Breeze trudged through the light rain. She loved the way it felt as it ran down her skin. It was the end of a typical school day. People ignored her and she ignored them. She had no friends, and people thought she was weird mainly because she chose not to talk to anybody.
As Breeze walked into the foyer of her mansion her butler and caretaker James asked, “Good day ma’am. How was the first day of your sophomore year?”
She looked at him and shrugged, “Same as always, boring and pointless.”
“I do wish you would try to enjoy life. Why don’t you try to make friends?”
“James! Don’t you start with me! We’re not having this discussion again!” Breeze shouted in fury as she tried to block out the memories that flooded back to her.
The car accident that resulted in the death of her parents, then Amber… She shook her head as she fought back the memories.
James, seeing the distress he had caused Breeze, apologized, “Breeze, I’m sorry, but you really do need to move on and let your heart heal.”
“My heart is healed!” she shrieked, fighting to hold back the tears that threaten to spill over.
“No Breeze. Your heart never healed, it just turned cold.”
Breeze just turned away and dashed up the stairs to her room. When she reached her room, she just dropped her bag on the floor and flung herself on the bed. The pillow she pressed to her face absorbed all of her tears, leaving her face free of tearstains. As she laid on her bed wallowing in self-pity, the memories started coming back, but this time Breeze didn’t try to stop them.
She remembered how her five-year-old self struggled to accept her parents’ death, and then the terror of not knowing what would happen to her.
A new face flooded into her mind, the face of Amber, the face of her best friend. She felt the hurt now as she did then, the loss of her best friend barely more then a year after her parents’ death. The pain in her chest almost made her writher and cringe in agony. She felt as if salt was being rubbed into every wound her heart had.
She now tried to block out the pain, the memories. Slowly the pain subsided. She lay on her bed dead to the world so she didn’t hear James come in.
“Breeze,” he said softly while gently touching her shoulder.
Breeze jumped full of shock and surprise. “Oh, James!” she breathed a sigh of relief. “I didn’t hear you come in. You startled me.”
“My apologizes ma’am. I simply came up here to tell you that dinner is ready.”

As she walked to school the next morning, Breeze could feel something in the air. “Change,” she thought to herself. “Change is coming. But whether is for better of worse I do not know.” She continued on her way to school wondering what was going to change, when she heard someone shout her name.
“Breeze! Hey Breeze! Wait up will you?”
The guy’s voice almost surprised her. No one dared to talk to her. Ever. But she didn’t change her pace as she continued towards school.
“Man Breeze, you’re a hard person to catch up to,” the guy panted after he finally caught up to Breeze.
“What do you want?” she asked coldly. He had after all interrupted her train of thought.
“Awwww, come on Breeze. Don’t be like that.”
Breeze shot him the coldest look she could manage, but it was hard. She felt like she was losing her composer, which never happened to her before.
“Are you kidding me?? Don’t you remember me?” he asked with a slight bit of hurt and anxiousness in his voice.
This time Breeze paused. She turned to get her first real good look at him. What she saw was breathtaking. He was tall; he made Breeze’s 5’8” of height feel short. She judged him about 6’3”. He was also lanky, but not in the weak way, strong lean muscles made up his body. His dark hair almost touching his shoulders.
But his most amazing feature was his face. His tan skin was flawless, with a smooth, strong jaw line. His nose was perfect and his full lips hinted at a smile. His body and face was what any male model would kill for, but it was his eyes that made Breeze’s knees feel weak.
His eyes were the most beautiful shade of blue she had ever seen. They reflected a sense of deepness she had never seen before. The aura they emitted was powerful. She could barely stand told hold his gaze, but she couldn’t look away. His eyes drew her into them.
Breeze knew she hadn’t seen the boy before, she would have remembered his eyes.
“No, sorry. I don’t,” her voice barely above a whisper.
As she looked down toward the sidewalk, Breeze heard him sigh. She raised her head and was going to try to comfort him but, he was gone. Breeze stopped and looked around.
“We did he go?” she mused. “He couldn’t just vanish into thin air… could he?”
When Breeze reached the campus, she was still brooding over where he could have gone. She was hoping to see him in the halls or at lunch. Try as she might to forget him, his perfect face would not leave her mind.
She walked the familiar path home without paying attention to her surroundings, so shock gripped her when she stepped into the foyer and there he stood.
“What are you doing here?” she asked trying to hide her shock. She walked toward him so she was standing in the middle of the room just a few yards away from him.
He said nothing. He just took two strides toward her and touched her with two fingers, right above her heart.
Even though he barely touched her, she stumbled back a few steps as if a great force had hit her. Before she could fall to the ground, a beam of light caught her and lifted her off her feet. She could hear a jumble of notes. No specific tune, just a jumble of sweet notes. There was dazzling light so bright, she had to close her eyes. Her head felt like she was spinning but she couldn’t tell whether she really was or not.
Before she had the time to think about what was happening to her, it was over. She was on her knees in the middle of the foyer.
Alone.
