"Alright now Usufii, these are the Pridelands, they're really great, but the gold-caots stole the throne, remember that," Noyana briefed her son as she padded into the Prideland borders. So familiar was the earth here... How she loved it. She had needed some mother-son time, whether Usufii liked it or not, though he didn't mind.
"And we're going to go see... my... grandma, right?" asked the bright yellow male padding alongside his mother. Around his family, Usu was happy, giddy even. If they weren't related (Or if they were one of these treacherous gold-coats) he would simply snub them off.
"Absolutely correct. I haven't even met her yet, I've always wanted to but never gotten the chance. If my nose is right, we're heading in the right direction." Noyana said. The two terribly bright lions padded confidently through the Pridelands, particularly Usu. He saw them as partly his own; he was a descendant of Taka, even if he didn't look like it. The little male was excited to be meeting such a powerful-sounding figure. He was convinced that even if she was in old age she would be enigmatic. The male could hardly wait.
Tiah’s heavy eyes matched her weight as she lay under a tree, keeping herself cool from with under its shade. She was pregnant again but had not told anyone yet, she feared her cub’s reaction… and her mates. She didn’t think this kind of thing could happen to her again. She was way too stressed to be a mother again. It was just killing her. And on top of everything her good for nothing son Tahka had left his son with her, again, for the third day in a row. It wasn’t like she didn’t love the boy… but, Tahka needed to be tending to his own cubs, not her. She couldn’t be his babysitter forever.
A deep sigh passed her chest as she gazed at Kadaj and smiled weakly. He was a strange one, just sitting away from her, not saying a word. Her lips curled as she spoke out to him.
“Kadaj, come to me so I can clean you.” He didn’t move. A soft frown crossed her muzzle as she sighed and looked away, spotting two blinding lions coming her way. She was slightly taken back by the color they bore
"Remember, be nice," Noyana said while they were still out of earshot.
"Of course mom," Usu said genuinely, looking up before turning his eyes to the redish lioness on the horizon. Noyana was the first to speak to Tiah.
"You don't know me, I'm sure. I think you know my sister, Mjrn? My name's Noyana, this is Usufii. He's Mat's son, I'm his mate. I really wish I could've met you before everything happened." Noyana said honestly with a deep bow. To her, Tiah was the queen of the Pridelands, and Noyana was simply a peasant. Usufii followed suit, to an extent. Partially because of his blood relation to Taka, the one who he saw as the rightful king of the past, and partially because he'd never bowed to anyone before.
Noyana continued "... but life happens so fast sometimes... I'm sorry to be so... sudden, I just wanted to meet you, and the same for the boy," Noyana said gesturing to her son, who was looking up at the lioness in awe. Somehow, he thought her the queen already, she seemed calm to him. She would certainly be a role model, if nothing else.
Usu glanced at Kadaj then back to Tiah, not spending much time on the cub. Once he got to know her, he'd get to know this strange cub with the equally red pelt.
At first she couldn’t say a word, her mind simply raced as she took in all the information the young lioness gave her. It was a pity that two beautiful lioness would fall to her sons spawning, in her eyes they could have done better… the females that is. Her sons had grow up to be nothing but trouble and she felt such guilt now, eyeing the female and her son He didn’t look like Mat... so apart of her felt better, at least this way he could act like he wasn’t related to his father. Her cold green eyes closed for a moment before she rolled onto her paws and stood up tall, her belly pushing outward with a slight bulge. “Mjrn’s sister.”
