She always seemed to make the biggest mistakes when she was angry. It was because she didn't think...and often that meant throwing all logic out the window. It always came back to bite her...protecting her pride that is. But it seemed of late that her ego was always under attack. It just wasn't fair. Even with the drawling life with her sisters things had been consistant. With Trigger everything changed within an instant. She hated it. How could she know how to move, how to act if everything was so unpredictable? She had told herself as she left that, as a highborn lady, she had no need to take such abuse!
But once she was away and the sky began to darken she realized that the world was cruel to her. Alone and cold she felt helpless and confused. She was never on her own, and after spending days without anyone in Trigger's absence she recalled that it wasn't something she wanted to repeat. The fact of the matter was she had no choice. Trigger held everything she needed. And it was obvious she would have to suffer a bit to get it.
The idea of sacrificing so much to get it all, however, ran her ragged. She shouldn't have to work so hard! It just wasn't fair! The small lioness broke down, laying on her belly and pressing her face against the dirt. A sob bubbled up on her chest and soon broke loose, sending her body on a wave of tremmers and tears.
After perhaps an hour of wallowing in self pitty the cold began to set in. Sniveling and whiping her tears away with one delicate paw she stumbled to her feet. She only had one option. She walked back to where she had left the male, hoping he hadn't ventured too far without her. She was so tired, so worn, but she had to catch up. She had no where else to turn.

"Jeez, it was not like you cared about the girl, Moto, she was just using you for her own purposes," the meerkat squirmed under the pressing paw upon him, his paws wrapping around two larger digits. The snarling male's vocal sound became deafening toward the smaller animal. How anyone such as himself bare such a noise was beyond him. He wiggled and squeaked, trying his best to escape the monster's grip.
Trigger had been angered that the meerkat had been so selfish to run off someone he had promised to. He was a male of his word, for the most part, to get her to a safe place was what exactly he was going to do. Being there was his own accord. This place Ahali had spoken about was perhaps the best place for the duo, he himself as a high ranking member and she herself for a safe, stable lifestyle. Both will be happy and all of this will have blown over. But to have himself erupt like that, attacking the female he was trying to please, and then have her leave him after calming him. He didn't understand... none of it really. He had thought if he made her happy, she would be more opened with him. If she was more opened, she would not be grumpy and be more to talk. Walking with a happy, talking female was better than a grumpy one. Trigger's paw pressed harder on the creature as he growl grew louder, a stream of rants ensued.
"She was only using you for cubs! She said so herself unless you have forgotten!"
"Don't you dare bring that stupid, ******** topic up, she only said so because she naturally wants to be high up in this damned pride," he snarled.
The two continued to argue, Trigger more so as Fukuaji could only try to defend himself.

Mwana could hear the commotion long before she could see it. When it became clear she was very near she whinced. She had had enough fighting for the day. She needed to go back...she hated being alone. But she was too tired, too shaken to walk right into another confrontation. So, once she could smell them she settled down on her belly. It wasn't really a solution. She only felt more sick when she caught bits and pieces of what they were fighting over. But she stayed where she was, shivering. At least she knew they hadn't gone too far...at least she wasn't far behind.

The arguing continued until Trigger's emerald eyes flicked out and saw a glimpse of her before turning back to Fuku. When the it had settled that it was Mwana that he just say, he gave a scoff before easing up on the meerkat. Fuku coughed as he raised off before he was met with a paw again, swatting him away.
'Alone', the Firekin moved his way to the female, a slight agitated scowl on his face. His dark black mane fell over his face before he shook it out of his views. His eyes locked on the female as he approached. With bold movements, he licked her forehead before laying himself before her.
"..." he relaxed before looking away from her. "What do you want to do now?..."

Mwana didn't say anything right away. She didn't look at him either. She was leaded with so many heavy emotions and it was all she could do not to cry again. But no. She would not cry in front of him...even if she had no dignity left to shred with the tears. "I just...want to sleep," she murmured honestly. She sounded so tired, so defeated and had it been lighter her eyes would have looked red. But all that could really be noted in the darkness was her shivers from the cold and her obvious lack of agression or the will of confrontation.

Trigger nodded silently and gestured over his shoulder. He had no intention of wasting too much time, he wanted to get Mwana there and talk to Ahali and Afu, she being tired and he not left a good option. Though, she may not.
"Climb on, I'll carry you for a while until I get tired. I do not plan to rest for a while," he watched her carefully, waiting for a reply. He was big enough for her to have enough room to curl on... awkwardly. He was strong enough to carry her for a long time before his stamina diminished and he had to rest. "I attend to keep my promise."

"Of course. That's all you care about," she murmured, not so much an accusation but more of a knowing statement. She exhaled and then slowly stood on her dirt littered paws, her tail left resting against the ground by her foot. She made no protest to his plan. She shouldn't have been surprised by the suggestion; he was never able to understand anything even if it was obvious.

