Xylia’s eyes narrowed as she focused on her latest prey. Her little butt wiggled in the air as she stalked closer to it. So far, it hadn’t seen her yet. That was good… she stopped as her prey suddenly stopped wiggling and she waited. Had it seen her? The little dragon held her breath until the… thing started to scrawl once more. Good… she was almost close enough. Just a few more discreet wiggles and she was finally within striking range. Fluttering her wings fearlessly, she launched herself onto her prey, squealing with delight.

“Xy!” Nall hissed annoyedly at his dragon as she tackled his hand. Well, his quill, actually… he sighed sadly at the huge blotch of ink that had appeared on his paper. Well, so much for that report… and he had almost been finished too. “Xy, why can’t you be more like Kalyan and Jelka?” Jelka, at least. Kalyan, as far as Nall knew, was still hiding underneath his chair. Jelka, Xylia’s daughter, was currently curled up next to Nall, quite content with just sleeping while her owner was busy writing. Clearly, it had been a mistake to bring all three dragons to the library.

Nall looked around, hoping that he hadn’t disturbed the air of studious concentration. For the most part, the people inhabiting the library were used to sudden noises. This was, after all, part of the Order. So long as no one set the books on fire, no one cared. The library looked pretty much like every other library that Nall had ever set foot in. Large, spacious, and filled with books. Also, slightly musty, with the scent of old books and ancient pages filling the rooms. And rather dark as well. Strange how it worked out like that… for now, the only sounds were the occasional cough to disturb the academic silence and the rare trill of a dragon.

The young mage looked down at the ruined report and sighed once more before twisting it up into a tight ball and tossing it lazily towards the waste basket nearby. It didn’t go in, but Nall didn’t notice since he was already working on a new paper. Unfortunately, the ruined report came back, carried by Xylia who apparently thought this was a delightful game of fetch. She didn’t stop until Nall got up and made sure the paper was thrown out. This revealed the other two dragons left behind in his chair.

Kalyan briefly peeked out from under the chair, wondering if they were getting ready to leave this place yet. He didn’t like it. It smelled funny. Also, it was not home. Maybe they were leaving and going back home? He watched his owner, inwardly hoping that they would go now. But, alas, Nall simply sat back down once more. Kalyan whiffled sadly and darted into Nall’s shirt to hide. Well, at least it was warm.

In sharp contrast to her companions, Jelka didn’t really care where they were. She lounged on the chair, and stretched out as it was evacuated by Nall. Once he returned, she easily returned to her curled-up position, however. It wasn’t that the Forest affinity was apathetic or anything. She simply didn’t mind. It was all good, as far as she was concerned. She trilled happily as Nall briefly scratched her head and purred in a distinctly cat-like way.

She was researching. Again.

This time, however, it was with a renewed vigor. Some very interesting magic had caught her attention thanks to the promise of a new dragon - thank you, daddy dearest - and she was most eager to find out more about it. Even if that meant snooping where she shouldn't snoop.

Vlasia did not stay long. It was with great caution that she entered the darker, more secluded parts of the library, a practiced air about her that demanded respect. She acted as if she knew exactly where she was, exactly what she was doing, and exactly how much trouble someone who wasn't allowed to do what she was doing would get into....thing is, she was a part of that crowd. Ah, but it was amazing how much people believed a lie if you pretended to believe it yourself.

...a little magic helped too. Those overlooking that section found themselves more confident in her, and in the 'fact' that they were overlooking everything just fine, whenever she entered.

Secure as it may have been, she entered and exited quickly. Discreet, always discreet. Under her arm were a few books and several pages of notes quickly jotted in script that would undoubtedly be difficult to decipher later. She walked briskly back to a slightly brighter, slightly less musty area of the library. As she did so, a rustle under her cloak slowed the girl's movements. Oh, right....

"Alright, you can come out now."

With a squee of delight, four little dragons popped out of the little pockets on the inside of her cloak. Stolz made a show of flying around her head, Nirvikara became jealous of Stolz and also took to the air to n** at the other dragon...Auralia and Mien'joh simply nuzzled the neck of their owner. Vlasia was glad that they had been quiet as she was going about her dirty work, so the noise now emitted from the little ones was acceptable. For a while.

....of course, they never really do what the owner wants them to, in the end.