Breeze didn’t get up; she just sat there. “Edward! His name is Edward! But how do I know that?!?” Breeze subconsciously thought.
“How do I know this?!?!” she cried out in frustration. Her voice echoed in the empty foyer and it bounced back into her head.
Breeze finally mustered up the strength to pick herself up off the foyer floor and started up the steps towards her room. As she passed by the mirror that hung in the hallway, she thought she saw something out of the corner of her eye.
She saw herself but at the same time, it wasn’t. The girl in the mirror was evil. The tips of her hair were ablaze with red. And her eyes burned so red with fury and hatred, Breeze almost forgot to breath. Her lips were blood red and shaped into a malicious grin. Breeze blinked and rubbed at her eyes then looked into the mirror again. But all she saw was herself. Her long black hair with blue tips was hanging in her face, her full-uncolored lips, and her cold gray eyes looking back at her confused, her silver eyeliner smeared. “How strange.” She murmured as she started down the hall again.
Breeze was glad her teachers had given her a lot of homework. She could immerse herself in it completely and forget about what had just happened.

The next day, before school started Breeze was looking everywhere trying to find Edward.
Just then, someone tapped on her shoulder, “Hey.”
Breeze spun around so fast she got dizzy. Edward was right there grinning at her with the cutest smile she had ever seen.
“How do I know you!?!” Breeze demanded.
Edward said nothing but continued to grin as he leaned in closer to Breeze. Before Breeze knew what was happening, Edward’s lips were touching hers. Without really knowing what she was doing, she locked her arms around his neck. Edward’s hands moved to Breeze’s face as he deepened the kiss. Breeze’s heart was pounding so hard in her chest she was sure Edward could feel her heartbeat. Her knees were so weak that if her arms weren’t around Edward’s neck she would have collapsed. Finally, after what seemed like a lifetime, they broke apart.
“How dare you!!!!” Breeze shrieked after she regained her composure. “I don’t even know you and you stole my first kiss!!!!!!! How could you????”
Her fists were clenched at her side to keep from hitting him.
He just looked at her and grinned. “Yes I stole your first kiss but not today. I stole it a long time ago,” Edward walked right past Breeze at the end of that statement. Breeze turned around to stop him because she wasn’t done giving him a piece of her mind, but Edward wasn’t there. Puzzled Breeze spun around looking for him but saw him nowhere.
“How do I know him??? These memories keep darting through my head but what do they mean???” Breeze screamed aloud.
Suddenly she collapsed on the ground clutching her head. Memories flooded back to her like a movie on fast play. She saw her and Edward together, how he loved her and she loved him, and how he completely left her, how he moved without telling her. The pain and torture she felt after, and how she locked away the memories of him and forgot him completely.
All the memories flashed through her mind. The feverish death of her best friend Amber, her parents death, Edward leaving her, how she turned her heart cold to avoid getting hurt again.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!” Breeze screamed out in ear-splitting agony. Hunched on the ground in the fetal position, rocking back and forth she literally felt her heart being torn in two.
Suddenly there was a great flash! Breeze was briefly lifted to her feet before she was hurdled back to the ground. Standing above her was the girl from the mirror.
“Hey Breeze, I’m Fury!” she said with a malicious sneer. “Thanks for freeing me.”
Fury darted off into a dark alleyway. Breeze was to weak and confused to try to follow her. So she just laid there on the ground confused and hurt. As she lay there, she felt herself being picked up and carried away. She opened her mouth to speak but no sound came out. “Put me down…” she thought but couldn’t say. Soon the darkness overtook her and she slept.

Breeze awoke a start. She just had the strangest dream. It involved Edward kissing her, and this girl named Fury coming out of her.
“How strange, I wonder what it means…” Breeze muttered to herself as she sat up.
“AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! What are you doing here???”
Sitting in the chair at the foot of her bed was Edward. At that moment, James flung open the door. “Breeze are you alright? I heard your scream.”
“What is he doing here?!?!” Breeze screamed with hysteria while pointing at Edward.
“Well this young man was kind enough to bring you home after you pasted out at school yesterday.”
“Yesterday… passed out… Edward brought me home? Ok I’m officially confused.”
At this point Edward cut in. “I think it would be best if I took care of this. Don’t you think so James?”
“Yes of course Sir,” James answered as he left the room.
Edward turned and looked at Breeze. “Will you let me explain at least?”
Breeze shot him a cross look. “Why should I?”
“Because I need to tell you the truth.”
Breeze let out an exaggerated sigh and rolled her eyes. “Well start talking.”
“Ok. I’ll start at the beginning. After Amber died when, were six, hatred and evil filled your heart. It threatened to overtake you. So the council sent me to you. But-“
“Wait what council? And how do they know about my past?”
“The council is the head of the guardians. The guardians, aka me, are suppose to keep the world safe by helping to reduce evil in the hearts of humans.”
“So you’re an angel?? Oookay... slightly freaked out now.”
Edward just chuckled and continued his story. “I was sent to you to help you get rid of the evil in your heart. To be your friend. Then the council saw how attached I was getting and they pulled me out.
