Nagual and Sanika climbed the slope together. Mostly Nagual climbed, as Sanika was on the mare's back. Over the past year, the two had gotten ever so much closer. Unfortunately, it had been awhile since Nagual had seen her good friend and mentor, Yei, and the mare wanted to go on a trek.
In their own special way, in their dreams the two had planned the trip. Sanika wanted to thank -in her own way- not only the mare but also the man that had helped her precious Nagual during her birthing. Not to mention, the woman wanted to know his story as well. She had traveled so long and far to get here, but still enjoyed learning from others.
Nagual knew how to get there, as she had rested and then lead her two young foals back down. In Sanika's posture, the mare knew she was getting cold -even wrapped in her jaguar skin- but she also knew that they were almost there....
...just a little bit further.... there!
Nagual whinnied in greeting, trying to get someone's attention, "Yei! Yei, are you heeeere?"

"Yei! Yei, are you heeere?"
Well, where else would she have been? It really was a rather peculiar question and it was only after a few moments of reflection that the mare suddenly became aware. Ah, it had been many months since she had received visitors and the voices were but mere whispers in her head. This wasn't a bad thing, she savoured the peace and quiet...the time she had to allow her relationship to blossom.
Ah, and blossomed it had!
It was with considerable effort that the mare pulled herself to her hooves and moved at a much slower pace than she was accustomed to. To say she was weighted down was an understatement - the weight upon her abdomen was such that many mares would find it hard to fathom. That being said, she was neither depressed or in pain - instead she carried herself in the most regal of fashions. Her head held high and her fiery coat seeming to gleam with a greater intensity she was every bit the expectant mother.
She was positively glowing.
Thus, it was with a little effort that she lugged herself to the top of the small hill and peered quizzically across to the voice. It certainly was one she hadn't heard in quite a while, yet it instilled her with a great deal of anticipation. Ah, the trials of living so far away from the lowlands, at least Nagual at chosen a good time to visit.
"I do hope that was a rhetorical quesiton?" Yei replied in evident good humour.

Nagual stepped forward to meet her friend. Sanika had jumped off the mare's back to search for the man she had learned about. Besides, she couldn't understand the chatting mares and wouldn't want to impede either.
"What do you mean," the mare snorted good-naturedly, "you aren't always here!"
Nagual took another step forward... and finally could see the swelling of Yei's stomach. The mare stared and shuddered, remembering the horror of her own fatness. How miserable she was and how she couldn't eat anything. She knew now that it meant she was pregnant, and was going to have babies.... and even though she had seen Viola's pregnancy and that it wasn't a bad thing.... Nagual was still unsure.
"Yei... you're..." the mare whispered sadly,"... you're fat! How... how did this happen?" Despite it all, she still didn't have a true understanding of where babies came from -except for out of baskets.

Yei wasn't entirely certain as to whether or not she should start laughing at the statement. To say that 'fat' was an understatement would be true but she hadn't really been concerned with her weight given there was an incredibly good reason for it in the first place! She hadn't just eaten herself into obesity - it was just a matter of carrying so many little ones that made her resemble a balloon.
"I'm pregnant Nagual," Yei replied with a mild smile. Luckily she wasn't particularly hormonal unless she was around Grencia - at which times she would whine for hours until he gave her whatever she craved for at the time. It wasn't his fault, but given that she felt so secure around the stallion and didn't feel bad for bursting into tears at the drop of a hat he got the majority of her grief.
...But that wasn't to say she wasn't delighted by her pregnancy. On the contrary, she was ridiculously excited and positively glowing with anticipation at the thought of her very own children flouncing around her home.
"That tends to make a mare a bit fat, I am carrying little ones inside me after all," she pointed out teasingly before shaking her head, "I don't have that big an appetite!"

Nagual nodded her head, "Fat means pregnant, then? Which means foals... Viola's gotten fat a couple times now... she's so little, I dunno how she deals with it all." The mare actually shivered once again - why was it that her own 'pregnancy' was such a horrible experience? Everyone else seems to like the fact that they ere big... and things weren't the same.
Nagual could definately tell that Yei was proud and excited, and the feeling couldn't help but affect the smaller mare. A small and careful smile erupted from her gray face, "Well... then.... I am happy for you. It seems you've been busy over this time!"
But the teasing was something she could take more. Tossing her head, her curls bounced about, "Oh come now, Yei! You never really had THAT big of an appetite. I'm usually the one eating all the time." Nagual stomped her hoof and posed playfully. The shock of Yei's pregnancy was wearing off, and all she could see was the spirit of her friend and mentor coming from the bloated red mare in front of her.

Busy didn't quite cover it, she had cornered her poor mate and demanded he stay by her side until she was with child. Or at least that was how it had been for a time. After giving up all hope, and simply savouring his company she had been blessed with foals - this wasn't before she had started acting completely ridiculous and had started to neglect him first. Somethign she was still guilty for but she was glad he accepted her apology and he had taken to the role of expectant father incredibly well.
"Busy..." She mused over this for a time before offering a small smile of her own, "In a number of ways yes, there has been much to think about and I am not simply referring to my own children." She confessed. Truth be told, she had been feeling a little nostalgic...all her 'little ones' had grown into adults and had their own families. While they came back to visit, they had all moved on and she had decided that perhaps she needed to do that too...
"Berries are hardly fattening," Switching topics she arched a brow and made her way towards Nagual at a slow lop, "But I must say I feel like I am eating for an entire herd right now!"
