Okay people. Here is where you post your freaking questions!!!! I have such a headache getting millions of questions from every member, the only ones allowed to ask me questions are my crew, and even then the questions better be worth my time. Post your questions here so one of the staff, or myself can better assist you with your problems, and we can reference your issues here. It'd be great for new guys who are having similar issues in the future. So please post your questions here before barraging me with millions upon millions of questions, I'd greatly appreciate it. smile

Is there an actual structure to magic? I may have missed it, while skimming through all of the magic stuff.
But, is there a price for all of the magic types, or just the few? It seems a little foolish to be able to use all the magic you can think of, without haveing your character pay a price for it.
By prices, I mean exhaustion, decay, sacrifice, suppression, etc.
Of course, the mechanics would be different for each art, right? I suppose one could assume that everyone knows where the ideas for each art came from. However, if a person doesn't, and things aren't stated, it could pose a problem, no?
Crap...I said I wouldn't ramble anymore tonight. >.<

Well thought my friend, I'll have my co-captains look into it.

A thought related to this. After reading every profile, I noticed some people have a rediculous amount of power at their whim (some of which arn't KoMs). Now I know I chose alot of abilities, but I tried to keep them all rather simplistic, nothing super powerful, but nothing to leave me at the mercy of others.

But seeing some who has a masters control over water, and a powerful hold over every other element. Then someone who pretty much body snatch someone unconscious, that's not as bad I'll admit, but the two of them kinda dwarf even me in power. I'm not saying I want to be the most powerful (I'm just a member of the guild, not a mod, I have no say in who is powerful and who isn't) I'm just saying I wanna feel equal.

Perhaps your correct. I am going to set some boundaries for the abilities people have.

Also some people I chose as what I like to call "pushers" within the role-play, and these people I deem with a bit more power to help push the plot-line forward. They either play pinnacle points in the plot, or die rather quickly.

While this doesn't act as much of a cure to the aforementioned power imbalance, I have a small idea that could add at least a bit more variety to the various RPs that are or will be floating about KoM.

I propose that every so often, certain members of the Mod crew make cameo appearances as some form of high-level enemy or obstacle that the other RPers are required to deal with in a realistic fashion before they can resume their normal story. This could be an effective tool in cases where, as previously stated, there are players with absurdly powerful characters mowing down every foe in their path. Ideally, the mod involved would take it upon him/herself to physically edit any proceeding posts that were too implausible or imbalanced to be fair, and the player would have no choice but to finish the encounter according to the result. (i.e. a character with an injured arm can't swing his sword, has to find alternate means to defeat enemy)

The ultimate goal, of course, is to temper some of the overzealous players and deter them from Dragonball Z-style antics. A bonus is that the appearances of mod-controlled enemies would be completely random and unexpected, the way villains should be. smile

I like this idea, and we should give it a test run, but it still doesn't really less steepen the severely powerful characters. Check out some of the character profiles. They'll make even some of my antagonist cringe to the very idea of facing them one day. We'll have to come up with something a bit better, but for now your idea will do.

I've already been talking with Lady M about that. Methinks we might have come up with a decent solution, at least for the short term. We'll tell you about it... if you ever get online. wink

It seems with their power, that some of the characters were expecting to kill normal level enemies just as easily as hoard level (and by the looks of it, they can). I also like the idea of "Random encounter: Boss fight."

Q1: Where do I post my character profile?
Q2: Where do I start? Or, more precisely, what should I do to get inserted into an ongoing roleplay?

A1 (not only a good steak sause): The Naroahan Subform, in there you'll find Another subform called Cast of Characters

A2 (not a steak sause at all): When that's all said and done, if the curren't RP in there (KoM: Ashes, or some rot like that) Isn't too busy, you send the laman's character sheet (prompted on the first page of said roleplay) to LadyMnemosyme, who'll have it all sorted out for you.

Edit:

On a completely unrelated note, I was thinking of something interesting last night.

Any Dedicated, literate roleplay can easily make a great character (We have plenty of them waiting in the wings) But a truly dedicated, literate roleplay can not only create a character, but create a character to fill a roleplaying Stereotype.

Here would be an example:

My character is 'the' peaceful, calm, and collected monk, who would rather bring peace, and understanding into the world. Want to use words to solve problems, and hates resorting to violence. But if the need arises, he'll beat your a** two ways to sunday.

No what if we were to include a "What Steriotype do you fill:" To the character sheets. I'm sure we'll have plenty of 'beautyful temptresses that use their wits to rob stupid men' and 'brave hero who has lost all, and has seldom to live for, but to destroy the things that ruined his life.' Etc etc.

It would add a new dimention to creating the character, as it's help narrow down the poistions people are trying to fill (this is not to say that complete creativity is bad, it'd just add a little more structure to the whole process). And this way, people could see what Steriotypes we don't need more of, and what ones we do, so the balance of powers becomes much more random and interesting.

But it should be. smile

The "fill a stereotype" idea is definitely a possibility that we can kick around. But it will have to wait until we're done restructuring and tidying up some things. Once we've established a little more organization, then we can consider setting up a "Stereotypes 4 Hire" thread... because every story needs some walking cliches, even if only for a good laugh.

Just remind us later on when we've got KoM back on track, and we'll see what we can do. wink