“But that’s when the real danger started. Me leaving almost pushed you over the edge. The council was beyond themselves with worry. Luckily, for us you just blocked it all out. The treat had subsided for the time being and everyone breathed a little easier.
“Unfortunately the evil was slowly starting to take over your heart and soul. If that had happened, the world would have been in serious danger. Instead, it was decided that we should unlock your heart and separate the evil from your soul. That’s where Fury came from.”
Breeze just sat there staring at him in shock.
“Hey Breeze, there’s one more thing…”
At this point Breeze snapped. “What??? Am I suppose to destroy her or something???”
“Actually, yeah…”
“Oh perfect!! While I’m at it, would you like me to solve world hunger? Ooh! How bout I find a cure for cancer and on the side, I could end poverty?!? Huh? Would that be ok with you, you psycho??” Breeze was hysterical. She just couldn’t wrap her mind around what Edward was trying to tell her.
She, Breeze, was supposed to save humanity from evil. Evil created by her. AS IF!! Her goal in life was to remain blissfully invisible! She couldn’t save the world!
At that moment, she burst out laughing, “Your crazy! This is all a joke isn’t it. No wait, it’s to real to be a joke… That’s it I’m asleep aren’t I? This is all a dream! Now all I have to do is wake up.”
She laid back down closed her eyes, willed herself to wake up, and counted to ten. When she opened her eyes, he was gone. “Ha! It was a dream. A very strange dream but still a dream!” she shouted aloud.

As Breeze walked thru town, a week later, headed to the bookstore, she thought she saw something out of the corner of her eye. But when she turned her head, whatever-it-was, was gone.
“Hmmmm, oh well it was probably nothing important,” she thought to herself.
She turned her head back towards were she was going and stopped dead. There, right in front of her was Fury.
“No no no no no!!! It was all a bad dream! It was just a dream!” Breeze screamed out in frustration.
“Awwwwwww… Is poor little Breeze gonna runaway again?” Fury said in a mocking baby voice. The she busted out laughing. “You haven’t changed at all have you?” The smugness in her voice gave Breeze the urge to punch her in her face.
“Your wrong Fury,” Breeze said calmly. Then the fire in her voice increased. “I’m done running. I’m not afraid of you.”
Just then, another voice cut in. “That’s exactly what I wanted to hear. You ready to destroy her?”
Breeze spun around and there was Edward standing behind her left shoulder.
“What are you doing here?” Fury shrieked.
Edward just chuckled. “I’m here to help the women I love.”
Breeze stared at Edward in shock. She felt the blood rush to her face turning it bright, bright red.
“Awww how touching.” Fury cut in, “But if you don’t mind let’s get back to the matter at hand. Me destroying you!!” Fury’s eye’s burned even brighter with evil, and her hair burned more ferociously.
“Umm Edward. A little help here…” Breeze stammered as she started to back away. But when she stepped back she bumped into Edward who was still standing behind her.
She tilted her head up to look at him. “Help?” she asked in a small voice.
He looked down at her and briefly brush his lips against hers. “Of course I’ll help.”
“So what do I do?”
Edward handed her a sword.
“Where did you get this from?!?! You just pulled it out of thin air!!”
“Guardian, remember?”
“Oh, right. So what am I suppose to do with this?”
“You have to run it thru Fury’s heart.” Edward replied calmly.
“Meh do wha???” she asked completely freaked out. “I can’t do that!!”
“You can and you must.”
“But I can’t kill someone! Not even her.”
“You won’t be killing her, you’ll be releasing her.”
Fury decided that the conversation had gone on long enough.
“Let’s face it Edward, she can’t do it. She’s to scared. I bet that even when I kill you she wouldn’t have the guts to stop me or to avenge your death.”
With that Fury, ran up and pinned Edward to the wall by his neck. She was choking the life out of him.
“Breeze you can do it. I have faith in you...” Edward managed to say before he couldn’t say any more.
“Whatcha gonna do now Breeze? Watch me kill your precious Edward, and then just sit there while I take your life to?” Fury taunted.
Breeze gripped the sword tighter as something inside her clicked. She had to save Edward. Nothing else mattered.
Breeze lifted the sword up and aimed it at Fury. “Back off my BOYFRIEND!!!” she yelled in rage as she plunged the sword into Fury’s heart.
Fury let out a high-pitched scream as her body evaporated. All that was left was her black heart lying on a bed of red roses that were being stained black with her blood.
Breeze dropped the sword and rush over to Edward. “Edward! Are you alright?”
Edward said nothing; instead, he took her face in his hands and pulled her closer to him. He tilted his head up and their lips met. She parted her lips and he slipped his tongue in her mouth. He probed all the corners of her mouth. She deepened the kiss by adding more pressure and massaging his tongue with hers.
After what seemed like an eternity, they finally parted. Edward stood up and pulled Breeze up with him by the hand.
“Let’s go home now,” Edward said with a smile.
“But wait!!” Breeze said.
“What?” he asked with concern.
“I still need to go to the bookstore!” she exclaimed with aspiration.
