The pale moon glowed as it hung in the velvety, star-strewn sky, a soft breeze gently stirring the leaves in the trees that had been planted along the sidewalk. The light of the street lamps spilled onto the pavement and cement, shining onto a dark creature that ignored it as he trotted along. His sightless white eyes stared straight ahead as he swiftly trotted along, easily weaving around any obstacles that got in his way. He flicked his tail and turned a corner, his ears perked forward. All the rings on his body glowed a golden color under the light of the moon, though Ryou didn't notice at all. He knew it was night for a number of reasons, mainly the change in temperature, the crowds vanished, the silence, and most importantly, the feeling of invigoration the moon gave him. He stopped at the end of the sidewalk and took a deep breath through his nose, releasing it in a contented sigh.
Ears flicked in either direction and, satisfied that it was safe, the Umbreon crossed the street to the sidewalk on the other side. One ear flicked backwards as he trotted along and he slowly came to a halt in the middle of the sidewalk, a frown on his muzzle. Why did he feel so strange? He had snuck out of Kazuki's tent to go for a midnight walk and get some much-needed time by himself, he deserved it. Plus, could the trainer honestly expect him to stay with him every minute? Of course not! Well, he could, but that didn't mean the Umbreon would. But still, why did he feel so bad about leaving his trainer all alone? He could take care of himself. Hopefully.

Sitting on a curb, the Houndoom stares into the moon. It was still painful, her eye. A stitch had come loose recently, but she did not bother to tell her trainer. It would only be a large worry to her, one she did not need.
Flicking her tail and peering around with her remaining eye, she heaves a sigh of contentment. She was alone. Happily alone.
