. I think the next step in my personal evolution is the conjunction of these opposing forces within.

We are always changing and growing. As long as you are happy then you shouldn't worry about masks. If being without a mask makes you happy, then work for it and to Hell with everyone else. This is your life; not theirs.
