If you really think about it, Sweeney went totally insane. Insane enough to kill people and put them into pies because the judge stole his child and he believes his wife to be dead.

Would you have done the same if that had happened to you?

Do you agree with what he did?

I don't think I would have done the same thing.

Mrs. Lovett, though...I'm not sure if I would've baked people into pies, but I might've been a little sympathetic and helpful even to a murderer if I really loved them... Plus there is the fact that she's a widow. She was probably in need of some company. And hard times can make people different. So I really don't know. It's more likely that I'd follow Lovett's path than Sweeney's.

i think sweeney was super upset and didn't really know what to do.

Now if I were Mrs Lovett, I would try to get Mr Todd to think otherwise. I would probally baby the poor thing.

And If I were in the situation as Sweeney todd I wouldn't go all Psycho in the head! I would probally just mourn for a while, and then save my daughter >_<

I'd like to think of myself as being sane enough (even after finding out that my family was taken away from me) not to start killing everyone in my path. Maybe just the judge. >>;

I don't think what he did was a particularly good choice, since, in the end, it led to his own destruction.

I understand his pain but he should have concentrated on getting his daughter out of the judge's clutches. Of course, him killing Beedle and the judge might have been the only option to get his daughter back. He thought he'd never see his daughter again so he had nothing else to live for but revenge. If he had stopped for just a moment Lucy might have lived and things might have turned out different but by that time he was too far gone.

It really all depends. If someone took away my life and family I probably would, not so sure about the meat pie thing though.

Yeah, I doubt that normal people would even think about the meat pie part. Most people probably aren't as "eminently practical and yet appropriate" as Mrs. Lovett, I suppose. XDD

Hm...
Well, I can understand why he would go and kill the judge, and I know that if I were in his place, I would have done it too.
Now, as for the others...
Maybe the judges little henchman-dude [don't know his name xD], and maybe Pireli.
But for ones who didn't know who I was, nor did anything wrong, I wouldn't kill them.

Why?
Because if I was in Sweeney's place, my mind would revolve around revenge, not "practicing on dishonorable throats."

EDIT::
Now, if I were in Mrs. Lovett's place.
XD
I'm with her on everything.
One thing I would have done differently, though, is completely deny that I knew Lucy was alive instead of go on saying "I never lied, never said she died".

If I was Mrs. Lovette, I would'nt have said that Lucy poisoned herself. I would have said she was still alive, even if I was madly in love with Sweeney. At least I could have remained his friend, instead of being pushed into the oven after Sweeney killed his wife without knowing it...

I would have probably done the same as Sweeney. Living in poverty can cause people to do very desperate things. If I had to choose between living in poverty and depopulating the city I loathe into pies, I think I would pull a Sweeney.

It's certainly enough to make someone who had the perfect life go insane.
He couldn't control it, that's how I saw it.

But if I was him, no. I wouldn't I'm more of a "let's move on now" kind of person.
I don't let things from the past bother me.

That is definitely today's quote of the day! xD

That's exactly how I feel. It was cruel of Mrs. Lovett to tell Sweeney that his wife poisoned herself and not say that she lived. She caused him more pain. If she really loved him, she would have told him in order to save him from unessesary suffering.

It's hard to say. After so many years being alone, I bet revenge is all I'd think about. I can't picture myself killing anyone, but in that situation, I can understand how pain can be turned into fury.
As for Mrs. Lovett, I think I'd lie at first, but eventually guilt would take over me and I'd tell him the truth.. despite the consequences. I can see why she did lie, though. I don't think knowing his wife was alive would have done him much good.. I mean, knowing she was still living, but a half-insane beggar woman might make it harder for him to move on.
