So, who among you was absolutely sickened by a Gaia plot element? Who else just found it absurd beyond all recourse? Who just cannot abide it? After a certain event, I just couldn't take it...So I made some alterations. As for what meaning this has, or where it fits in anywhere...It doesn't. Consider it artful venting.

The story of Gaia, all of the events, all of the mini-comics and Gaia movies are exactly the same, right up until page 9 of the manga entitled "Gun Show." This is where I pick up and my story begins.

STORY UPDATE:
Here the Von Helson's feign being overcome by lust, just as they had on page 8. As soon as his hopes of survival are at their height, they are dashed and he is brutally tortured and murdered.

Gino, waif that he seems, would be struggling with the news he was given as it was but having bore witness to the incredibly horrific death of Liam, his psyche was shattered. It would seem as though he is doomed to spend the rest of his days as the Renfield of the cast, his days consumed with madly scrubbing imaginary blood of off his skin, screaming at the walls and sitting in a drug induced stupor. The Masque may never be seen again.

Liam's store is bought out by Gambino, who uses the capital it brings in on various drugs, treatments, and therapy for Gino but they do little more than give him occasional fleeting moments of lucidity.

The plot continues as given until MMVII Part III, when Edmund and the nameless vampire each have their guns trained on Louie and Vladamir, respectively. Vladamir is shot first, but (as vampires are, under normal circumstances, unable to feel pain) manages to maintain his grip on Louie, thus allowing both to be shot and the two fall and disintegrate.

Without a request being made to carry on the Von Helson name and Louie no longer animate, the dialogue that follows does not occur. Moira takes the cure (Louis' brave little speech not convincing her otherwise) and returns to the living.

With the only publicly known vampire that had not displayed violence towards humans gone, there remains strong anti-vampire sentiment. Many places, were declared safe-zones where vampires and humans (as well as the other living denizens of Gaia) may interact peaceably though many murders, assassinations and less successful attacks follow for both sides.

Scarcely given the chance to prove themselves as anything else, vampires are largely considered to be evil and with the natural inclinations working towards it coupled with their unfortunate circumstances many became just that. Those that were not tended to remain in safe-zones or disguise their true nature. Without a strong leader to speak on their behalf the tension continues to mount and it appears a second great war may begin.

So then hating vampires became a sort of racism. Virulent hatred coupled with violent attacks.

Indeed. This result has nothing to do with my feelings on vampires, but my aversion to happy endings (and to needless random pretty-boy undead beings) kind of made this the natural conclusion to this point in the story. We'll just have to see what Gaia's next event is to see how this becomes adapted. I imagine the tension will more likely just slacken off and fade, somewhat, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

STORY UPDATE:
With Christmas approaching, a time of general peace fell over the populace, as something of an unofficial ceasefire was called in observance of the holidays.

Meanwhile, Gino showed little to no improvement. Gambino has since taken him into seclusion, where he hopes for the best. The nameless vampire and the Von Helson sisters have since gone underground (presumably figuratively) and (despite many-mostly dubious-reported sighing) they have remained at large.

Anyone could see that the frequency of the violent attacks prior to late December were growing worse and, if left unchecked, would continue in a downward spiral. Prominent personages from each town gathered, determined to use the time allotted to them by the holidays to its fullest.

In the interest of organization, Barton, Gambino, Durem, and Aeka each elected a representative. Those present realized that a military expert may be needed, in case the attempts at peace failed, and thus Leon was nominated as their representative. To avoid the effects of putting a child, a bleached-blond bimbo, or casino workers in a place of power, Ruby seemed one of the few who remained qualified to take the position of Gambino representative. For Aeka, the choice was not so easy, as the most prominent citizens were a dead man, robots (who were not programed for politics and completely unqualified), a bohemian real-estate sales-person, and a prepetually revealingly-dressed grease-monkey. Josie reluctantly took the position when she was looked to as having been in Aeka longer than any other ling candidate. In the case of Durem, Edmund seemed the obvious choice to all, for his age, sense of order, and wisdom and was not only elected unanimously for the position, but also was almost immediately recognized by all present as the unofficial leader and head of the proceedings, each time the council met.

They wrote up a peace treaty that was signed on Christmas Eve recognizing vampires as citizens and granting them the same rights as the living citizens.

Meanwhile, the number of orphans left by the attacks on both sides had grown. Orphanages were now struggling to accommodate the numbers of those whose parents had been slain by either side. The leaders decided that in celebration of the new peace and in recognition of the vampires who were now recognized as citizens, a new adoption program would begin where vampire and human alike would be given the option of taking care of orphans, temporarily, until a new, more permanent home was established for them.

All was still not well; many attributed the unusual absence of the bizarre Santa-Cow entity to vampiric violence, where as many vampires that had based their organizations upon hatred of the living and established ranks based on how much blood they drank were now opposed by laws, whereas they had been lauded as heroes among the undead in the past. Such clans tend to venerate and revere the vampire that shot Louie as well as the Von Helson sisters as heroes, if not saints or sometimes even deities.