"That be truthful, but that is not everything that I care about," he spoke, watching her move. His green eyes remained on her bluish grey form, one he had seen nearly everyday now. He would never understand why she was the way she was, princess or not, she was a rogue just as he is now that she is without her pride. Though he still sees himself of Firekin blood, being away from the pride makes him no more rogue than she.
"You think I only care about getting you to this place with Ahali and your... sister, but that isn't entirely the reason why. Do you think I would have just taken you for absolutely no reason? At first it was just because you reminded me of myself being a slave, but you think hunting for you everyday was because it was out of habit? Then you have a thing or two coming," he lectured before gesturing to his back. "Hurry up and get on, lets not keep them waiting."

"You keep saying that," she murmured, her bangs fallen over her eyes, "and yet you keep trying to get rid of me." Her tone still wasn't like it normally was; accusing and self indulgent. It was just flat like a cold fish. She was simply saying what she saw. She didn't want to fight, so she let out another breath and shut up. It didn't matter anymore. Awkwardly she got onto his back, taking a moment to get her balance before settling down in a rather uncomfortable, but stable, position.

Trigger carefully got up and started off at a slower pace. Though it was a slow pace, at least they were getting somewhere. He looked up ahead to see that the meerkat had already started to walk without them, keep his own pace that he wasn't too close to the two. Out of the three of them, it seemed, Fuku knew what went on the most between them all.
"I do repeat myself, don't I?" his tone a little more lighter. "I do want to drop you off somewhere, that is what I promised. But it is because of what happened only moments ago I also want to get rid of you, Mwana. You do recall me saying I cared about you right?"
His voice fell to a silence as he continued to walk a little before talking again.
"I do care about you, Mwana, and I do not wish to harm you. Being near my almost guarantees that you will be hurt. If not by anyone, but by me at the very least. I cannot control myself when I am angered, you've seen me like that..." he sighed. "It is better off that you are at this place with Ahali than beside me. Unless you are wanting that risk of being hurt again," he turned his head slightly so she could see his smirk.

"You're a typical male," she sighed, feeling her body sway with his movements as he walked. Her head lay curled against her paws near her chest, eyes gazing at nothing in particular. "You think that bodily harm is the worse thing one can suffer from," she mumbled, another shudder running through her from the night air, "I believe differently."

"I have experienced two sorts, both at a young age. You know little of me, Mwana and here you say you want to bare my cubs?" he scoffed. "Never before had I met such a female who came to me without a proper offering or sort of bargain. But you? You outright... well, it was a bold gesture,"
Moto continued to walk, the night was still young and he was nowhere near tired. His blood still pumped from the recent outburst, his anger lingered but it was more focused on the rodent before him. Only a few knew of the tactics to calm such a savage beast and Fuku had shared such a secret to this female. A slight smirk crossed his maw as he shook his head.
Mwana indeed licked him.
Perhaps he should be cruel and poke at her while she was still awake.
"So, what did it feel like licking me knowing full well I could have killed you right then?" his voice slightly mocking, but full of curiosity.

"Hmph, you speak of it like it's a business. It's no such thing. Besides," she let her eyes shut briefly before they were jerked open again by the unsteady perch she was on, "It's normal for a female to want cubs." She slide her hind legs closer to her already tightly curled body in an attempt to stay balanced. As far as his second question went, she did not rise to the bait. She had no energy for such things. And he wouldn't understand how she had hated it. How he wouldn't listen to anything she said but a cheap trick could settle him. No, he never understood anything so she had given up trying to explain most of it.

"Business... that was what Ashkikatazwa said when he had invited in into that crazy place. While he sought a place to call his own while he searched for his son. I sought a place to hide away from the Firekin. A night turned into a cycle and that cycle became twelve fold. I didn't quite expect things to turn out that way but the offerings and bargains they brought were more than enough to satisfy me, but the purpose of it all... was what kept me," he sighed as he walked. This was one of the things he did not talk to Fuku about, at least not in depth. It was something he did not really want to share with many, even threatened Ashki to shut his mouth about it. Hopefully, telling Mwana will get her to see what he has gone through. Perhaps this journey could... pull them together of sorts to get them to know one another better.
"You're right, females do seek cubs. They seek out the strongest individual with the best genes they could find. Is that not the purpose of males fighting one another to mate with a female? To prove to her and the other that one is stronger? But for this place, the Demon's Den, they came to us because we were there, it was more for the purpose of rogues than anyone. However, we got visits from lowly prides who had no strong male to give them good cubs. Don't get me wrong, it is only natural for a pride leader to want strong cubs. Perhaps I am looking at this the wrong way..." he turned his head back at her. "... are you sleeping?"

"No, I'm not sleeping," she replied. How could she sleep? It wasn't like this was a smooth ride. And it hadn't solved her problem of being cold, so there was no rest for the tired lioness. His ramblings weren't helping either. What was he going on about? "What are you trying to tell me? That you sold yourself to give cubs to females? So what?" her voice was a low drawl and perhaps anti-climatic. What did he want from her? An angry explosion? What did she care that he did those things? All they told her was that he was very capable of making children and that he had no reason to complain.
