So as you've all seen by now I have changed my name to Elder Artemis Simetra and wouldn't you know it? Some of my friends on here have asked me why. What a great opportunity to share the gospel with them!

A friend asked me, "So why did you change your name to Elder." I told her that I was preparing to serve a mission and that I wanted to get used to it now.

She then asked what a mission was. I told her that guys in our church from 19-25 can choose to spend 2 years of their lives teaching others the gospel of Jesus Christ and that we can be sent all over the world.

I've had a feeling that this particular person has been needing to hear the gospel for a while but I've never found the opportunity to talk to her about it. I'm so thankful that the spirit directed me to do something so simple as change my name so that I may bring up what I so fondly believe in.

Elder Garcia, that is awesome. By the way, how do you change your name?

But that is cool that you got a chance to share some of the gospel with her.

You're a stud! 3nodding

That's awesome! I wish I could be 'Elder", too, but... Yeah...
Why don't Sister Missionaries get cool new names, too?

You go to your preferences and at the top the word available will be highlighted. Click on that and where your name should be it will also tell you how many times you can change your name.

Sister is a cool name. Second only to Mother.

I have had a missionary moment! I was talking to a girl in my Drama class at school. I don't quite remember how the topic came up but she asked if I was Mormon. I happily replied yes, and then she asked me about what I believe in. Thanks to the articles of faith, I could tell her things like we don't believe in the trinity, but 3 different people. We talked for a few minutes until a gril got mad because she overheard us and she yelled how she hated religion and to shut up. But it still felt good to share the gospel!

That's awesome modest! Don't let others discourage you.

Update on my missionary moment!

It's been a couple days since I've talked to my friend on Gaia. I don't want to scare her so I'm waiting for her to take the initiative. I'm gonna pray and fast for her that she may feel the light of Christ and ask me more about the gospel.

Hey, I know it workd! My friend that I have previously mentioned has ASKED if she could come to church with me sometime she is that interested. I know if I can help that girl with a horrible backround (meaning her brother is a druggie and abusive parents) than I know you can help your girl Elder! Good luck to you!!

What worked? Praying and Fasting? Well... that wasn't really my advice to you, but if you read it and recieved the prompting to do it than good for you!

Sometimes people with the harshest backgrounds have the most humble spirits. When Jesus Christ visited the earth he didn't visit those who already had good lives. He visited the poor, and the blind, and the deaf, and all manner of people who had trials and afflictions in their lives that needed the gospel most.

I don't know if you want my advice or not, but if you do than I have a suggestion. Pray that the girl may find the spirit and that through the spirit she may come to know the gospel. At least with me, the girl that I have mentioned the gospel to may not recieve the knowledge by me. I may have helped give her gain some knowledge of the gospel but it most likely won't be through me that she recieves the fullness of the gospel. As long as she recieves it is what matters. Not by who it's from.

I'm super excited for you and I look forward to hear how this develops!

I had one. My friend, Sam, from the hospital, had never gone to church except for once when he was little and he fell asleep. He wanted to know what a mormon was and the conversation went from there. I was surprised by what little he knew about religion in general, but I didn't mind sharing. If it wasn't for Jay, the conversation would have been a lot nicer. But Sam and the others don't like talking bout Religion/Politcs/Sports/etc... around jay cuz he turns EVERYTHING into a spiteful argument. I'm hoping I can get another chance to speak to him bout it. Michel was listening in, too. I think she's muslim. They're all very open minded people, except Jay...

Oh, I actually had a missionary moment today. I have a friend who's been going through some tough times and doubts the existence of God, so today I wrote him a note bearing my testimony about God's existence and love for him, and told him he could talk to God any time he needed to for help.

i had a missionary moment too. i was in my crafts class and we were allowed to talk except when the teacher was showing us what to do so we talked about alot of stuff, they usually make fun of the little sounds i make. but my friend started asking about my religion cause she wanted to convert so i told her to the best of my ability, and then everyday i saw her she would have a different question for me, so one day i said i'm going to have something for you next class. so i went to my bishop and asked for a copy of the Book of Mormon and i wrote a little note inside of it and placed a pass along card in the cover and at the begining of next class i gave her the Book of Mormon. she took it and was really happy. she is going to a Catholic church right now but i know that i have touched her.

i had another missionary moment.

i was talking to my friend during a couple minute break we had during practice and somehow we got to talking about religion and i told her i wanted to go on a mission and she asked me what that was and so i told her and she asked me what i would do there so i told her and i told her the ages we go at and stuff like that and then we had to get back to working on the toss that i'm unable to do at this moment in time. (i never say can't cause you can if you work at it believe me cause if you ask me how many tosses i was unable to do or are still unable to do that would be all of them but now i can do most of them.)
