..::Mara x Snowprint Breeding RP Contest::..
Dates: 11.22.07 to 12.01.07
Starts: 12:00am PST Ends: 7:00pm PST
Setting:
The sun was high above a wide grassy field, casting light on the dancing grass softly being blown by the wind. The afternoon was comfortably warm and the sound of a small trickling stream could be heard in the background. A tall tree lay beside the cool water, providing shade for the comfort of anyone who wished to lay under it's vast branches. Various forms of blossoming flowers surrounded the river bend of the rushing water, setting off a romantic and restful scenery filled with scents of tulips and fresh soil. Here resided two Ulayas, spending day after day together with the hopes of soon raising a family. Here is the spot where love was found and soon the children for the family of their dreams.
Ways of the contest:
Two boxes will be open for the contest, one for newbies to the thread and another for all who want to try for it. The contest will be run for just over a week and will be judged by Rayne and DE ourselves. It may take a day or more to decide on the winners so please be patient with us, this is our first RP event we've run ^^ As always, follow the rules and play nicely or I will have to sick our guard Andi on your bum! <3

Don't complain if you don't win, judging will be hard enough on us and it's just plain rude.

You may use another Ulaya in your prompt as long as it belongs to you.

Wandering away from your siblings, who are exploring the territory to be more familiar with the family grounds, you come across a big, deep, dark cave. And you hear some sort of grumbling sound inside. You, born with intense curiosity, you wonder if you should take a look inside the cave, to see what's inside. If you go inside, do you see another animal inhabiting it, or something else responsible for the sound? Or do you decide it would be safer to be closer with your siblings, and leave the cave?
It didn't take long before Rajeev realized where he had stumbled. He had been playing with his siblings, and accidentally rolled away from them. He looked at his siblings, who seemed to not notice that he had vanished from where they were playing, then to the huge mouth of the cave. Silence was all that was there, or at least for a moment. He turned to look at his siblings again, when some loud sound came from it. Jumping, he looked back at the cave, then to his siblings who seemed to not notice at all. His curiosity took over. If they couldn't hear it, then there must not be anything in there? He took a step into the cave, but backed up quickly when another noise came from it. A little more weak then the one before. He'd find what it was, and save his siblings. It was going to be a huge dragon! Yes! He snickered as he jumped into the mouth of the cave. What fun would it be to just leave whatever was inside alone.
It wasn't every day a young ulaya found himself at the mercy of a huge mysterious cave. In fact, he didn't think his parents would have let him go in if they so happened to see him. He bobbed his tail back and forth as he took one last glance at his siblings before disappearing completely into the dark cold cave. The smell in the air reeked of something that had gone rotten and just now started to mold over. The ground was wet, and he could feel drops hit him here and there from the top of the cave. His eyes had just began to adjust to the dark surroundings. The cave was any young ulaya's dream. Things to jump on, places to climb! It was like a playground, just with walls. A huge grin came upon his face, only if his siblings had come along. Though, he was sure his sisters wouldn't really like it. He had almost forgotten why he actually came into the cave in the first place.
The sound of whatever was making the noise, seemed to stop and he didn't realize that it had stopped. Having totally forgotten what it was he had been looking to find, he didn't realize that two bright peridot green eyes were watching him as he crossed slowly to the back of the cave. It wasn't as big as he thought it was. Well, wasn't that deep. "man this sucks." He said realizing that it was no fun without someone else there to enjoy it with.
Eyes continued to watch him. If he had been looking back towards the entrance, he'd notice the larger Ulaya that was there. Would be able to barely make out the long tail that slowly flicked back and forth. A huge smirk came upon the adult's face. It had been awhile since he had run into a young ulaya to mess with. Oh, the pleasure this was going to be, for him not the kit. He stood up, making a little noise hoping the young boy would catch onto his movements. It was no fun getting straight to the point and missing all the fear that went along with it. His tail continued to flick back and forth, but only slightly, as he started towards him.
Rajeev could feel the presence of another watch him. He even jumped the moment something made noise. Now realizing why he had come in there. There had been a sound, rush of memory came back to him. Now, he wished he didn't get the urge to come in here. He wished he was back with his siblings, where it was safe. He lowered himself to the ground as he looked around franticly. Trying to get a glimpse of what lurked in the dark shadows of the cave. "H---hello?" He said finally wanting to turn around and run for the entrance, but not sure he could make it. He could hear his siblings laughing and playing out side. All sound stopped as he took a back step closer to the mouth of the cave.
"Where are we going?" A very deep voice came out of no where, and something seemed to have pushed his body down more towards the ground. His eyes shut from fear of the other. What was going on? Rajeev could feel the other's claws out just on the skin. Enough to give the little guy a heart attack. Thona laughed, and grinned. "Didn't your mother teach you not to wonder in other's homes?" He asked the kit. It was always fun to mess with them. Though, he had no intention in actually hurting the little guy. Just scare him enough to satisfy him. "You might end up getting yourself..." He paused and sat down drawing his other paw up to Rajeev's neck pressing a claw to it. "Hurt." He said the last part in more of a whisper, as he was close enough to the other. Rajeev could feel the other's breath on the back of his neck. He whimpered, hoping the other would feel pity on him.
Thona lifted his paw up for a second. Sure the other wouldn't run. He seemed more like a fuzzy baby rattle. Though, you never should really underestimate your pray. He stood up and circled the little one, eying him a bit before looking else where. That was Rajeev's moment. The moment he turned away, Rajeev opened up his eyes and tried to dash for it. Though, instead of running towards the opening of the cave, he ran to the back part. Which wasn't helping. What he didn't know, was that Thona could see quiet well in the dark. He quickly turned to watch Rajeev. This made things more fun, for the leopard adult always.
Thona started to edge his way towards the young ulaya. He could practically taste the fear that was reeking off him. Rajeev stumbled around trying to find a way to get away from the other. every way he looked seemed to be blocked. Though, turning around, he could see the mouth of the cave. Oh, how it looked so beautiful. The sounds of his siblings had vanished and replaced by the sound of his own heart thumping loudly in his chest. His breathing was heavy though he tried to keep it as quiet as possible. Still, not realizing the other could see within the dark shadows he couldn't see very well. Panic was raising every second he couldn't tell where the other was. It was now or never!
Rajeev dashed out from where he though he was hiding. Though, as quickly as he did so, Thona was atop him, but not touching him. More or less just taunting him that he was faster and stronger then the young ulaya. He closed his eyes and continued to run. Though, now he felt as if he was flying threw the air. No... he was being picked up by the back of his legs. His face was brought up right to Thona's bright peridot green eyes. He snarled at Rajeev. A loud laugh came out as well. Without realizing it, Rajeev had released some of his liquid waste. That was enough for Thona. He'd never made a kit piss themselves before, but he never really tried. He couldn't stop laughing and dropped the kit.
Rajeev didn't even care about what had made the adult laugh. No, his panic rose again. Being picked up and then dropped wasn't something a kit would like. He landed on his feet wrong, twisting one of them. Getting to his feet, he quickly hobbled towards the cave before the other stopped laughing. Thona was laughing too hard to notice the little one had slipped away.

