So, I'm currently working with Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0, and I'm looking for something a little.. better, I guess. So, for that and the sake of discussionnnn.......
I was wondering what different programs everybody used was! Some pros/cons for it. Approx. Price if you know it If you can, a screenshot of the program. What you've heard some good programs are.
: D ?

I use Photoshop 7 and more commonly, Open Canvas. I reserve Photoshop for mostly cropping things and making banners and what-not.
Open Canvas (OC) v1, in my opinion, is pretty good. It needs some time getting use to, but if you like to use MS paint, OC is a great program. Since I'm not much of an artist, I like using it because it's much simpler. Of course, some crazy-good artists make very beautiful artwork on OC v1. There are other versions that I haven't tried out yet. A down side is probably that it is primitive. There's the basic tools you need, but you can't do any flashy effects (at least I think you can't, I haven't really explored every inch yet...). The layering seems a bit funky at first, too. As I mentioned earlier, it takes a bit of time to get used to. Well, that applies to almost everything.

I actually use Adobe Photoshop for completely everything. Found no time to try out any other programs yet(but ms paint, but that does not count wink ).
Now after I set up my pc anew, I'm using the photoshop version CS2 instead of 7.0. (both are great, 7.0 is a tad faster than cs2, but in cs2 you can use more interesting custom brushes... )

I've been using Corel Painter 8 for a few years. It does a decent job. <3 The problem with this though is, it cost around $500 unless they went down on price. xD Comes with a drawing pad, the software, and a manual of course. I'm sure it can be bought online too though.

Well I just got cgillust, I haven't really used anything else. Though I can't really figure it out, it's supposed to be a really good program. And I have no idea about the rest of it. sweatdrop

As I mentioned earlier, it takes a bit of time to get used to. Well, that applies to almost everything. Hmmm... I think I should try Open Canvas sometime then. I always did love MSpaint... and my art style isn't very flashy anyway. As for me, I usually use Adobe Photoshop 7. It's a good program, not too hard to understand... but there's still some things that I don't know how to do on it... like geometric curvy lines. I tried using the pen tool but it was way too confusing. I guess I'm just not a digital person even though I rely so much on the computer to make my drawings symmetrical. neutral

Adobe Photoshop 7 for everything. I would try Open Canvas but I have a Mac. I would also try more updated versions of Adobe Photoshop but my laptop is a bit outdated and won't upgrade. :/

I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 for the most part. But I have been combining it with my pencil art as of recently. Is turning out nicely. ^_^

Adobe Photoshop CS3. Coral Painter frustrates me. Adobe Illustrator is also one I use a lot! But I'm weird and love the Pen tool!

I used to LOVE mspaint, and would just use that all the time, but as my art has gotten better, I've started to rely on OpenCanvas almost exclusively. I like it for several reasons, but there are a few things here and there that I liked better about mspaint.. such as teh curvy line tool... or the paint bucket... lol.
