Munching on fresh sweet bread as he worked away at his computer, Fiach idly wondered when his next appointment was. Adalia had handled the last few, and he wasn't entirely sure just when she'd scheduled the next one. It wasn't often his sister actually worked while he was gone so he had been thoroughly surprised to find everything neat and orderly when he'd come in this morning.

He had done a thorough check to ensure she hadn't broken or hacked anything, and pleased with the results, had ordered some sweet bread from a local restaurant. It was one of his favorite treats and was serving as a great "pick me up" first thing in the morning. Especially considering the past few nights.

Smiling as he picked up another piece of sweet bread, he wondered if today would be any better than the last few.

Bleary eyed, tired and almost sleep walking, Wique stretched his mouth in a wide yawn. he hadn't gotten any sleep at all the previous night while working on one project and then another and another. Sadly, a few days ago a few files of his had gotten corrupted and he was in need of assistance. Figuring that he didn't want to spend the next few weeks with no sleep redoing the entire thing, as he had surely spent a near 60 hours working on a single file, there was no doubt about it that he needed a little technical support. In fact, he wasn't even quite sure as to what this place he found himself standing in front of had to offer and how reliable it would be. It was certainly a risk.

Pausing in front of the door, blinking while looking up at the sign, he lifted a hand and massaged his forehead. It was difficult for him to admit that he had screwed up and this was his last resort. But managing to muster up enough resolution, he shyly pushed open the door and peered in. He knocked out of courtesy and then stepped inside, still very droopy eyed and seemingly about to collapse.

Wique, unsure of exactly what to do here, took a few steps toward the front desk as though waiting for something to happen. Gazing around, perplexed by his surroundings, it still hadn't hit him where he was exactly.

A piece of sweetbread still in his mouth as the customer knocked, Fiach blushed and hurriedly set it on the desk and out of the way. Standing up quickly as the person walked in, he tilted his head slightly in curiosity at the man's exhausted appearance. Casting his eyes around for a spare set of chairs, he moved forward to greet the man. Straightening his long sleeved black shirt as he went, ensuring the sleeves appropriately covered the scars on his wrists.

Blue eyes sparkled with concern as Fiach approached, lilting in his deep voice, "May I help you, sir?" He was slightly confused by the man's quiet entry, having become accustomed to the louder customers that had been showing up of late. Coupled with the man's appearance, and Fiach hoped nothing was terribly wrong.

Lifting a hand limply, he gestured a weak wave of it as a greeting. Not paying particular attention to the man at first, he moved slightly more forward before gradually halting and opening his mouth to speak as the man asked him the generic question one would be asked upon entering any type of store.

"I.. Uh." Wique paused in order to clear his cracking voice. "Need a little help.... You see... Some of my work files have been corrupted... And I was wondering..." Trailing off here, he assumed that the man would know exactly what he was wondering; could he help him? He yawned again, the dark circles around his eyes blatantly suggesting the poor condition he was currently in. He shook his head a bit, hoping that it would suffice to keep him awake a little longer though he seemed to be tilting to one side a wee bit too much.

Frowning at how the man appeared to be falling asleep on his feet, Fiach's concern showed clearly on his face. He rather hoped the man standing before him didn't suddenly pass out - he wouldn't know what to do if he did. Gesturing towards the chairs near the wall, Fiach politely inquired, "Would you like to sit down?"

Sighing slightly at the man's vague answer and unasked question, he tilted his head slightly in thought. Corrupted files could be a lot of things...but the loss of work files sounded annoyingly familiar as he recalled his meeting with Brad. The man had been very upset over the loss of some of his work files and they'd been eaten by his hacker Nigh. With this memory foremost in his thoughts, Fiach hoped the man before him wouldn't react similarly.

Fiach slowly asked, having been caught slightly off guard, "Have you tried running an anti-virus program?" Most of his customers had come to him knowing they dealt in Hackers primarily, not normal computer problems, but this man didn't seem to realize what the shop did...

Wique straightened up at the inquiry. "Ah, no. I'm alright." He said with a small bit of defiance left in him, fighting against the urge to curl up and fall asleep right there on their floors. Who knows when he'd wake up if he were to konk out in a chair, though he was very unaware of the strange situation he was putting the other man in.

"Uh... Yeah. I've tried several different things.. But it doesn't seem to be helping at all. It could just be the program I'm using, but that doesn't seem likely at this point..." He yawned again, very animatedly. Shifting his shoulders a bit, he tried to take a clearer look at the man that was hopefully going to help him, his left hand twitching in the process. Perhaps it was a waste of his time coming here... Maybe he should just try to redo all that work....? Thinking that over again, it wasn't a pleasant idea for him. But even so, he wasn't even quite sure any more as to what he was doing at this place. It was most probably his sleepiness and confusion that had brought around these turn of events.

Attempting not to let his slowly rising frustration show on his face, Fiach struggled to not frown once more. He had a feeling this was going to be a difficult customer, if for no other reason than the man didn't seem to care to explain any of what he was saying without prompting. Fiach felt largely inadequate for this job as he finally sighed, "This shop specializes in AI entities dubbed "Hackers". If you've run scans and found nothing on them, no hint of a hacker or trojan, then its a possibility that you have one of those AIs on your computer. The only way to check that; however, is to look at the computer itself to see if there's an egg anywhere." Pausing momentarily as he thought over some of the other customers, he added, "Or to wait for it to hatch. They...tend to make their appearance known quite soon after that."

Tilting his head slightly, he raised his shoulders in a shrug, "I wouldn't suppose you brought your computer in...?" He felt rather silly having to ask a question like that, but since the man before him didn't seem to fully understand he was in a computer store that dealt in AI, he wasn't really sure what the man had brought - or expected.