She repeated and sighed deeply. What a pity this was... “Child, why have you come here, really? To show me what has become of my son’s actions? Or am I going to have another cub dropped at my paws because the father can not tend to it properly? This one here is Mjrn’s son, the spawn of my son Tahka.” She spoke out with a soothing tone, showing he wasn’t trying to be rude. “I can not take care of all of my sons mistakes. I am sorry he fell upon you and I am sorry if you are hurt. I never meant for things to be the way they are, life has defeated me, gotten the better of me.” She paused and looked over at Kadaj, who was now frowning at her. “Noyana--”

"Tiah, you've got it all wrong, I think." She looked down at Usu, who was now fully intent on the other cub and not interested in adult matters at the moment. "I don't view the boys as a mistake, nor do I intend on dumping them on you, unless you wanted to spend some time with them, like a day or two. Mat's a good father, and a good mate. He's a bit rough around the edges, but he really does care for his family, both old and new," Noyana explained. "I sought you out because, well... family is family," she said with a smile, hoping to assure the older lioness of her genuine intentions. "I just thought you might like to meet your grandcub, the other is with Mat. The pair of them slept in this morning." she said with a smile as Usu sat in the dirt at the adults' paws, his emerald gaze turning from one adult to the other, then back to Kadaj. "I came to have my son meet his grandmother, vice versa, and to honestly get to know you, I know so little about you." This had been what she had done mostly as a juvenile... She had sought out Taka's descendants for little to no apparent reason, and she had sought to get to know them.
Mjrn... Noyana felt so far away from her siblings, she felt almost cubbish again at the mention of her sister's name. She was certain Mjrn and Tahka's relationship was different than her relationship with Mat. From Tiah's tone, little Kadaj and any littermates he'd had were an accident... Usufii and Valse had been brought into the world on purpose. Noyana had wanted them, Mat seemed to be fine with that... She loved them both dearly, and though Mat was a bit awkward with the boys, he still was a responsible father.
"Mjrn's son... May I, talk to him?" She asked, feeling a bit silly after asking. She was family to the cub too, as was Usu, they should both be able to go meet him, at least.
Tiah listened like anyone with respect would and with a soft nod sat herself down. Noy seemed well and Tiah was pleased by her words. She felt her heartache as she spoke about her son, Mat- Tiah had left him out to die at one point… she was a hard mother to her cubs… but inside it pained her to have to do such things. “Well, I am pleased to see that you are here for reasons that are pure in intuition.” She smiled some, though her smile seemed dark and wicked to a degree. Her fangs flashed some as she eyed Noy’s son. He was a spitting image of his mother, she liked that. “Mmm. It’s a pleasure to meet you little one.” She spoke out slowly as she lowered her view to the cub, before pulling back up to frown at Noy slightly. “You can try, he doesn’t talk much.” She warned and moved over, as if to let Noy closer to Kadaj. Kadaj didn’t look too happy about all of this.
Noyana smiled back to the adult as she left her son to do some... grandmother-son bonding. She padded over gently to the little one with a sour look on his face. She wasn't cautious, really, what harm could a cub do that she hadn't already felt? Usu liked to chew on her tail at inconvenient times, it seemed.
She sat in front of the young male. "I'm your aunt, Noyana, pleased to meet you. What's your name, nephew-of-mine?" she asked sweetly enough, though she really expected a sour response, or none at all.
"Nice to meet you too," Usu said, unsure of how to address the female. Grandma? Seemed odd for someone he'd never met before with a more genuine smile. In the back of his head he was paying close attention of how his apparent cousin treated his mother- he was highly protective of his closer family, and wouldn't have a hard time telling him off. He, however, managed to keep attentive on the older female. Despite her toothy grin, he had great respect for the lioness he'd only just met. Perhaps because she was related, perhaps because of the control she kept over her emotions, seeming calm no matter what.
"You like to hunt?" Noyana asked Kadaj before he could respond. She was an expert huntress, had been most of her life, and Noy enjoyed hunting; she would have been more than happy to pass on her skills to her nephew.
"She's already started to teach me," Usu whispered to Tiah behind a paw. "On little things, grasshoppers, mice, an occasional rabbit. She always says it's an essential skill, even if you're in a big pride." Personally, Usu wasn't that interested in hunting, but he put up with it. He supposed she was right, it'd be useful.
