(Feel free to join, WHENEVER)
“Why does it have to be so slippery?” Sahra sighed, looking up upon the world from a much shorter point-of-view than she was used to. But why? She had fallen flat on her behind! And it didn’t help that the cargo pants she was wearing were thin as paper—cold, cold! She rubbed her gloved hand against her side, feeling afraid to stand again. The odd contraptions on her feet intimidated her even more; who could really skate on one blade, anyways? It seemed overrated. Until a girl skated by all fast-like, twirling around in a few circles ever-so gracefully. She grumbled bitterly. It couldn’t be so hard, could it?
Ephrem, despite his partners constant falling, was actually having fun. He didn’t need to put on skates; all he had to do was slip and slide around the ice (hoping not to run into anyone). It was a good thing this ice rink was extra, extra large, or else he’d probably have sent someone to the hospital by now by colliding into them. Oh well—what were a few broken bones? Good character builder! “Slippery is fun! Come on Srra, stop falling!” He grinned deviously, sliding around her a semi-circle (strange thing, eh?), taunting her.
“It’s not as easy as it looks...” Not to mention her rear end and the spots on her arms and legs that had been burned by acid a while back now ached. The fur was taking its grand old time in growing back, and for some reason her skin kept either getting irritated to high hell from being so exposed, or it’d dry out, or something else along those lines. She sighed again. “But you wouldn’t stop mocking me if I gave up.” Which was exactly why she had to keep trying.

A rather shrimpy teenage boy-err, creature was standing at the edge of the rink, staring in towards the ice with all four eyes wide and uncertain. His stomach was flip-flopping. The timid scorpion lad had never been on ice before, and watching the people fall and knock eachother into the sides for the last ten minutes was rather intimidating. Sure, there were tons of people twirling around gracefully and all of that, but.. He was a bit of a pessimist, persay. But he had to give this a try. It was major step in his 'new life'.. He swallowed heavily and moved one shaky skate onto the ice, followed by another. His claws and a few of his extra legs remained clutching tightly to the side.
Sure, Nero had really good balance, but he had never tested it in a situation such as this before. Ever. It's easy to have good balance when your feet are flat on the ground. Atleast he had dressed appropriate for the cold- for once. Not that he could feel it very much through his thick skin. The boy was clad in a rather baggy faux black jersey, way too big for his slight frame, and hung so loosely it revealed both of his shoulders. Luckily he was wearing a form-fitting, long sleeved white shirt underneath to keep the cold from penetrating, as well as a semi-snug pair of jeans-- the only real problem would probably be the gaping tears in the legs of his jeans. Over his head was pulled a black beanie, his pointed ears and tussled hair poking out from beneath the edges.. And then at his neck was that black collar and tags, which D-Corp had permanently placed around his neck.
He had managed to make it atleast one foot away from the door when he spotted a dragon and his heart lurched. UH-OH! This place had definitely become rather frightening- he still bore a rather obvious nervousness towards dragons... But then he eyed a familiar form settled on the ice. All four of his eyes lit up- Aha! He slowly began to shuffle his way across the ice, extra arms rigid with their attempt to keep his balance. "H-hey!" He called to Sahra, and after awhile his strides grew more confident... Albeit his strong tail was heavily being used to keep him upright. "Y-you o-okay?" He offered an uncertain half-smile, his smaller set of eyes nervously set on the girl's dragon.

