[ You know the rules. Please do not post unless you have permission from either Kyaishi or me, PGM. ] She had left her two sons with two different herds, but they were with Soquili she trusted, so they would be fine. She currently was taking care of her daughter, teaching her what little bit she knew of the ways of the unicorn. Most of what Shimshek knew came from stories and Taiyaung himself, but she hadn't seen Taiyang in so long. Her heart ached when she thought of the sun-blessed stallion, but now she closed her heart. It opened only for the ones she loved dearly. Motherhood was something completely new, and she was, deep down, worried she was being overly harsh with her offspring. She glanced down at her daughter, who had an interesting blend of a personality. Khepri tended to have a smart-mouth, but at the same time was kind and fun-loving. Unlike her sons, Khepri didn't mind getting dirty--though she often complained about it--and only cared a lot if her horn so much as got a speck of dirt on it. "Khepri," she called, grabbing her daughter's attention quickly. One thing for sure, her children were quick to obey.
She was prancing around her mother, sometimes weaving away (though not far) and sometimes weaving back, trying to show off her knowledge that she had learned well. Her hooves, furcoat, and horn glistened proudly as she flashed them, a bright, sparkling smile adding to the sunny disposition. Her mother seemed to be heading in an intended direction, but she didn't know why. The short time she had spent with the two-legger that had another family--Hania, Shimshek had called the old stallion there--only gave her hints. This only told the little filly that her mother kept her past and history private, completely to herself, especially if there wasn't much known about her mother in general. The one thing that kept popping up was a name: Artemis Entreri. "Khepri," her mother's voice shook her out of her wandering mind, and she quickly responded by coming towards her mother. "Yes, Mama?"

It had been a long time since the fiery stallion had been out and about on his own, although he had been spending an abundance of time with his daughter Aquene. He wouldn't deny that he missed his mate and the daughter that took after him in looks, but he trusted that they were doing well on their own- Star Catcher was a wonderful mother, after all. Molten amber hues scanned the barren and rapidly browning landscape under the fall of autumn, and he started slightly as they fell upon an equally gold form standing some distance away from where he was. There was a smaller form prancing next to it, and... oh. He knew that form anywhere.
A grin brighter than one he'd worn in quite some time adorned his orange maw as he meandered up the hillside he saw them standing on, making it a point to pause as he came near. "Well, well," he chuckled softly, a warm-hearted gaze directed towards his adopted sister before settling upon the small filly that looked so much like her. "This is a surprise, Shim. When did I become an uncle?"

Just as she was about to ask Khepri what was on the menu today, a warm, familiar voice she had sorely missed trailed over to her, and she automatically blushed. Only two stallions could make her blush, now: first, her lover Taiyaung, and the second... she turned her gaze slowly until she met the same familiar amber eyes she had not seen in a long time. "Nanaki..." His name fell from her lips in a gasp as she stood frozen for a minute, and then a small smile slowly worked its way up on her face. She let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. "Uncle you became not too long ago, 'Naki!" She nudged Khepri forward, who had an expression that only spoke of her shock and awe all at once. "This is one of three of my children, 'Naki. Tell your uncle hello, Khepri."
Nudged forward by her mother, Khepri gaped at Nanaki for a moment and then back at Shimshek. "Huh? He doesn't look like you, Mama, is he really my uncle?" She blurted out, and then quickly shut her mouth and looked down, sullen. She was still surprised at the way her mother had relaxed so much, was even expressing herself, was more kind... warm. Shimshek had been an icicle... a semi-melted one, at least... ever since she and her brothers were born, and along comes this stallion and her ice melts completely away. She was in awe of this "Nanaki"... "Uncle 'Naki," she called and bowed her head. "Mama...?"
Shimshek smirked at Nanaki as she nodded a yes to Khepri's question. "We adopted each other, Khepri." She looked back up at her best friend/brother, and smiled. "I heard rumors that I became an aunt a while ago, but I was in the mountains at the time." She reviewed her entire adventure within her homeland, and shook her head. That had been a heavy blizzard. It was an event she didn't wish to remember, and yet... she remembered it clearly. She had spent so much time with Taiyaung... she slid her eyes back to Khepri, a living symbol of her love for the golden unicorn. Looking at her brother, Shimshek realized she had been extremely closed up... her children needed a loving mother, not a mare who dictated discipline... Maybe Nanaki could give her a few tips.
