Has anyone read this?

Yep. Why? Didja have some questions about it?

Benn a while though, my strongest (but not singular) memory is my first encounter with acceptable literate profanity in school ^_^

I read that sophomore year. I thought it was ok and an interesting read, but honestly I don't see the big deal about it. The narrative voice is not that amazing to me, and that's supposed to be the big draw of the novel, so I suppose I don't really understand why it's so amazing.

I actually just read this a couple months ago.

I hated it. Holden was a little cretin the entire time throughout the book, he came off as look like an incestuous *****, he misspells 'damn', which irritates me a lot. I found it to be one of the most boring narratives that I've ever read. In all honestly, I don't understand why everyone likes it so much.

I read the book, and I hated it! I think my whole class hated it! My teacher said that there was going to be a movie if author played Holden!

I really enjoyed this book. It's one of the few that I've re-read. Holden's introsprection is amazing, and I think he shows that we're all human - even those of us who don't achieve anything. I think Holden is a great voice for his generation. And rich kid voices are rather rare in literature.

Maybe I was just at the perfect age when I read it, but reading the story really helped me feel like I could do better in the world - that I should try to live more up to my potential.

I Really enjoyed reading the Catcher in the Rye, the story and the portrayal of Holden and his view of life, I found it extremely well written and it immersed you in his life and in way makes him feel like an old friend who you can actually feel for.

Ive re-read this book so many times I've lost count, its not a huge story its short and simple, to the point and I find it always has the same affect no matter how many times I read it.
