Sound, light, weight, pain, cold. These were the sensations that went through Telluria's mind. Sound, it was the worst of all. Birds chirping, the sound of her body liquefying the snow, even the breath from her tiny lungs ripped through her virgin eardrums for the first time in her full consciousness. Light, it too seared the soft tissue of her eyes. Weight, it strained her muscles, she dared not move, lest her fragile bones break under this sensation that smothered her body. The cold was a familiar enough sensation, but without the protection of her BCR, it was amplified tenfold. It felt like ten thousand daggers were endlessly stabbing at her small figure. Telluria let out an ear piercing screech, through the pain of the cruel world. Small tears ran down her tiny cheek, she regretted this, for as soon as they left her eyes, they froze to her fur, contributing to her misery. Was this it? Was she to die here, alone and cold, swallowed by the cruelty of the physical world?

Yuurei padded lightly across the snow covering the Akatsuki lands. His dark blue eyes shot an icy gaze threw the falling snow. He loved it . . . He was also curious about this new world outside his BCR. But there was always Kutsuu to ruin it . . .

"I can't believe you talked me into this," The black and white kit grumbled as it trudged after its older brother. "What is mother gonna do when she finds out we're not around?"

Yuurei sighed. "Can we not worry about that, Kutsuu? Aren't you the least bit interested in what this new world has in store for us?"

"Maybe, if it WASN'T below 0 degrees!" Kutsuu snapped in response.

Yuurei rolled his eyes. While doing so, he noticed a yellow and red thing in the distance. "Kutsuu, look'it that," He remarked, gesturing with a flick of his tail.

Kutsuu sighed. "What is it?" He asked sarcastically, racing up to his brother's side. "What could possible be so important that it needs me to be by your s-" He cut himself off. He saw it too. He squinted his dark blue eyes to get a better look. "It's another kit!" He remarked.

Yuurei's jaw dropped and he sprinted down the hill, his paws gracefully bouncing off the snow with ease. He raced to the kit's side and looked down at her. "Hey . . ." He began, nudging her. "Are you alright?"

"Aaargh!" Kutsuu snarled, darting off after his brother. He couldn't run across it with so much ease as his brother, but he could manage. He stood on the opposite side of the female as his brother. He didn't speak, as Yuurei already had.

Her vocal cords had been strained from her outburst, they now ached. Once more, she bared the pain to try and make more audible noise,
"Hello?" her shaky voice scratched out to the two figures.
Her eyes still burned, but she could tell they were about her age. Apparently she wouldn't be dying today. As she lay there, her body's reaction to the physical world declined, sure she still felt pain, but it was lessened.

Yuurei looked down at the female with calculating eyes. "She's in a terrible amount of pain. And the snow isn't helping . . ." He stated, his eyes flashing back up to Kutsuu. "Can you make yourself useful for once and keep a watch on her while I go find a decent hollow for the three of us?" He asked.

Kutsuu growled. "Fine." He sat down beside the female and watched Yuurei dart off like a bullet.

Yuurei knew he couldn't stay in one spot too long. That female was in great anguish. She was in the tribe too. So what was she doing out here. He violently shook his head. He could think of the interrogation questions later.

Eventually, he came across a hollow in the base of a tree, probably the bear den of last winter. He stepped into it. There was no snow on the base of it, probably because it was on the opposite side of the wind's direction. He smiled and dashed back to Kutsuu and the orange and red kit.

Once there, he directed Kutsuu to pick up the kit and follow him.

Kutsuu muttered various curses beneath his breath and picked up the kit, putting her on his back. He followed Yuurei, careful that the other kit didn't fall off him.

Once he reached the hollow, Yuurei helped Kutsuu carefully and gently place the female kit down on the floor. His dark blue eyes looked down at her. "Are you okay?" He asked.

As the male lifted her up, the cold lessened, and the stifling weight dissipated. Soon, the light went as well. Things had gotten much better in the few moments of the males' arrival. One spoke, Telluria answered, "I suppose I'll live..." said she, not directly to them, but more to herself. Her eyes had adjusted to the dim light of the cave, her eyes glowed bright red. They, her eyes, were in prime condition to feast upon the sight of her handsome saviors. "How delightful..." she muttered.

Yuurei sighed not knowing what to do. "Don't be such a pessimist, of course you'll live." He reassured, his tail flicking back and forth. "Ku-"

"No." Kutsuu said in a firm voice. "YOU are going to watch her while I find a squirrel or two." He said before running off without another word.

Yuurei sighed. That kit was a menace . . .

Kutsuu felt like an idiot. If the tribe couldn't find food, how could he find a squirrel? He dashed from tree to tree, not lingering in one spot for less than a minute.

And then he saw it. Tow furry animals inside a hollow of a tree. He smiled and clawed his up the tree. He eventually reached the hollow and snapped his jaws on the two squirrels. There was a baby too, and he felt a twinge of guilt as he killed it as well. He took the kills back to the hollow and dumped them on the ground. "Here, this should suffice," He said, placing a squirrel in front of the kit, one in between himself and Yuurei and the baby squirrel in the center of them all.

Yuurei raised an eyebrow in amazement. "Oh wow, you actually got us a substantial meal." He said with a chuckle. He looked over at the female. "Eat, you'll feel better."

Telluria's instincts kicked in now. She quickly gutted the squirrel and devoured it in a hasty manner. She was ravenously hungry. "Thank you.... what are your names?" she asked, now substantially less hungry. Telluria cleaned off her paws and muzzle, like a cat would. She had little idea where she could have had the knowledge of cleaning herself, maybe her first caretaker, who had removed her first pain of cold. Could somehow some of that foxes life energy seeped into Telluria? The idea seemed right, for she was born an empty shell, void of emotion or thought.

Yuurei glanced at Kutsuu who nodded and turned back to the female. "I'm Yuurei," He introduced with a flick of his tail. He sliced the skin of the squirrel and licked the blood away. He opened the tear and started eating. He was so precise at it, as if it was art.

Kutsuu looked at the kit as well. "I'm Kutsuu," He stated with a little hint of a smile. "And you are?" He asked, quickly catching a glimpse at Yuurei, eating the squirrel like it would disintegrate if he wasn't careful. He almost let out a chuckle.

Telluria thought, did she even have a name? Something came to her, "My name is Telluria." she said simply. Having food in her stomach had made a large difference, she could think clearly now, and the pains of the physical world almost ceased to bother her. She looked over to Yuurei, who was slowly dissecting his squirrel, "You don't have to act proper in my presence, it's obvious you are starving." then, turning back to Kutsuu, "And what of you, you too are surely hungry?"

Yuurei looked up at Telluria and licked the blood of his lips. "I don't know about you two, but I'm taking precautions. I don't want some animal or other Modifox to pick up this scent, come, and eat us as well. It's unlikely, but I don't want to take that chance." He explained, continuing to precisely eating away at his squirrel.

Kutsuu shuddered with the mention of someone finding them. "Mom's gonna kill us . . ." He grumbled and started gorging down his squirrel. He was more ravenous than he thought.

"Well the longer it's laying around, the longer the scent has to travel right?" said Telluria, as more of an unsure statement than a question. She kept to herself the paranoia of another creature finding them.
