Eshaa looked at Nahuel, who was, for the moment, behaving himself. She'd already chased the child around the entirety of the apartment eight or nine times and he was finally tired enough to consent to crashing on the couch and allowing her to apply some much-needed band-aids to his knees. The babysitter would be here soon (she hoped), and she really didn't have time for any more antics from the little boy. She and Wystan and the rest of their team had an important meeting with some Durem Museum staffers in half an hour.
"I'm gonna be gone for a while," she explained to the little boy, who nodded sleepily. "Teagan is going to stay with you. You remember Teagan, from halloween?"
"Tea!" exclaimed Nahuel happily, barring his teeth in a feline grin.
"Right," nodded Eshaa, glancing towards the door. She had to get going soon, after all. This was a very important meeting...

Teagan was frustrated with the traffic, and when he finally pilled up at the apartment Eshaa had given him he had to stop for a minute to calm himself down. Finally he turned off the van and grabbed his jacket, jogging up the stairs as quickly as he could. With a sigh he knocked on the door a few times, putting on a smile to show that everything was okay.

Nahuel, meanwhile, had affixed himself to his mother's leg and had no real intention of ever letting go. Eshaa sort of hobbled to the door and opened it.
"Hi, Teagan, thanks for-"
She didn't finish the statement because Nahuel gave a feral cry and leapt from his mother's leg to Teagan's and resumed his super-glue hold.
"Tea!" he said happily.
"Will you and wild-boy here be okay?" asked Eshaa.

"Yeah, we should be fine," Teagan said with a bit of effort, straight-leg limping his way into the apartment. "Has he eaten anything?" he asked curiously, "I was thinking about maybe getting some chinese take-out." He ruffed Nahuel's hair with a grin, though he knew that this job was going to be a little more tough than he liked to pretend. After all, who better than an ADHD kid to know what they were like?

"We had hot dogs for lunch a few hours ago," answered Eshaa, "but he might be hungry again in a bit." She nibbled her lip, trying to think of anything else that Teagan might need to know. "I left emergency numbers and my cell number on the counter, but don't call unless there's fire, broken bones, vomit, or gushing blood involved. Bandages and disinfectant are in the top drawer in the bathroom, and I left you some money for food on the counter. I'll pay you when I get back."
She was sure she was forgetting something.
"Oh, Nahuel's lactose intolerant, I'm pretty sure, so keep him out of the dairy products."
Was that it? Why yes, she believed it was.
Nahuel was busy investigating the keys he had found in Teagan's pocket.
"I'm gonna head out," Eshaa nodded. "You boys have fun."
She left. Nahuel grinned up at Teagan.
He was gonna have fun.

Teagan nodded in understanding of her instructions, only half noticing when the boy stole his keys. After locking the door behind her he leaned against the frame, giving him an amused look. "You can use those when you get bigger little guy," he told him, "But I don't think you could even touch the pedals yet." This was going to be fun, probably.

Nahuel dropped the keys and looked up at the older boy with wide yellow eyes as big as pirate doubloons. "Pedals?" he asked, and, picking the keys up again, added, "For car?"
Mom had keys like these, didn't she? She put them in the car and it went vroom vroom and then they went fun places.
"Vroooooom!"

"Yeah, big vroom," he agreed, tossing Nahuel into the air. He caught him on his arm, turning him around to balance on his shoulders. "Now how about we find something to get into, it's not every day your mom's going to be away. What do you want to do?" he asked, grinning childishly, "Jump on the bed?"

Nahuel latched his grubby little fingers into Teagan's hair and looked around eagerly. It was cool from this high up! Hmmm, what did he want to do that mom didn't let him do? He looked around the living room eagerly.
"Climb!" he exlaimed, pointing towards the bookshelf. Mom never let him climb on that.
Probably because it was not a very good idea. But that didn't concern the jaguar child.

Teagan tapped his foot, making a guess at whether or not the shelf would be able to hold his weight. He'd done things like that when he was a kid. Of course he'd also knocked one over on himself. But Nahuel weighed less than he had, so for sure he'd be alright. "Go ahead, I'll stay down here and hold it steady," he told him, moving in front of the bookshelf.

"Yeah!" cheered Nauel, and latched his hands onto one of the shelves. Tail bobbing, he launched himself up it at dizzying speed, legs and arms scrambling for holds. The shelf wobbled, but didn't tip. Nahuel reached the top and perched there, panting like an olympic athelete.
He gave Teagan a toothy and self satisfied grin. "Next?" he asked, tilting his head to one side.
Hmm, this was odd, he thought, surveying the room. Now that he was up, how would he get down? He could jump, couldn't he?
Nahuel leapt from the top of the bookcase with a feral shout.

Uh oh, the neighbors would probably hear him hit the ground, Tea decided, quickly snatching the cushions off the couch. He threw them around the floor, hoping the kid would land on at least one. After all, that's how Mora had kept him from splitting his head open all those years. "Nice one kid," he shouted, "Tuck and roll!"

Nahuel had at least some semblance of feline instinct, it would seem. While he landed on the cushions in an odd sort of roll that put him on his side, he quickly corrected into a crouch before hopping to his feet and sticking out his arms.
"Taaa-daaa!" he announced, immensely proud of himself. Now what on earth could Mom have against that?

Teagan clapped as he landed safely, letting go of the bookshelf. "Alright little dude, got that out of your sister now?" he laughed, remembering how it used to feel when he did something he knew he wasn't allowed to.

Nahuel nodded and continued to grin. "Next?" he asked, wondering if Teagan had anything else planned. He already liked the older boy - after all, who ever let him climb the shelf, let alone jump off it? Not Wystan, and certainly not Mom. Nope, Tea was cooler than both of them!
"Blocks?" asked Nahuel, pointing to a basket in the corner. He had a set of wooden architectural building blocks his mother's boss had sent when he had... exploded out of his leaf. They were fun to build with, but more fun to knock down. He took the boy by the pant leg and pulled him towards it.
"Build!" he ordered, pulling a column and a wedge out before diving back in for more pieces.
