A few small pieces of a broken building shifted as a strange, shell-backed creature dug through them. A white tail bristled down to its blue tip as the hunter growled and repeatedly hopped on a rat. The hunter, a lobfox, finally managed to kill the evasive little creature, which had been trying to escape by running into a pile of rubble. Unfortunately for the squeaker, Atlas was a master of pursuit.
The victorious blue-shelled lobfox tossed the rodent into the air repeatedly, catching it in his jaws again every time. After a few minutes, when he had had his fill of playing with the corpse, he sat it down and started tearing it apart so that he could eat piece by piece. In this city landscape, it was much harder to see things coming at him than it was at the beach. As a result, Atlas was on a constant lookout as he munched on his prey, bit by bit.

The small Serpopard child started to slowly inch her way back down the pile of rubble she was standing on. She'd thought maybe she could convince the odd creature down the hill to share some of the food, but now she was positive she didn't want to. Taking another slow step back, the rock her paw had settled on shook, then slid out from under her. With a cry of dismay Lev tumbled down the hill, landing with a thump.

Atlas whirled around at the sound of a sqeak, or something like one, and then a thud. His crimson eyes landed on a tiny Serpopard girl, almost blank white in appearance. He huffed and turned back to the rat as he judged that she would be no threat to him. The likelihood of parents being around were slim to none concidering her species. Still, a small part of his mind wanted to know why this child was here. Had she been spying on him for some reason? The lobfox did his best to ignore these thoughts and continued on munching on the little rat that was left. But, he found the half-eaten rodent carcass largely unapetizing now... Why did he never eat much?

Lev let out a small sigh of relief. The creature hadn't eaten her, as a mater of fact, he didn't seam very interested in her at all. Now she could slowly make her retreat. She was just starting to do so when her stomach grumbled loudly and her eye's strayed to what was left of the rat. Maybe if she hung around, she could eat what was left when the other Kimera was done. She didn't like the idea, but she was just hungry enough to try it. She scurried behind a rock and settled down to wait.

Atlas raised his head, faking a yawn as he attempted to look back at the child. He saw a flash of white in the corner of his eye, darting towards a rock. 'What does she want?' he thought, getting to his paws. For a moment, he was tempted to go and get the information out of the hatchling personally. But once he thought about it, he decided against such behavior. This was only a little, possibly empty-minded baby... After a bit of stretching, the lobfox wandered a bit away from the rat carcass and sat down. Now to see if she was following him...

Lev looked around the rock and scanned the aria were the other Kimera had been. She couldn't see him now, and, even though she new better, she darted out from behind the rock and toward the remains of the rat. She should have checked more carefully, but hunger made her careless.

After a moment, Atlas looked over his shoulder to find that all the baby had wanted was his food. He scoffed and settled down on his belly, not quite understanding why he hadn't left yet. He was finished with the rat, and the girl clearly wasn't trying to follow him... But he just stayed there, red eyes clinging to the small kimera from his obvious hiding place beside a pile of dusty grey bricks.

Lev scarfed down what remained of the rat, forcing herself to slow down so she wouldn't get sick. She was chewing away on the last scrap of meat, a little bit of it hanging out of the corner of her mouth, when she caught site of the strange fox creature staring at her from beside a pile of bricks. she stared dumbly for a minuet, not quit sure what to do.

Atlas quickly noticed that he had been spotted, and couldn't help but chuckle at the serpopard's seemingly dumbfounded stare. He got to his blue-dipped paws and slowly started to walk over to Lev, eyes still locked on her. As was his habit when approaching other kimera, the lobfox growled a little at first. Eventually, though, he spoke to her in a low mumble. "Hey." Quite frankly, he didn't care if she actually understood him or not. He was a bit curious of the little one, but probably wouldn't persue her if she decided to dart off.

Lev stared a minuet more, then snapped to attention. "uhh, uhh, hey" she squeaked "sorry, sorry, did you want the rest of the rat? sorry!" she fidgeted from foot to foot, wondering if the odd creature would attack.

Atlas was tempted to laugh at the little thing's nervous fidgeting. It seemed that Lev had at least a bit of fear for him... He liked that. "No. I was finished with that vermin... What are you doing here, child?" He sat down about three feet away from the Serpopard, his large 'whiskers' going in small circles at his sides.

"eating" she said, a deadpan expression on her face. "by the way..." she mumbled, her curiosity getting the best of her "what are you?"

Atlas scoffed. "Well, that's a rather blunt question, isn't it? Feh... I am what they call a lobfox. Just another kimera like any other." He paused for a moment, wondering if she was only confused because of his unusually spiked shell. Since the mutation was very minor, though, he thought that unlikely. He scratched his side with a paw and yawned boredly, awaiting another question or a comment from the serpopard girl.

Atlas' ears swiveled forward as his vulpine lips curled into a grin. "Of course you didn't. I don't mean it either when I say that it's plain awkward seeing a snake-kat thing like yourself." He stood up and started to walk in a loose circle around the little one, wondering how she would react. What an interesting little plaything she made...
(( .__. We need some sort of plot-ness here, don't we, Ammy? ))
