Things just never seemed to go as planned. One minute, Banda was nearly sure he was going to bring down the antelope. Claws and all, he had a spark in his eyes that just made him so sure! The next, everything went askew. Dust flew into the air; the twitchy antelope leaped to safety, and Banda was left angry and empty stomached. The silent mocking calls of his diner prancing away gave him a sick, warm feeling. Like food left in the sun to long. But how could the mighty hunter let his prey get to him? He had to stay sharp, alert, and hold together his stomach no matter how sickening the scene was.
”Just bad luck. By the looks of it, tomorrow hold even better hunting.” With a pleasant nod, the bundle of orange and purple lowered himself onto a patch of prickly grass. Lately Banda had just been distracted by anything, and this made hunting more difficult than ever. Of course, it was nothing a good days rest couldn’t fix. But with the sun glowing high in the sky, the warmth sinking into his fur Banda still couldn’t pull himself into a nap with the usual ease. A little bothersome thought just seemed to wake him up as his lids rolled down over his eyes. ‘How long would it be?’ He was a young lion, but no one lasted forever on their own. Of course, tomorrow was tomorrow. And whatever difficulties came with it were to be dealt with then. With uneasy tension filling the air, he finally managed to fall into a light, patch nap.

Lost, why was it so easy for him to find the secret treasure trove hidden just beyond the Pride Land's borders. He had lost all of his treasures to the Goddess of Greed, but all too willingly. In his maw he carried a tattered cloth wrapped gem, one stolen from a lion and the cloth from some strange area that reeked of blood and lots of strange objects littering the ground. This was one of them. The sun was high, beating down on his dark brown fur, his king cheetah markings doing little to help. He needed to find his way back to the Pride Lands.
Xanatos, Xana as short, prowled the area slowly, still out of breath from a good sprint. He had not expected that this two day trip to expand to almost five. With the gem securely in his maw, he could only breath heavily through his nose. Perhaps it was time to let out another chirp or two to get someone to come to him. It had worked twice before, why not a third? However, as he walked on, something bright caught his eye. With sharp eyes as his, almost nothing escaped his sight. Curious, the cheetah moved closer to it. As Xana approached, he noticed that it was a lion, male, but young. By the looks of things, he did not seem to be completely conscious.
Xana approached slowly and dropped the gem.
"Do you happen to know where the Pride Lands are?"

The voice was barely audible with Banda wound into his dreams, but he broke out of his light nap with ease.
”Hmm? Pride lands?” With a giant gaping yawn he suddenly began to realize how venerable he was lounging about as if chatting with an old friend. With powerful shove he managed to get himself upright, now eye to eye with this stranger.
”Sorry, my direction sense is as useless as my hunting skills.” Banda’s tail curled in amusement. There was no sense in making a conversation bleak and unpleasant. Odd now that he thought about, he couldn’t remember an unlikable discussion ever. As his eyes blinked, slowly adjusting to the shining sun the cloth bundle caught his eyes. He squinted his pearly lavender eyes and took a small step back.
”What’s that?”

Xana's paw clenched the gem more, hiding the brilliant green surface from this lion. He may be fast, but when it came to strength, this lion had him beat. When it came to the ability of force, he won there. Speed kept the slowest at bay.
"That is none of your concern, however, if you are able to tell me where the Pride Lands are, I might show you what I have."
His deep orange eyes glared at him, distrusting eyes. He trusted no one, but everyone had their uses. Xanatos' views of this lion was that he was able to give him the directions he wanted... if given a good incentive.
"Surely you know where the largest pride is located, the large rock formation in the middle. If you do not know where that is, perhaps my time talking to you would be a waste while I should seek out another to find my directions."

His paws shuffled backwards, his jaw clenched firmly as if he two was holding the masked mystery item. Banda had to show some respect for this stranger. He had, after all, held his ground firm even with Banda bothering him with silly questions. Of course he had no business knowing, but if the gods had pointed this visitor in his direction, Banda assumed he had something to say.
”Err, try going left?” He struck the word out blindly, hardly even knowing himself which way was left and which was right. Anyone with sense would have just followed the breeze such as Banda often did, but this fellow seemed more technical and forward.

