its tradition at my club[first club-im home for the summer] that if your birthday was 'fortunate' to fall on a training day that you would have to do a "line up". 30-60sec[depending on the senseis feelings at the time] jegeiko with everyone. the shorter the time the harder the fights because they go harder because your opponent tries to make the most of the limited time they have with you.

and its my bday so tonight im wondering what my sensei has instore for me... sweatdrop

-also does any of your clubs do anything like that torture or challenge because its your bday?

One time, I got to spar with all the black belts present at the same time. It was only four of them but it was intense. My arms and legs were sore from blocking and attacking.

whats a jegeiko?

Here we are pretty nice, if your birthday falls on a friday then you jsut have to buy the first round of drinks after training

jegeiko is a fight/match. more for training/practise than an competing for points or anything like that. the longer the jegeiko the more time you can try things and learn what works for you and what doesn't[or what to work on].

interesting so far.
thats pretty cool for everyone to get drinks shouted for them^^

xd Nothing like that! We just routinely do push-ups according to age, occasionally doubling it if too small. The same goes for anniversaries and significant events.

Yup, in my last tkd club, if you were unfortunate enough to train on your bday, you had the honour of being in the middle of a round robin. Basically fight everybody in the class for one minute each, with no break between any of them

oic, so its kinda like sparring? But more of a sort of game?

Yeah its nice ^_^ especially in summer when its really hot, and the only reason you're training on a friday night in the sweltering heat is to get that lovely drink afterwards ^_^
