I think in the world of AP and LT we are over looking a few people, I will name two people who are underrated in the NFL. Being a man of knowledge I want to hear about the people who I won't see in the headlines. Please add who you feel is underrated.

Kevin Jones; He was explosive last year, and he can get in on the pass. He is a good runner and if it wasn't for a foot injury he wouldn't have had to even worry about a starting job. Yet no one I talk to knows about him, hell if I didn't have him on my Fantasy roster last year (Lost on the wavier this year) I wouldn't.

Leon Washington; When Curtis Martin retired he left some large shoes to be filled. Thomas Jones is a good back, and is the work horse of the team. Leon is, like Martin, a fast and agile back. He is very quick and great at breaking tackles. If you look at league leaders you will in fact see he leads the league in Yards per kick return. And yet every time I talk about football or the Jets, no one knows who he is? Is it just me?

Yes, Curtis Martin steadily and quietly made his way up towards the top of the stat books. He is probably one of the most underrated athletes of all time.

...But for current underrated running backs, I see:

- Brian Westbrook (in my opinion the best current RB, who can run/catch/block, and is always consistent), Clinton Portis, Jamal Lewis, Willis McGahee, Maurice Jones-Drew, Chester Taylor, Fred Taylor, Willie Parker, LenDale White, Brandon Jacobs, Justin Fargas, Warrick Dunn, Kevin Jones, Julius Jones, Ryan Grant, Ron Dayne, and Laurence Maroney.

Portis is softer then butter, Bets is a much better back. Hell their 3rd string is tougher.

Maroney doesn't strike me as underrated, he is right where he needs to be.

Portis is like the underrated Foster of the Panthers. Once they both get hot, they stay hot. Which is why it puzzles me that both teams don't sought out to run more often.

Also, Maroney is a bit underrated. Brady is having an incredible year, but their play calling almost always negates the run. Maroney should be the featured back, but when Morris took his place when Maroney was out with an injury, Bellicheck ran him quite a lot, and 100-yard games were present. Maroney has great potential, with strength and speed. He can break tackles. They should use him more often on screen passes, like they do with Faulk.

There are a couple of backs that strike me as underrated.

Ron Dayne, Texans. The man has come back from some poor years with the Giants and has taken over for the injured Ahman Green. He's doing a fantastic job, having a few 100-yd games since Green went down.

Ryan Grant, Packers. The Packers run game has been inconsistent this year, having 4 different backs start (Wynn, Jackson, Morency, and Grant). Grant finally seems to be the back to carry the load alongside a prolific passing attack.

My final underrated back:

Chester Taylor, Vikings. Everybody was on the hype of Adrian Peterson and after Taylor went down in the early weeks, AP became THE man in Minnesota. Now that Peterson's been hurt, Taylor's gotten another chance to prove his worth and is making the most of it: over 300 yds. rushing and 4 rushing TD's in 2 weeks.

But he hardly ever gets hot. The other backs are better all around. I live in Washington DC and I think is all hype, I mean the only game he did great that I remember is vs the Jets Run-D. And as a Jets fan I know is one of our weak links.

Portis hardly gets the ball at all, because the Redskins turn the ball over a lot, and are their offense is, more often than not, on the bench.

Foster was a beast 2 seasons ago, and is struggling because the Panthers, too, have a QB/turnover/offensive line problem.

If I'm not mistaken he get 30 carries a game. He is very overrated. They have so much talent that portis is holding down. What good rushing defense has he crushed?

Well, even this year, he crushed the Dolphins, Jets, and Eagles rushing defense. Yea, the Jets and Miami are pretty bad, but the Eagles have a very good rush defense.

...Anyways, Portis averages 4.1 yards a carry this season. That is very good, by means of a RB.

He isn't underrated. He is very good, and isn't overlooked too much. He is overlooked at a Bengals player, with Houshz, ocho cinco, and carson palmer. But not as a running back. I think from 2003-2006, he was 2nd or 3rd in the NFL in yards from scrimmage.

He is just not effective at getting the ball down the feild. Send in Betts and let portis get the ball now and then.

Along with Betts, their QB Cambell can run in certain situations, and is pretty efficient in yardage...although Cambell does seem to fumble often.
