 She had fallen asleep in a patch of warm sun, wings spread to absorb the light with their dark color. She had heard laughter earlier and the sound of other small hooves moving around her... But those sounds had faded as she'd drifted off; left alone to her quiet nap.

His siblings had wandered off somewhere else to play and he was left to his own devices. Huffing slightly he rested one set of wings on his head so they were easier to hold up. His parents seemed to be proud of them but he found the oversized fluffy things a nuisance. They were far too large for his body and only made getting anywhere a haste.
Huffing slightly he plopped himself down in the dirt with an audible whump and chewed on a feather.

The noise not far from her caused her to start, bright blue eyes wide as she glanced around. Her siblings were nowhere to be found... Nor were her parents. She was... Lost? Forgotten? No, never. They wouldn't have gone too far without her.
She pushed herself up onto her hooves, flexing her wings before folding them against her body one pair at a time. They sat comfortably against her sides, keeping her small body warm enough. At least the sun was still up... She hadn't slept too late.

He eventually spit the feather out once he'd gotten it back into place and it wasn't annoying him anymore. Tucking one set of wings carefully against him he glared at the other set. There just wasn't enough room for them!
Getting back to his feet he shook himself off and tried to shake the dust out of red feathers without making himself sneeze.

She could hear rustling nearby. Thinking it was one of the members of her family she picked up her pace, smiling brightly only to skid to a startled halt the moment the source of the sound came into view. "You're... Not my brother."

He blinked as he heard someone heading toward him and then a voice. Most defiantly not his sisters either. Tilting his odd colored eyes at her he let his wings almost hang next to his side.
"No ..... Brother, but not yours"

"No, not mine..." He definitely wasn't her brother. Although one set of his wings were bluish the others were stained red and black. His mane was blue but his body was dark... A distant relative, perhaps, but no brother of hers. "Whose brother are you?" She asked innocently enough.

"My sister and brother's brother." It made sense to him even if that probably wasn't the answer she was looking for. He had to have siblings to be a brother so why even ask who he was brother two? He hadn't heard about either if his siblings meeting anyone and he was pretty sure they would have told him if they'd met someone with wings like his.

"Oh..." She blinked, glancing down at her hooves. She should have expected an answer like that... Or maybe she shouldn't have as she'd never asked a question like that before.
"Yes, I do... Two brothers. How did you kn-- Oh." She followed his gaze, tilting her head towards her own wings. "Yes." She smiled softly. "I do... And so does Father... And one of my brothers."

"Yours arent .... so big." Hers seemed to fit her body better than his did. She could even tuck them up and he was lucky to get one set tucked away, trying to get the second was just impossible.

"No... Father's are bigger." She nodded slowly, not even bothering to think that her father's wings were larger because he was older an had far more time to grow than she had. He could even fly with his wings.
She glanced at his wings for a moment before looking up to his face, small head tilting slightly to the side as bright blue eyes softened. "... Why are you crying? Are you sad?"

He blinked and rubbed the side of his face against his shoulder. The 'tears' left a stain on his hide that he tried to rub off with his nose. "Not crying .... not sad."
He wasn't really happy since he'd just been complaining to himself about his wings but he wasn't sad either. "It just ... happens"

"Mother says that angels shouldn't cry." She nodded slowly as she took a step towards the colt, leaning in to make sure that he really wasn't crying. "Did you come here alone? Where's your family?"

"M'not an angel." At least he'd never thought of himself as one. He certainly didn't look the part. He was pretty sure he looked more like something out of a nightmare instead. "Family is playing..." He was sure his siblings were somewhere around since he hadn't wandered that far from them.

"Father says..." She paused for a moment, closing her eyes as she pondered the words as her sire had said them. "... That we have two wings because of the angels... And that we're to do good and keep other safe... That's what Father says."
