He tossed his mane, the ebony fading into ivory locks brushed against his knees as it was moved, long and a pain in his a** he thought with a snorting chuckle.
He was feeling a bit better, the ash colored unicorn's lavender eyes danced with happiness for once in a long while, after a good encounter with Yei he'd found a good band aid to his heart ache. He'd never stop loving the mother of his beautiful daughters, but he just knew that they'd never be like they had been.
His muscular form moved in the chilly weather with great ease, with a flick of his tail, he brushed aside some snow from the mountain's floor, it was colder up here, his coat thicker, more sleek, better built for the chill.
He liked it better.

Snorting, K'inali shook her head. With her thin coat, the cold was biting, and distinctly uncomfortable--however, she was just stubborn enough to be determined to stick it out, regardless. After all, that's why she was wandering around on her own to begin with. The second she'd hit what could be considered adulthood, she'd been insistent that she be able to make it on her own--she loved her family dearly, but had deemed it important that she prove her independence.
Ah, the hot-headedness of youth...however, in her case, that was paired with a solid stubborn streak that meant that once she set upon the path, she didn't waver, until she'd satisfied her own personal sense of accomplishment.
Stamping one of her fore-hooves, K'inali grimaced, shaking her head. Perhaps, come morning, she'd travel back down the mountain, to prove her independence someplace a little less...cold. Her coat was thickening with the changing of seasons, but was not yet long enough to make the snow-capped mountain's temperature tolerable, for any length of time. Thus distracted, she was paying no more than passing attention to her surroundings, and so hadn't yet noticed Benoni.

He would have heard her a mile away, with an arched brow he turned his head towards the snorting mare, who apparently didn't like the cold, he chuckled.
"You know, if you don't think about it so much..it doesn't bite that badly." He said turning around towards her, his tail flicked at the snow almost with distaste, his tail had always had a mind of its own.
With a crooked smile, he tilted his head, long forelock falling into his eyes as he loped towards her. He wasn't going to hurt her, he wasn't like that anymore, he'd aged well it seemed.
He liked the refreshing bite of the cold, but it wasn't for everyone. He actually really didnt know many that'd even attempt it. It was rather daring for her to try, specially someone as young as she was. It was rather admirable.

K'inali started, nearly slipping as she turned to stare at Benoni, struggling to collect herself. Tossing her head, she lifted her nose in the air. "It's not that bad." She retorted stubbornly, forcibly suppressing a shiver as he neared.
She hadn't expected to see anyone else this far up the mountain--food was far less plentiful, and most, like her, would have chosen to remain down where it was warmer. He didn't seem to mean her any harm, despite his unexpected presence, and so she allowed herself to examine him with interest. Tilting her head, the action causing her forelock to fall across one eye, she looked at him, curiosity overriding her irritation at being made to look so awkward. "What are you doing this far up the mountain, anyway?"

"No, its not that bad.." He chuckled, she was stubborn, it was simple to tell and it was again more refreshing to see among the younger of the land. So many were overly coddled as foals turning them into spineless whining twits..Benoni had no sympathy for the parents of said off-spring.
Plus, it gave the mare before him an edge. She had a mind, and a will and she was going to make her way through the world on her own accord.
"Finding my own in the world. Not many come up here, and those who do dont usually stay long enough to find the beauty in this frozen land.." His lavender eyes shifted over her slowly before looking towards the land around the pair.

Nodding thoughtfully, she eyed him approvingly. After all, she'd come up here for the very same reason--to set about finding her own way. However...beauty? She looked around, her expression slightly disbelieving, willing to consider the possibility. While she certainly didn't really find the whitened landscape all that beautiful herself, she supposed she could see why someone else might--there was something stark, and striking, about the harsh landscape.
"So you actually...have been living up here?" Her tone was curious, colored with, perhaps, the slightest sense of disbelief--was he immune to the cold or something?!

"Yes, I actually live up here.." Benoni chuckled at her a bit, with a shake of his head. He was a bit more heavy coated than most of the lower living soquili's so the coldness of the land didnt effect him quiet as much as it did others.
"Though, I didnt always live up here. I used to live down there..but things over time changed and I found myself up here. Happier." He looked around, the stark sterile look of the land, could be a bit off setting at first, but after a bit its beauty changed and shifted as the snow sparkled with the fading light of day, that was something to look forward to each day. Though, not many looked for it...

"Aren't you cold?" She furrowed her brows at him--he didn't look that fluffy...and if there was some trick to it, she wanted in on it! And if he wouldn't tell her..well, she'd figure it out on her own!
Thoughts suitably focused, any thoughts of leaving the mountain the following morning had been pushed aside--if this one could survive up here, surely she could as well. She didn't care if her reasoning was unsound, or whether anyone else might feel similarly in her shoes--she was impetuous, and often made important decisions on the fly...however, once she'd decided them, she would not be easily dissuaded. Particularly not with such a challenge, staring her directly in the face!
"And what changed to make you move up here?" Unapologetically forward, she tilted her head to the side and eyed him expectantly. "I mean, it's not like this seems like a popular destination, y'know?"

"At first I was, but your body adjusts to the coldness..Your coat grows accordingly. During the summer months when its not cold, and the snow melts away, I shed like a wolf." He shook his head, it was not an enjoyable thing, to shed, he had enough trouble with his mane, he didnt enjoy the hassle of his coat.
He blinked a few times at her next round of questions, he'd not been expecting that one at all. "My life took a turn on me that I didnt see coming..So I found myself here and well, it seemed to work for all parties with me being up here. Cant hurt anyone if your no where near them." His tail flicked up his rump, dusting away a light coating of snow that seemed to be falling around them. "What are you doing up here?" He questioned her now, an arched brow.

Like a wolf, hmm? The description prompted a rather comical mental image, but she brushed it aside, intrigued far more by the words that followed.
"Why would you be afraid of hurting someone?" He didn't have sharp teeth, or claws, so it seemed like a rather unreasonable worry, to her. She didn't even stop to consider that he might be referring to an emotional pain, or that he could probably do considerable damage even without claw or fang.
"Oh." She shrugged. "I decided it was time to figure things out, and to prove that I can do it--I don't want to always wonder if I could make it on my own, you know?" She wrinkled her nose--it sounded so much dumber, when you said it aloud.