Sin was working, she had to meet a strict deadline and as usual she had left most to the last minute, so as Flint had proved himself a spectacular failure in the reals of child care Tempest had been left to babysitting, something that her or her temporary charge the small mole boy had been particularly happy about, esspicaly since they had started off on a bad foot when Tempest tried to fit Taren into some suitable winter clothing, a feat that none but his adoptive parent had yet manged to do and the poor girl had started to realize the amount of skill such a thing required as Taren liked clothes no more now than he ever had. She been determined to get him in full winter outfit, large coat, hat, gloves scarf and thick pants, the whole nine yards. What he'd ended up with were baggy pants of soft cotton, fur lined little boats. and a large but luckily very thick jumper over 100% cotton t-shirt. And he had stolen Tempet's scarf since he decided he liked it better than his own, and that was also far to big for him and had to be wrapped round several times and over his head yet still hung down at the back to his knees.
The 'fun' winter activity the dragon hound girl had chosen had also so far turned out to be bad choose, and they hadn't even got on the ice yet. Taren was very wobbly on his skates and hadn't said anything but frown lines of displeasure had appeared beneath his hair line, it wasn't improved by watching everyone slip around and fall over. No this didn't seem like a good idea to him at all. Till he spotted the dragon there. That meant other D-corp kids. Now it seemed like a terribly idea. "I want to go home." Taren pleaded in a piteous voice turning his eyes towards Tempest, magnified by the glasses you could see the liquefied quality of half formed tears in the dark hues.
"Just try it Taren you might like it.." She prompted. She didn't like the idea of admitting defeat to Sin at all. "Just get on the ice. Come on, I'll stay by you.Look it's easy." she stepped out of the ice infront of him, quickly gaining her balance with the help of white wings and spinning round to face him, skating backwards as she watched him then forward to meet him. Taren who seemed somewhat impressed and reassured by the display and had forgotten about the others for a minute took a first shaky steps onto the ice, clinging to the side. Tempest caught him gently and pulled him forward, he was shaking but since his tempary guardian was taking most of his weight he didn't fall and even started to smile as they edged forward.

How had she ever get dragged into this? Alora thought, silently watching Yourie lace up her skates, tying them firmly to her feet. The teenager had proclaimed something about her needing to get out and probably get more exercise. Mereneth hadn't been dragged here; she had figured that the pyro would probably cause mayhem at the ice, and the dove half-envied her brother.
Still. It looked like it could be fun. It could probably help her with her balance and such, seeing that she was debating about future ballet lessons with Emi.
Yourie skated onto the ice with much grace, holding her gloved hands out to Alora. "Come on, sport, it'll be fine!" She encouraged, and the dove made a hesitant step onto the ice. She was docked in full winter regalia, from the fur hat, to the fur-lined dress, all in matching hues of light blue and white.
After a while, she got the hang of it and could skate pretty well, providing she clung onto Yourie's arm. She refused to let go, fearing that she would fall down. After skating around the ice for a few rounds, Alora had observed that there were other D-Corp kids as well, and one she vaguely remembered. What was his name again? She thought, blue eyes staring at him.

Slowly pushing up her feet and rented skates, Sahra planted her hands firmly on the ground—er, ice. She could feel the cold through her gloves, it wasn't bad, but it made her shiver. "My butt's going to be frostbiten by the time we leave tonight." Her voice was hoarse, and her green eyes were narrowed. "The ice is a worthy opponent, eh Re?" That had to be it; she needed to think of the ice as an opponent she was trying to defeat. What were it's weaknesses? Did ice even have weaknesses? Probably not.
Bouncing gleefully around the cat, Ephrem was sure a sight to see. He was acting absolutely and completely nothing like himself. He had a bad, bad sugar/caffeine buzz—Mom had gotten him hooked on Expresso, and he wouldn't stop drinking it. It made him all happy, and weird. For once Sahra was more afraid of him being to sociable than to tempermental.
"Oh hi!" Ephrem came to a screeching hault, his claws leaving fine lines in the ice's surface. He was looking directly at Nero. "Who are you!? Do you know Srra? Hi!" He slithered his way over to the potential stranger, shoving his face in his with a particularly thrilled looking grin. Creepy.
Sahra stood, only to fall again. "Ack. I thought felines were supposed to have good balance? So why is this so hard?" She turned to look at Ephrem, but, found someone else there along with him. "Uh-oh...Re! I'm sorry—Huh? Nero?" Taking a moment to think, she blinked and stared in an utterly stupid way. "Yeah, I'm fine! Thanks...I just, don't have very good balance, apparently." Laughing oddly, she grabbed her partner by his tail and attempted to yank him backward. "Sorry, he's, really hyped up. But pretty harmless, right now..."
Cocking her head to the side—movement caught her eye—she looked toward the rink entrance to see a more children entering the ice. They looked unordinary. Maybe they were from D-Corp, too? The feline watched momentarily dazed as both the children had someone to help them skate. Why couldn't Re have helped her like that? "Ree!" She frowned. "Leave people alone and help me, please?"
Nope.