The hate would indeed continue, most likely to some degree forever, but the first steps towards peace had been taken.

I am dissatisfied enough with the end of this event to get caught up with it, once again. I'm not doing this for any real purpose, save my own entertainment.
Story Update:
Things continued to steadily calm about the cities and the temporary governments disbanded. A series of games were held to celebrate the peace and good will that had been established. It seemed that the peace would be lasting... Until, of course, the next Halloween when pandemonium broke out once again.
Races that had been largely overlooked came to be widely known to the public very near to a time of dire predictions of horrors to come. Ian, being of ambiguous race and easy demeanor tried to make peace, rather than rush to one side or another. He was maimed horribly for his efforts and the violence that ensued was most horrific. Following that riot, auto-segregation soon took hold and barriers were erected around all-human, all-vampire, all-elf, and all-zombie settlements.
Halloween came and went. When none of the prophesied genocides came to pass, animosity once again faded once more to an uneasy peace, the prophesy discarded though deep scars remained. In addition, to the racial tensions, Jack, once a beloved holiday mascot, came to be seen as a dark and terrible entity, as it was his holiday that brought such pain and misery (despite the fact that he was not involved). Thought-form that he was, his appearance and general demeanor began to shift, thusly.
Rebuilding had scarcely found its feet when objects began to spontaneously animate, creating a fresh hell in a world that had yet to recover from the last. Rings were developed that allowed those brave enough to travel some measure of safety, or at least a means of defending themselves. Meanwhile, an investigation into the source of the spontaneous animations was launched.

Story Update:
The investigation into what came to be called The Animated was on-going. Settlements were sufficiently protected but the fields were no longer safe. Gambino's company developed a number of rings that were capable of combating the animated and they were distributed among those traveling for small fees. The money was funneled into treating Gino, who showed no signs of improvement. Meanwhile another fairly uneventful year passed, otherwise.
Shortly before Halloween, however, Jack appeared again to warn of another war was at hand. With the fear of him and his holiday now universalized, his power was now that of that of a god's. He had used some measure of it to free from their incarceration two demigods that were amassing followers to their cause. Far less consequentially, in an unrelated matter, famed announcer Bruce Hardcastle died.
When Halloween finally rolled around, Sentinel and Overseer, the two demigods, had fully come to power and nearly everyone had taken a side. For reasons known only to her, Sentinel decided to reanimate the corpse of Bruce Hardcastle to serve as her herald. Meanwhile, the shell that was Gino was possessed by Overseer but his presence was mistaken as another psychosis-fueled fit and he was restrained.
The deities drew on the efforts and devotion of their followers and after a long, bloody war, Sentinel won and her efforts were rewarded. Her aim of flooding the world with demons were realized and the Overseer was killed. Few of his followers were allowed to renounce their choice, some escaped murder and went underground, but most were slaughtered outright.
As for the heralds, Bruce Hardcastle continued serving as Sentinel's herald, who showed only minimal signs of decay, as he had been embalmed prior to the funeral and seemed to stop decaying as soon as Sentinel killed the Overseer and claimed his power (as many believed to have happened). Gino's already shattered mind was unable to sustain the stress of the death of the deity that he had unwittingly channeled and his body did not survive the ordeal.
Gambino mourned the loss of his son, along with much of the remaining population at the same time as the demons integrated themselves into society. The mortals who had served Sentinel during the war were considered protected. All others the demons could do as they liked with. This drove the Overseer's few remaining followers underground. Those who had not chosen a side but were still well-known and respected hired on additional protection or gave tribute (in the form of a tithe) to Sentinel, thereby buying their protection. Sentinel's demons were placed in shops that had since been vacated.
Gambino, by this point, had many enemies. The vampires resented him for his actions and publicly anti-vampire stance and rhetoric when they first appeared. The elves saw him as an obstacle to gaining his wealth. The demons hated him for refusing to cow down and pay tithes to Sentinel as everyone else had.
Naturally, he needed a large number of people who might protect him, was he to survive. Having an excess of the serum left and there being an unprecedented amount of available bodies, he naturally reanimated the fallen and put them to work, essentially creating an army that needed no sleep, no food, and no air, even. He put them to the task of protecting him, but this too had it's cost. The few people left alive who now had relatives serving him as mindless zombies came to resent him, along with the people who saw this extremely distasteful, along with the sentient non-vampiric undead (who had come to be called "zombies" despite being sentient) saw this as an affront to and a trivialization of all who shared their state.
When he was murdered not long after, it came as a surprise to few. The only question was who had done it and suicide was considered, having so recently lost a son. It took little searching to find a note from the same vampire sniper that had shot Ian so long ago. With that the most powerful family in the world had seen its end.

Louie may be a pretty-boy, but at least he does not sparkle.