Xana laughed as he hopped to the side awkwardly as he held something in his paws. He moved himself back into a strong sitting position as he scoffed. "Look where I am now, to my left was where I just came from. Do you say that if I went left, I will get to the Pride Lands?" Xana smirked and jumped again, took his position. "Here, I would only go the direction that was to my right when you just told me to go left. You must know more about the biggest pride around."
He looked out into the distance, but everything he could seen in a distance could easily be mistaken as a tree of some sort.
"Getting lost is not what I had in mind."

Banda’s head lowered in embarrassment, realizing his direction had been completely made up. But how had this stranger expected him to know? After all, he had been minding his own business until this visitor arrived.
”Personally, I just go in the direction I hear the most noise. More noise, more lions, more lions, bigger pride, bigger pride, this pride lands as you call it.” Banda gave a curt, confident nod. Wondering if this fellow would just tear apart this direction as he had the one before. He cocked his head to the side, realizing he didn’t know this strangers name, much less why he wanted to get to the pride lands.
”If you don’t mind me asking, why are you trying to get to these ‘Pride Lands’? Oh! And what’s you name? I simply can’t talk to someone if I don’t even know their name.” Banda grinned, wondering if he was making a fool of himself.

He scoffed and shrugged. "It's Xana if you must know."
He turned around and listened intently and all he could was this other male talking and the wind. There was no sound and the only sound was this male . . . Great, it seems like he found the Pride Lands according to this male. He gave another scoff and walked around for a moment to see if he could pick anything up.
"Not much help that did. The only voice I hear is ours. Our voice, a lion and a cheetah. Does that qualify as a pride?" It was rhetorical.
"Alright, alright, if I can this way and I was heading that way," he motioned his head in the directions he was going and came from. "Then where did you come from? If you came from the Pride Lands, you would have known thus the way you came isn't the right way. So either the way you were heading or the way I was is where the Pride Lands lay."

Banda let a dumbfound expression take over his muzzle and spread thought his face. He was not a GPS, and barely knew which was he had left Gurami napping.
"You've got the wrong lion." Banda confessed, shrugging.
"I've never even been to these pride lands, I was just guessing. Was I right?" His grin widened, wondering if he had really possibly lead this stranger the right way without realizing it. He had never strayed too far from his home as a cub, and it seemed to stick as he grew up. He learned the routes around him, and didn't bother with far off prides and lands. Besides, he knew of few and what good would that information do him?
"Xana..." He tried it out, a girlish giggle escaping his jaw.
"Sounds like a type of tree." Banda murdered, nodded and glancing off at a tree to his right, then gesturing to it with a paw.
"Maybe that's an Xana!"

He gave a loud snarl before swiping at him, purposely missing his face.
"Do not test me, lion. You may be stronger than I but you cannot hit what you cannot catch," he growled. His fur bristled as his sharp orange eyes glanced around the surroundings before settling himself down for a second. It seems like he found some sort of idiot or a wise guy, either one, he was of no use to him whatsoever.
"Well, go back the way you came from, lion, otherwise you will just get lost with your sense of direction and I just hope if I ever get lost again, I don't run into the likes of you. Otherwise, I'll just get even more lost out here!"
With another scoff, he raised to his feet and dashed off the way he was heading. He held confidence that where he was going was the right way, but he did second guess at times. But it was better running in a random direction and be there with that lion any longer.
No wonder why I hate lions...

A confused stare followed behind Xana as he dash off. Not even a good bye? Banda was appalled! But he didn't bother making a scene, obviously he had been angry, although it baffled Banda why. He watched as the figure of the cheetah finally disappeared out of sight before yelling out.
"Good luck finding the pride lands!" He gave a reassuring smile to himself and a curt nod. He seemed like trooper, Banda was sure he would find them. He turned slowly and began a brisk walk back to Gurami, wherever she was. He grinned as he spotted another antelope, leaping through the tall grass with ease.
"Maybe I'll get this one..." He murmured as he ducked out of sight and off to attempt another piece of prey.