Kael sighed, watching his siblings enjoy the cool water. He shook his head, "No, I won't.. I'll be wet for hours..." He thought of the idea of him, sopping wet during a cool night, and shivered. He looked around for some kind of entertainment; a way to block out the shouts coming from the lake. He spotted it. One of mother's books, leaning against the trunk of the tree close by. He got up and, taking a quick glance at the lake, took off towards the tree, picking up the book with a starry-eyed glance at the cover. Sure, he probably couldn't read it, but he felt he was sure to know some of the words. Happily, he dragged the book back to his warm little rock and opened it to the first page. However, the gleam of the sun reflected off the pages, making it difficult. He sighed and picked the book up, waddling back over to the shade of the tree to read peacefully. Opening to the first page again, he glanced around for the first word he could read. None. He moaned and flipped to the next page. Still none. He noticed, the more he flipped through the pages, the more the sentences didn't seem to make sense. Frustraited, he tossed the book back where it had been placed and fled back to the rock, only to slide across it. He glared at his nearby brother, who snickered, sopping wet, with a trail leading all around where Kael had lain. "Why you-!" He barked, chasing his brother down to the lake's edge. Only to realize his fault. "Get him!" His brother shouted, and his siblings splashed madly, instantly soaking Kael and he sighed, falling over and waiting for the current of water to cease. Suddenly, a shadow was cast and Kael opened one eye wearily, seeing the figure of his mother over him. Before she asked, he quickly responded, "I'm fine.... "He shook himself slightly and added, "Why can't I read your book?" She laughed. "It's a dictionary." Kael blushed slightly and cowered, embarrassed. "Oh."

Why did you choose that name?: I decided on this name since the box seems so similar to the fathers coloring except its purple/white instead of white/purple and I thought Snow Haze was fitting.

