User ImageTope had ran off after a scuffle with one of his sisters-who had argued with him that Ardhi, his brother was useless and would never find a female. So-Tope, being the hard-headed brother that he was... was trying to figure out what he could do to help Ardhi.

So, there he was in all his brown glory, perched on a rock with his hind end in the air, his paws over his head and deep in thought. Tope, as he had grown with age-was gaining his fathers nice attribute. The fluffy but not fat look. He was getting thicker in size, he was going to look more like his father than he wanted. Ardhi, his brother was also gaining the thickness quickly.

Tope lifted his head and leaned it against the rock, his cheek pressed against the smooth surface. Uggh.
I'll sn'ow 'dose girwl's...He muttered, though his words were muffled due too his cheek being smushed. His tail twitched at the tip frustrated like.

Njiti wasn't wasting her time sitting around the den today; it was too perfect a day not to explore parts of the Pridelands she'd never seen before. Granted, as she got older and decidedly more mature there were fewer and fewer places in the Pridelands that she'd never seen before, but she knew she hadn't found all the good places yet. After all, if all of her siblings could venture in the Pridelands each day without anyone running into each other, the Pridelands had to be bigger than the full-grown adults said it was. Njiti could spend a lifetime here...and yet she knew the world was even BIGGER than the Pridelands!

As the green adolescent walked past a nice outcropping of rocks, she noticed something very wierd...a boy was on the rock sprawled out all wierd, with his paws over his head?

"Hiya!" she called. "If you and your friends are wanting to play hide-and-seek, there are places around here with better hiding spots."

Tope sighed and flexed his paws against the rocks surface-wondering and being frustrated at the same time. Those darn sisters knew nothing-andf it made Tope so very frustrated indeed. THey thought they knew everything about their brother-but they didn't. Tope knew-he had spent every waking moment with him... since they were born-they were inseperable-except now. Now-Tope was going to leave his brothers side in favor for his future mate...

And when Tope left-Ardhi would be alone... and tope would not stand for it at all. HE perked up when a voice rang out and he stared around in surprise-till his eyes fell on the green pridelander. He smiled...
Actually... I am by myself... I was just... looking stupid on a rock He said with a laugh. Truth was, hide and seek were games his sisters played-not himself personally. xD He Blinked his pink eyes at her. He hadn't seen a green lioness before-and it was a new thing for him. Are you a pridelander?

"Nothing wrong with what you were doing," Njiti said. She was just going to assume there was some sort of reason behind the hide-and-seek look and leave it at that. "When you're by yourself, who cares? I just happened to come by at the wrong time, I guess." At the question of her origin, the green lioness grinned as if hearing a joke. "Yep, I'm a Pridelander; My name is Njiti. Most people don't think of Pridelanders as green, but my parents joined the Pridelands and had a bunch of green cubs, so some of us are. Are you a pridelander?"

Tope smiled and laughed. Course he had been looking like a fool in front of a stranger... but he had to laugh at himself.. it was the only thing he could do to hide his embarrassment. He cleared his throat and he was in very interested in listening about pridelanders... but had to keep his thoughts on his brother. Thats true... since I tend to be by myself alot or I tend to be with my brother-ardhi...who really doesn't care about being silly He said, nodding his head and recalling the stupid stuff him and Ardhi had done in the past.

He shook his head slowly.
Nah... we just live over that way... in a bunch of trees. I think once my parents settle down to not living in the swamps.. they may join... but otherwise we are exiles... My parents, my two sisters and my brother and I He said, looking over his shoulder towards the slump of tree's that his family lazed around oh so often.

"Exiles?" Njiti asked, confused by the term. Sure, she'd heard of people leaving the pride voluntarily; after all, some of her siblings had done so in the past. But this exile word was strange to her...being forced to leave? But why? Still, rules of politeness to strangers dictated that she ask no further questions. It was his business, after all.

"Well, there's so many Pridelanders around that I'm sure everyone will just assume your family is a Pridelander family while you're here. The queen seems pretty open about letting new people join, from what I've heard and seen. Pretty much everyone here is either a child of former rogues, like me, or former rogues."

"So you just have two sisters and a brother?" Njiti asked. "I have...ten siblings. It's too hard to keep track of them all, especially since five of them were adults and on their own when I was born."

Tope balked at the ten siblings subject. HOMG ORLY? He blinked and laughed-for he thought it was funny he was overwelmed by his three siblings, technically four, and that he was in the presence of someone with ten! He chuckled, shaking his head. Actually I forgot I have an older sister who left on her naming quest before we were born-so she doesn't know we are not at the swamps anymore... I haven't met her so I only could the three he said, crossing his front paws and contemplating cleaning his paw pads but-changed his mind.