Stolz stopped. Nirvikara stopped as well, because she was jealous of Stolz getting the attention by stopping. There was something...familiar, in the air. Something that Stolz had smelled before. Someone? A few someones....hmmmm. He shouldn't. And that's exactly why he did.

Screeching softly, the dragon bolted away, pumping his little wings as he sought out the source of the familiar smell. Nirvikara, the little Swamp dragon, twittered in irritation and followed. Vlasia's eyes flashed with irritation and, hardly surprised at what had just occurred, set off with a determined pace. They did this every. Single. Time.

Auralia and Mien'joh, the Dusk and Metal dragons, simply continued nuzzling.

Suddenly, the air was full of dragon chitters. Relatively full, anyway. Nall sighed, wondering what it was this time. With Xylia, it could be anything. The green dragon tended to get excited about the strangest things, from dust motes to other dragons to invisible nothings. The fact that even the calm Jelka was getting excited about this meant that it was something more, however. Probably some mice or something.

Nall sighed, and simply ignored it. So long as the dragons didn’t bother anyone else, it should be ok. He dipped the quill into some ink and started to write again in a loopy scrawl.

Xylia squealed and tried to get Nall’s attention, trying to tell him that an old friend was coming by. But, since the human continued to ignore her, she decided she would have to prepare by herself. Sitting on her haunches, she groomed herself quickly in a cat-like manner before slithering off of the chair and bounding towards the scent of Stolz. Her cheeps of delight quickly turned into a squawk of annoyance as Nall seized her and pulled her back.

“Xy! Please beha…” his words trailed off as he recognized the red and white dragon flapping through the air. Stolz? What was he doing here? Nall released Xylia, who groomed herself once more, chittering with annoyance. Huh. Apparently, they recognized each other. Nall had occasionally wondered about that, whether or not dragons would remember their mates. He dusted off his knees and stood back up once more, idly curious about this. That is, until he saw Vlasia. He blushed slightly and tried to dust himself off more. Unfortunately, since his hands were thoroughly covered with dust, this only made the dust on his clothes more even, which was hardly the effect he was going for.

“Umm… hi, Vlasia,” he said in his usual slightly sheepish way.

Once she was released, Xylia watched Stolz and chirped. If he came down, then they could play! It had been a while since she had a good wrestling partner.

As she advanced t'wards the flying duo, the sounds of other dragons filled her ears. Oh, boy....Stolz found a friend. Now, see, that was all fine and dandy until the owners of the friends he found turned out to be complete jerks. Vlasia really didn't like making any more enemies than she had to. Open enemies, anyway.

Aaand then she saw him.

Oh.....well, this one was alright.

As Stolz practically dive-bombed Xylia (Nirvikara coming behind at a close second), Vlasia gave a quick nod and a small smile to Nall. Huh, fancy finding him here. Though the two had professed a love for the Library, she had yet to see him there...until now. What a pleasant surprise.

"Hello, Nall. I didn't expect it to be Xylia Stolz was seeking out..." she said, glancing to the romping dragons before returning her crimson gaze to the boy. "What has you in here today? If you do not mind me asking, that is."

Well, on the bright side, he wasn’t covered with dirt this time. No, this time he just had some dust on his clothes and that wasn’t that bad, since it looked like Vlasia had been doing a bit of book-delving as well. And she had brought along her dragons, which meant that Nall wouldn’t be glared at every time a dragon made a noise. Vlasia would be glared at too! That was slightly better only because at least the glares would be divided between them.

“I was just… you know. Looking around for stuff…” he gestured back towards his dragons, trying to find the exact words. “I was trying to write a report, but I figured that so long as I’m here I might as well try to find out something about forest affinities. Jelka is a forest affinity too, just like her mother. And Kalyan is a leaf affinity.”

His eyes looked over Vlasia’s dragons carefully, idly wondering when and where she had gotten the grey one and the one with the spots. Very interesting… “New additions?” he guessed, although it wasn’t much of one. He already knew about Stolz and Nirvikara, after all.

Xylia happily snapped at Stolz and Nirvikara before sending a chirp back at Jelka, inviting her to join the play. She would have invited Kalyan too, but… well, he was boring. Always hiding, hiding, hiding.

The other forest affinity dragon yawned and stretched out in the chair, her wings neatly folded at her back. Unlike the other dragons, her wings were leathery rather than feathered, which was fine with her. She watched the play for a little while before launching herself off of the chair at Stolz, attempting to engage him in a little inflight wrestling.
