You have to click "hear the extended interview" and there's something about their "circus music" but I don't remember when it is and don't feel like looking... the part about Panic! that I typed starts around 8:30...

"What is about Panic! At The Disco that compelled you to sign the unknown band?"
Ryan's sincerity, and the band's sincerity.. They were just so green, they were these guys in the desert in Vegas who had no idea about anything. His lyrics just hit me. They're vastly different from Fall Out Boy's, in the way that most of them are telling stories and I think that Ryan maintains that the lyrics are pretty fictional but from knowing Ryan I don't think that the lyrics are inherently fictional. I think that he changes names, you know, kind of.. I think that he has a karoakean way where he changes names but I think the stories are pretty close to what they are. And it was just an explosion waiting to happen. It was like somebody had shaken up a Coke and given it to me and I was like "Why doesn't anybody see this Coke is about to open and explode everywhere?!" and that was what I saw in that band.
...
I think that now everyone can see it, and now the problem is with bands like Guns 'N Roses and especially bands like Nirvana, everyone's looking for the next Nirvana but the next Nirvana's not going to come in the form of flannel shirts and a three piece with a genius songwriter who's so anti-pop it's unbelievable. The next Nirvana, or band that will be seen like that, is gonna come in a totally different form so that's... and you know I'm not in any way comparing Panic! At The Disco to Nirvana, but I'm just saying that I think that lots of times the way the record industry is they chase one idea and then oversaturate it and people become bored with it, and then they chase another idea, and then a new idea comes along and knocks that idea out, and then they chase that idea and overstaurate it, and sign a million bands that sound the same and look the same and some of them work, some of them don't..and that's kind of an unfortunate way to.....

Oh my, that thing is like 18 minutes long. xd His voice sounds weird. O.o He sounds sick or something.

A frosting bar. rofl

Poly, how far into the audio thingy does he start talking about Panic!?
PostPosted: Sat Dec 01, 2007 12:00 pm

I found another audio thingy on that website; another interview with Pete Wentz. It's entitled, "Fall Out Boy Rewrites The Gender Roles Of Rock." Pete talked about Panic! breifly...

"These dudes went from the most green band you have ever seen on the planet to these frickin' suits that look like they're sailing on the titanic and they are like, playing this bizarre circus music and making this whole different impression of pop culture that I think is cohesive with the one we're kinda making."
And then the host narrator chick lady talked about how someone in high school got Pete's attention. I don't really like how she said that Pete encourages them to wear "flamboyant clothing" and to "kiss each other on stage." How do they know that he encourages them to kiss each other on stage?! Panic! didn't get big just because of that. I mean, by the time they really started to do things like that...they were already on top of the world. They didn't really start to do things like that until Nothing Rhymes With Circus, and that was months after they won Video Of The Year. I mean, I can only think of ONE time Brendon kissed Ryan on stage before Nothing Rhymes With Circus, and that was on the cheek. Plus, Brendon claims to never have touched lips with Ryan.

Pay attention City! xp I said the part I typed starts at 8 minutes, and before then he talks about them also (something about circus music) but I didn't remember when that was...

The stuff you posted is from the same interview, that's the circus music part that I meant! xp domokun

And yes the interviewer bothered me too. She also said Ryan was Panic!'s frontman. Which I don't really agree with xp And also the encouraging thing, 'cause I doubt that's true. I'm pretty sure the clothes and Brendon kissing Ryan before Lying.. was their own thing, not some plan Pete came up with to make them successful rolleyes

That's why I liked the ending, Pete was explaining how things are a lot less calculated than some people believe...

If you click the link I posted the title of the site and article is also "Fall Out Boy Rewrites the Gender Roles of Rock" mad D xp

And yeah I thought he sounded weird too. Sometimes he sounded normal again, other times he sounded.. hoarse xp He has a really recognizable voice though.. one time my little brother was watching a video and Pete was talking in it, and as I was walking in the hall to his room I yelled "Peeeete!" and then went in his room to see what he was watching. And he was like "how did you know?" and I was just like "uhh I recognize his voice?!" and my brother kind of rolled his eyes and called me obsessed. Whatever.

Stupid computer! scream
But yeah like City said, it's almost 20 minutes long so xp :domo

And also.. I don't think Panic! would still be unknown without Pete surprised
Sure, Pete's the reason they got so famous so quickly, but I definitely think they would have reached the same amount of success without him too. It just would have taken longer.

S'okay xp whee

I can recognize the guys in Panic! too 3nodding And lots of people, actually. It's not like it's that hard xp domokun

Oh and this is random... but I was reading an old AP magazine about Panic!, Fall Out Boy and The Academy Is... and in it Brendon said that people couldn't tell Panic! and FOB apart (or thought they sounded similar) because he and Patrick sound so much alike.
I was like "um no you dont eek "

I hate it when people say that. They sound NOTHING alike. And fans like us know better than anyone, because we can say that from hearing both bands live and hearing their songs on their albums.

Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy are two completely different bands. I'm so sick of people thinking of Panic! At The Disco when they hear Fall Out Boy and vise-versa. It drives me crazy. Like, I really just don't see how they are alike.

I agree. Which is why I thought it was really weird for Brendon to say that...

Lol. rofl
Pete was saying Panic! was a bottle of Coke waiting to explode.
That made my day.

And the whole thing about Panic! and FOB sounding alike is weird.
Sure they both curse, have beautiful lyrics, and are an all guy band.
But besides that they are way different.