I don't know if my parents are going to join the pride-perhaps after they are done with us kids... otherwise they just laze around in the shadows-happy for the comfort of this land. He said with a gesture around them. Afterall, it was a beautiful place-and safe. He only hoped the Kusini Mwenzi, his future home-was this safe. He blinked over at her. I have two sisters, Chepe and Giza... and then my brother Ardhi... I prefer my brother more than my sisters-dunno why... but I do. he said with a cheesy smile... it was true-he loved his brother.

When me and my siblings were born-my father witnessed the birth and thats forbidden-so it was exilement or death-can you believe it? Me and my brother seem to have been affected by it more than my sisters... I guess thats why we are closer

"Exile or death?!" Njiti exclaimed, blinking her eyes a few times to be sure she'd heard right. "That's so wierd! My dad saw us being born, I think, and so do most dads who are in the Pridelands. Actually, around here, I think it's bad luck for the dad to not be around, 'cause that means he won't be..."

The green Pridelander pondered for a moment. "I'm not particularly close to any of my siblings, since we've all gone off on our own adventures since we were cubs. I did prefer my sisters over my brothers though; I guess it's just 'cause we're all girls." she said with a slight shrug. "I've never put much thought into it, though...that just takes away time I could be thinking about something more exciting. I keep finding new places to explore here, and things to see. My older brother Siltim won't tell me his hiding spots, though," Njiti explained, a goofy pout crossing her maw.

"Oh well...your parents picked a good place to laze around in the shadows. There's lots of little tree groves around here. O'course, you can't go too far to the north, or else you'll find the place where the trees suddenly turn into desert."

Tope blinked at her and nodded... It could have been both. At the swamp lands... fathers can't see the cubs until they are named.... and I am not sure when that is-but because my father stayed with my mother-and saw us be born... if we had stayed... My mother would have been exiled... my father murdered and us cubs... destroyed... for we are abominations in their eyes.

But before anything could have been done too us-my mom packed us up-all four of us... and headed out... and came here. Me and my brother seem to be the only ones really affected... I have anger issues and my brother... he has these episodes where he doesn't speak and moves around violently...
He said, looking at his paws and wondering if he was saying too much.

"How terrible...but, I suppose it is the swamplanders' choice on how to live their lives," Njiti sighed, noting that Tope was staring at his paws. It couldn't be easy, she realized, to admit to a stranger your flaws and weaknesses, as well as such a difficult time that he had apparently gone through to get to where he was now. "But I can tell you've turned out to be an honest and good lion, and it sounds like you have a mom who loves you an awful lot too, probably as much as you seem to love your brother. The swamplanders don't know what they're missing."

Tope glanced up at her and nodded. It wasn't very often that he admitted where he had come from and that... he was an exile. He had guessed that the reason for Ardhi's quietness was also because of that night-when they fled. He shook his head. Yes... THe swamplands have a very serious religion.. and they follow it.

I suppose... My brother has faired more than I have... I have everything to admire in my brother... that is certain. I am sure if we had been allowed to stay, we would have been very viable parts of the pride. Sadly, they do not get that privilege.
He said, gazing back up with a smile. He was certain that he and his family... would have been a vital chain in the lands... but... that was in the past now. My brother-Ardhi.... he is the one i Have always leaned on.

Having not been raised with any particular religion, Njiti was rather puzzled by this talk of exiling someone over it. She took a few moments to try to sort it all out in her head, before she said, "Well, let them live how they want. The good part about life is that you can wander to a new place if you don't like the place you're in. You look like you're around the same age as me, and if that's so, we're still young yet. We have plenty of time to find out where we'll be best suited. Me, I'm leaning towards staying in the Pridelands, but I don't know for sure yet. What are you and Ardhi planning on doing, once you get your manes and all?"

Tope gazed off into the distance and chuckledWell. I suppose I will be heading out with my-erm-my mate I suppose she is... She was born in the Kusini lands so... I figure she wants to go home and... the pridelands aren't really my peice of the sky... but ardhi.

I think he might stay... but I don't know. He has never really shown intrest in leaving so-he just may stay.
PostPosted: Wed Jan 16, 2008 7:07 pm

Njiti only vaguely knew about the Kusini lands, or really any lands other than her home, so she simply nodded and hoped that her ignorance wouldn't betray itself. "Well, I suppose in that case I'll be sure to meet your brother. The Pridelands may be big, but they aren't that big...so I've heard, at any rate. And in any case, I'll know friends in all kinds of other lands."

Tope smiled and nodded. Perhaps this little female was right... Ardhi could very well meet her. In fact-he felt a devious grin cross his facehe hoped they would. This little lady was nice enough. That way... when Tope left with jini... his brother would not be so lonely and would not be so sad. He stood up and shook himself off. He sat down then, his paws twitching ansty like..

He was excited-for she was nice and sweet and just what Ardhi needed in his life.

Well.. I should head back... my parents might start to worry when I am out for too long... And I've been out all day. I will most likely get a lecture...

But I am glad I met you Nijti. You have shown me how kind pridelanders can be
He said, standing up and heading off. I hope we see again someday