Suddenly there was a dragon's face directly before his own, and he felt all of his entire body set afire with adrenaline. Dragon. DRAGON. He reeled backward slightly, stumbling rather gracelessly on his skates and waving all of his arms in an attempt to steady himself afterwards. His tail no longer provided any assistance, as it now was curled upwards in the defensive position. "A-ahh..!" His heart was hammering in his chest, "I-I'm... I-I-I-I'm N-Nero a-a-and-and I m-met her wh-when when I w-was l-little.." He offered, every last stuttered syllable drenched with nervousness and uncertainty.
He had managed to regain his balance by the time Sahra pulled her dragon away, and let out a deep yet shaky breath. Who would have thought a dragon-rearing D-Corp teen could still fear dragons? He smiled meekly, "O-Okay. G-good..." He frowned down at his skates, "Y-yeah, it's a-a lot h-harder than i-it looks." His brows furrowed momentarily before he looked up, eyeing the restrained dragon uncertainly once more, "I-It's o-o-okay." His smile grew a little more confident as the fear flushed out of the timid teen. "Y-you sh-should meet mine... K-Kei's j-just mean, th-though." He shrugged and gave a roll to his larger set of eyes- and then he was looking over at whatever she was looking at, perking up a bit.
What was going on..? He eyed some other strange children- ohh, D-Corp kids. He was certain of it. He pondered going over to examine them as well, "Hmm."

Taren was still rather unsteady, to him skating with just one blade seeed rather silly, it seemed much easier to walk places but everyone else was doing it and who was he to question all these people?...even if most of them were falling over alot of the time. But he was getting the hang of it, clinging to Tempest's hands with his own large clawed appendages he was making his way round in an odd sort of shuffle skate ignoring completely his supporting figures instructions to stretch out his legs more. If he moved his legs to far apart he could just feel them sliding out of his control. the shuffle was a much safer option.
And he couldn't help but help peering out over his scarf and through slightly misted glasses at the other D-corp kids around him, and the dragon. The dragon kept drawing his eye, it was long with no wings or back legs, like his was going to be? That's what he had been told anyway and dragons fascinated him, maybe it was just somthing born into him but even with all the sharp teeth and claws they failed to install a large amount of fear in him, they were animals and he liked animals, if you gave them a pat and food they all seemed to like you.
The dragon wasn't the scary one here, oh no, it was the other kids, no telling what they might be like and they all seemed to be able to do strange and highly alarming things, esspicaly the bigger ones, like those two. He wanted to stay away from them and even with his shuffle skate he manged to guide himself and tempest past at a safe distance. But then he also spotted Alora. He knew her! It was a little thrill to recognize someone like that, from the beach, they had shared chocolate buttons. That meant she was already someone Taren would remember, they would have even had lunch together if his mother hadn't been called away. Maybe he should go over to her. As it was he offered a tentative little wave but it only lasted a split second because as soon as he let go of Tempest he felt unnsteady so of course clung back onto her for dear life and stopped dead for a few moments gaining his full balance again.

"So." Yourie began, peering around and spotting other... strange kids with animal traits. "They're from D-Corp too?" She questioned, brown eyes looking at the dove as they twirled around the ice.
"Probably." Alora replied softly. She really was getting the hang of this, but still. She wasn't going to let go. Wings fluttered softly as she noticed Tarn's wave, which she answered with a tentative smile and a short wave.
"I've got a lot catching up to do." The teenager grumbled, feeling the girl's clasp on her loosen slightly. "So go skate over to them!" Alora's eyes widened and shook her head, grip tightening. She wasn't scared of the dragon, or meeting anyone else. The dove was afraid of saying something stupid that would embarrass her, or even slip on the ice.

