There were many more canine faces these days, not as many as before, but more than a few weeks ago. It seemed that the great spirits were returning to guide the new generations, a good thing, a good sign. It meant new life for the tribe, because not all of the wolves coming into the area were bonded yet.
Days like today it was almost hard to spot the "alpha", fresh snow falling with the full onset of winter. Her pale fur made her blend in almost better than the winter hares. None the less, she was bound to her responsibilities quite happily. Sika roamed the borders of the pack lands now actually, searching for herbs to help Tahja make her medicines. This time of year it was especially important, and her sensitive nose and thicker pelt would let her find it where humans could not.
Now where was that plant?

Kapik headed on her way, now an adult , she had more freedom and had more confidence to roam around. The fresh snow was starting to fall, making it hard to see in the wintery mist as she could see a distant figure in the mounds of snow. It seemed to have blended in with the snow, like it was a ghost lost.
She hadn't really met any other faces around the Nourthern settlement and was eager to see who this figure was, hopefully it wasn't anyone harmful. She took steps forward towards this figure, her brown fur probably stood out as she let out a bark, coming in the form of a "Hello"
Waiting for a reply, her ears flickered back and forth and her tails swayed to and fro.

Sika straightened abruptly. Ears twitching, gray eyes sought out the source of the call which was impossible to miss in the stillness that the snowfall naturally brought.
She took a few steps closer, pausing her herb hunt for the moment in favor of finding out who the stranger in the flurry mist was. Ahh, not a face or scent that she recognized for sure.
Sika nodded her head cordially, responding in kind.
"Hello yourself, can I help you?"
She didn't use a tone that implied she was suspicious, though no matter the tone, her question was a bit to the point. She was polite about it though, and genuinely curious. As a member of the village here she took it upon herself to offer a friendly face to those who might be in need or seeking shelter.

Kapik jogged a bit forward as the figure now seemed to take shape. It's was a female dog, and by the looks of it she was a bit tough.
"Um.. I don't need help, I was just a bit bored and as soon as a I caught the linger of a scent... well I just wanted to make a new friend... that's all."
She replied as the stopped a few feet away form the white femme. "My name is Kapik and yours?"

Sika immediately relaxed her posture at the other's uncertain response, assuming it had something to do with the way that the older female had presented herself. If she looked tough, it was only because she miscommunicated her intentions.
"I see, well, my name is Sika." She smiled softly. "I'm from the village just a few yards that way." She nosed the general direction back over her shoulder. "I hope I didn't startle you, I was searching for herbs."

"Well it's nice to meet to Sika." She smiled as well as they femme almost disappeared as a gust of wind blew past, carring snow along with it. "Herbs?"
Why would a canine need to find herbs unless it was for a perpose other than eating. Maybe someone was injured? "I'll help if you don't mind."

The older female shook her head gently. "I don't mind at all, Kapik, that's very kind of you to offer." She smiled, then went back to nosing just above the snow. "They're for my human, and our village. She's the shaman woman there, and she uses them to make medicines for the sick. One of the one I'm looking for shouldn't be too hard to find, it smells very strong, almost like tree root. It has a thin stalk and six leaves usually."

Kapik nodded as well. "As long as I can help and get something productive done today." She didn't like to be lazy and sitting around all day. SHe had to be doing something or the thought got to her mind.
"Oh okay, I thought so." As she listened to Sika tell her about the herb she was looking for Kapik brought her nose down to the ground, still unaware of what she was looking for. Many things on the earth had a strong scent but the description was quite nice so now she had a better chance to find it.