"Oh, I see. I see...." Said Wique rather vaguely, nodding. He continued to nod for a short while afterward until he finally snapped out of it. He stopped, looked at the man and then as if for the first time really knowing where he was, a jolt went down his spine, every fingertip and every toe.

"Oh! Well yes, of course. I have my computer with me..." And as he said this, he pulled his messenger bag from behind and lifted out a rather nicely sized convenient laptop. "It's a rather new computer, so I was confused when I was beginning to lose data and things stopped working. I was really quite confused. And now I remember where I read about this place something about hackers... Hackers... Yeah... Yeah. Anyway, here you go." He rambled on with renewed energy now, and quite awake as he stuffed his laptop into the man's arms. "Sorry for all the trouble, I tend to uh... Forget things after no sleep for a few days. Haha... Ha..." Laughing nervously and blushing a bit, it was obvious that he was embarrassed for his odd behavior. But it seemed that he would be stable for now as he bowed his head several times as an apology.

Raising an eyebrow at the man's odd behavior, Fiach almost smiled. He was slightly happy about the fact that he wasn't the only guy in the town who had weird reactions often. But he felt bad for thinking it, and hoped the near smile didn't show on his face.

Looking shocked as the laptop is stuffed into his arms, his eyebrow goes further towards his hairline before he finally composes himself. Setting the laptop down on a nearby desk, he flips the top open and presses the on button, waiting for it to load. As he does so, he tilts his head towards the man, "Was there any specific area that has been missing data, or any new icons you don't recognize that have appeared lately?"

Wique scratched his head. "Missing data... Missing data.... Ah! Yeah! My images keep disappearing!" He said as though epiphany had struck him. Such an oblivious man, he must come off as such a fool and it didn't seem to matter whether he was aware of it or not.

He scratched his head momentarily and frowned, he sighed but said nothing. His eyes seemed to be gazing off far some place in memory or thought, or perhaps just all together blank. And then in a twitch of a hand he seemed to return though it was never clear for how long he would remain in tact.
"So what are these hacker things exactly? I skimmed some thing about it briefly, but... All that is really fuzzy right now." He asked, and for the first time there was a curious tone in his voice.

Tilting his head slightly at the man, Fiach merely shrugs before prompting, "Where's the missing data located at?" It was slightly bothersome having to prompt the man for every little piece of data and made Fiach feel almost as if he were in the midst of an interrogation. A feeling that was less than pleasant and brought up memories he hoped to forget.

Frowning as he scratched his chin, he did his best to maintain a polite demeanor, but knew that his frustration was liable to show through eventually. Sighing, "Their AI units that inhabit your computer. They feed off data - and love to interact with humans. Its part of their learning process, I think." In all honesty, Fiach didn't entirely understand just why the AI units attached themselves to humans either. He suspected that many of them did so because they wanted to understand how to feel, and not just simulate the feelings, but had no way of knowing for sure. After all, the hackers were just pieces of data, though he vaguely wondered what might happen if one should ever find a way to have a body that actually felt, rather than simulated feelings.

Rubbing his temples lightly, he inquired, "Are there any other questions you have?"

Pausing before stepping over to where the man was seated, Wique moved the cursor clicking on folder after folder of his work and various other things. Surprisingly, all of his data was neatly named and organized which would almost completely contradict his appearance and living style. "Eh... Here, here and here." He said slowly, pointing at each of the open folders.

He scratched his chin, looking at the screen as the man explained to him about Hackers. "Oh okay." Responding in a rather bland way. And then it seemed he felt inclined to ask another question. "So.. If I have one of these hacker things on my computer.... Will I be able to retrieve my lost data?" His tone of voice remained indifferent and solid.

Sighing in mild frustration, Fiach watched as the man opened each folder. Eyes searching for clues of a Hacker, locating two that seemed to be dodging behind the folders. Raising his eyebrow, he lifted a finger and pointed where the two were hiding at.

"It...would appear that you have two hackers. One of which is a rather bright orange and a child, the other a more monochromatic scheme, and still an egg."

Shrugging slightly at the question of the man behind him, he nodded at the computer screen. "The only way to know for sure, is to ask them."

The little child hacker on the screen seemed rather cheerful at being found out. It rolled across the screen bouncing against the folders. Wique watched it in amazement.
"Uh... So will I be getting my stuff back...?" He asked awkwardly to the bobbing creature on the screen. A small bubble popped up: it wrote. Wique's eye twitched a little, irritably. Though his eye continued to twitch, he seemed to be rather calm about the entire situation. He began to nod slowly, surprisingly, and then scratched his forehead. What was he to do?
"Why's that?" He inquired.
The little hacker said, rubbing its digital tummy. And again, Wique still rather baffled in this fact merely nodded his head.
"Okay." He said, eye twitching away unpleasantly.

Chuckling a little at the child's antics, Fiach reached over to pat the man on the shoulder. Not feeling entirely awkward over it anymore, but still not entirely sure if that was an all right thing to do. Smiling at the hacker on the screen, he gave a small shrug, "More than likely...you will get your data back. Just create a new folder with 'yummy' files for the hacker to eat and offer a trade. The new folders for the old."

He thought that might work. If the hacker was at all gullible it most certainly would. Fiach felt bad for the poor man for having possibly just lost several files - he always did when a customer came in, and the hacker never returned them. Vaguely, Fiach wished there was a way he could ensure that all files eaten by hackers were fully retrievable. Making a mental note to himself to stop by Sionce's store later and inquire into that possibility.