"No, no, can't Srra, there is more interesting stuff to do!" Effortlessly yanking the end of his tail from his partners grasp, Ephrem quickly reared around, catching the newcomers in his gaze. "People!" He squeaked, slithering off and skidding down the ice.
"Oh great." All she needed: the potential of someone getting run over—or rolled over. "Re get back here!" Pushing herself back up to her feet, she shifted her feet both to inward angles, giving her better balance. Digging the blades into the ice to better steady herself, she could only watch as her partner charged off to investigate, and hopefully, do nothing more than that. "He's a handful, I swear." Sahra's voice was bitter, "I'm making sure he never gets buzzed on caffeine again. I like him better grumpy." She couldn't help but giggle.
She looked over to Nero, only hoping that Ephrem wouldn't do anything stupid. "So Kei's your dragon's name? Hm, mean, eh? Re's actually normally quite nasty, too. But right now he's as harmless as a drunken puppy." Nasty, she wouldn't even think of letting on some of the things Re had done to those that ticked him off; better left unsaid. Untangling her feet, she took a few slow slides forward, eyes now planted on Ephrem's general direction.
Ephrem had caught wind of someone's gaze, and as soon as he saw the little (to him) strange looking thing looking at him, he raced over to greet it. "Hullo!" He chimed excitedly, coming to a complete halt close to a young boy hiding behind a scarf, and some strange white thing with wings. "What're you here for!?" Grinning almost comically, he constricted upward, peering down at the kid with one eyebrow raised.
Sighing, Sahra raised her hands up in the air, waving them back and forth to the other people on the ice. "Uh, hi! Sorry! Don't worry, he's pretty harmless!" She couldn't believe she was saying that—her tail slashed back and forth, making an obvious effort to balance her as she skated across the ice at the pace of a slug.

The teen watched as the dragon hurried off, blinking once or twice before smiling and giving a shrug to its partner. "Y-yeah, I c-could guess s-so." He wondered what it would be like to have a dragon with so much energy- he was aware this one normally wasn't like that, however he had seen some that were. Sure, they seemed to be a real handful, but they were probably much better than what he had to deal with right now. Several hundred times better, really.
"Y-yeah.." He responded slowly- Kei was unfortunately his dragon. He cringed slightly, glancing around as if the dragon would erupt into the room at the sound of his name. "K-kei is... Something e-else, al-alright." He shook his head slightly. To say Kei was mean was an understatement- well, perhaps he wasn't truly "mean." He was more cruel and manipulative, with a dominating streak in him. He took pleasure in others displeasure, and thrived off of discord. Physical and emotional harm were embraced as if they were a form of candy- and his partner no longer had any ability to control him. He was small, Kei was huge. He was timid, Kei was monstrous.
Nero began to skate along towards the poor boy who had been chosen by the dragon next, and right as he was about to reach them, he did exactly what the children seemed to fear happening to them. He mis-stepped, and ended up flying backwards, landing on the ice headfirst. CRACK.
He was still for a moment, staring about with a dazed impression, and then he sat right up, seeming completely unharmed. He looked around sheepishly, trying to untangle his tail from his legs. Smooth, Nero. Very smooth.

Taren looked taken aback as the dragon started to rush or rather slide towards his general direction, giant looking claws making gouges in the ice and those eyes were undoubtedly resting on him. He backed up, even for someone who was rather fond of dragons would be intimidated by somthing at least twice as big, (at least length) to them. Taren though soon peered out as the hyped up dragon skidded to a halt in front of them, his eyes going wide as saucers under those magnifying glasses as he stared up at the creature with open awe. At least he wasn't as big as some of the other dragons he had seen. "hello, Misterrr drr..ragon." he stuttered slightly and as usual when he was shocked, or nervous he stumbled over the 'r' sounds in words which he had always had a problem with.
He hadn't even realized that he'd let go of Tempest to look up at the dragon, balancing perfectly well on his skates, standing at least, but if possible his eyes got even bigger as something in the small mole boys memory clicked. 'Lindworms don't get as tall as the other dragons, but they're long. And they are wingless with only one pair of legs,' Taren twisted slightly to look at Ephrem's back, no wings, he looked up and down the dragon from the front, long, but only two legs. "Lindworm!" he chimed delighted, suddenly Ephrem seemed like the best dragon in the world, so strong and powerfully looking but now at bulky and scary as some of the others. "Just like my egg," He squeaked in delight. "You're the best dragon." he told the other quite serious not normally one to make any pride he had clear but he felt a small swell of it thinking his dragon might be like him, also the dragons character reminded him of a certain hyperactive d-corp horse boy he was with who he had liked alot upon meeting.
Tempest mean while had skated over to the struggling Sahra to offer a hand. "Here, come on you'll never get anywhere like that, you've got to run in skates not walk on the, turn your blades straight, bend your knees slightly and try again," she instructed holding out a hand for steadying support as she watched Taren and the dragon carefully, she wasn't to fa away but she trusted the dragon not to eat him or anything for now.
That was untill Nero hit the ice with a tremendous crack and Taren jumped, suddenly realizing he had no support as his arms windmilled he went for the nearest stable thing he could find wrapping his arms around that support tightly clinging to him with his eyes closed. Ephrem.

Alora squeaked, holding on to the teen's arm to keep from falling as the dragon skidded up to them. "Oh my." She heard Yourie mutter some curses under her breath. "It's freaking big." It wasn't good that she remembered that the dove was going to bring home one as well, and at that thought, she emitted a groan.
Alora however, thought it was pretty cool, seeing a dragon up so close. Sky-blue eyes stared up in wonder at the lindworm as she tried to remember what she had read up on it. "Uh?" She stumbled slightly in shock as the other D-Corp stumbled right in front of them. "Are you...are you alright?" Her attention was diverted to him, and she peered down at him worriedly. Beside her, Yourie made quiet 'tsk tsking' noises.
Ah, so Taren's egg was a lindworm? "Mine's bronze." She offered silently, then realizing she sounded stupid, butting in like that, ducked her head with a sheepish smile.

Sahra couldn't help but scream...in her head. To much was happening at once, to much for her to completely contemplate. "Wha, what?" Snapping out of a momentary mind-shutdown, her eyes were wide, etched with a hint of confusion. "Run? Why the heck would I run in skates? That doesn't make any sense."
Coming to find that her trashing tail provided her more balance that she thought, the cheetah twisted her head around to look at the stranger that dare speak to her. She giggled. "Who the heck are you, anyways?" Sah decided to take some of the thing's advice, and turned her blades straight, only to struggle and nearly fall; again. Reaching out with her gloved hands, she grabbed the strangers outstretched hand for support.
Happy (for now) to have so much attention, Ephrem raced around in circles, his coils flexing as he, oddly, bobbed his head up and down to some strange tune he was humming. He didn't catch much of what the weird looking short-kid said, but one thing he did recognize. "You're right, right! I am the best." The lindworm gave his toothy impression of a smile, looking more like a death threat than anything else.
Ephrem squawked when the boy grabbed him—he was accustomed to being touched by anyone other than his girl, and maybe a few others. He whipped his head around, staring at the boy, but with a pup-ish tilt to his head. This kid said he was the best, so he couldn't be all bad? Shrugging, the dragon decided to take no more notice of the kid.
But in place, his eyes fell upon another, another victim. Slithering off along his way, he pulled the boy along with him—if he chose to let go, that was his choice. Coming up behind Nero, Ephrem lowered his head towards the ground, just at level with the boy. "Need a hand?" He said, voice a bit calmer. His caffeine buzz might have been beginning to wear off, or, well, who knew?
Opening his muzzle, he grabbed the back of Nero's shirt in his teeth, and gently yanked him upwards.
Blinking oddly, the cheetah's eyes were now planted on her dragon. Was he actually helping someone? That was a rare occurrence. "And you couldn't have helped me earlier..." She mumbled to herself under a heavy sigh.