Giving a deep sigh, he sat under the shade of a lovely tree and watched his siblings run about and play together. Oh he was tempted to join in the fun but being timid and shy, he decided he rather liked being under the tree watching the others play. One might find him rather odd but he didn’t care, he preferred being to himself. Ears twitch at the sound of some coming towards him that he had not noticed as he had been rather occupied in watching his siblings with amusement. Ears flicking back, he got to his feet rather quickly and backed a step in his shyness. The other ulaya was confused by his actions but slowly made there way over, asking if something was wrong. Shaking his head, he didn’t speak but by the head shake he gave the answer to the unknown ulaya. Relaxing only a bit, he eyed the other ulaya, wondering why the bothered to come over here but that wondering was quickly answered when the other asks if they may sit under the tree with him and chat. Taking in a deep breath he finally spoke but it was in almost a whisper as he never did speak loudly and hated loud noises. “..sure.” that was all he said as he slowly moved back to his spot he had been in as the other smiled at him and sat near him. Slowly he warmed up to this stranger as they started to talk with one another even if it was mostly the stranger doing the talking and him listening rather than doing a lot of talking but he was known for not talking much. Eventually with time, maybe he would get over being so shy but for now he was content with who he was and how he was, even if it meant him rarely meeting others or talking.

Kissu was lying down on a rock watching her siblings play and have a wonderful time with one another. She sighed; she was bored out of her mind. She would read a book like her mother would, but she was the flirty type some what like her father so she would only read romance novels, but to her dismay there was none just lying around. She got up and looked around; the grass was swaying all in sync thanks to the soft breeze, there was small flowers scattered here and there along with a few silk-like petals being wisped around, and there were boulders stuck deep into the earth that would make good spots for sun bathing. She sighed, not the best place to start an adventure but it would have to do.
Quietly she wandered off from the rest of her jubilant family, looking around for any interesting places she could explore, or maybe some new Ulaya she could meet and talk to. She stopped at one point and took another glance around, her siblings appeared to be ants from where she was now, atop of a gently sloping hill, yet everything still looked the same to her. She paced in a circle wondering if she should go back or not, clearly there was nothing for her to do here but there was always more than meets the eye, she just needed to look more carefully. She decided to continue embarking on her quest to find something new to her; turning away from her siblings once again she went on with searching.
Eventually she stopped dead in her tracks; in front of her was a cave, finally what she had been looking for. She gazed at it in wonder; the mouth of the cave looked inviting to her. She couldn’t describe it but it just did. She took a step forward to go inside but stopped when she heard a sudden grumble sound, she took a step back, biting her lip. Kissu began pacing in circles again, this time wondering if she should go inside the wondrous cave or go back to sitting on a rock watching everyone else.
Kissu shook her head and swallowed her fear, this cave could start the next chapter in her life. She took another step forward, but jumped back again when she heard another grumble, more like a growl this time, whatever was in there was definitely aware of her presence. Kissu sighed and sat down and thought once more, if whatever was in there was dangerous or mean, it could end the book of her life completely. She gazed behind her at her family, she could just faintly see them, and then she looked back at the cave.
Kissu sighed and got up while looking down, if something ever happened to her, her family would be devastated, and she loved her family too much to part with them any time soon. Turning away in distaste from the cave she headed back to her family, the people she cared more about then the world. She knew that by now they would be aware of her disappearance, and she knew they must be worrying about her right that moment. Kissu giggled silently to herself as she trotted back home, it felt wonderful being loved.

Mizuiro sat under the shade, of quite a large tree. He watched his other brothers and sisters play out in the sun, having fun. But him, a bit to shy to even meet up and play with his own brother and sisters. You'd think it was a bit odd, and frankly it was. Though, he didn't seem to be a big fan of the whole sun, and the heat that escaped it. He was more for the colder weather. Which didn't seem odd, since his father also enjoyed to cold weather. His pelt was made for that sort of stuff. So, as he choose, he just sat there examining his siblings.
As he examined, he heard a strange noise from behind him. At first he thought nothing of it. Until, he heard the noise again. When he looked a little behind him, he saw something purple coming toward him. He just brushed it off. He was very shy, but he didn't get frightened by strange things coming toward him. What kind of male, would get frightened by any little thing? Not him, apparently. He kept hearing the strange Ulaya make noises. Probably greetings he couldn't understand, due to the distance. But once it got a bit closer, he had been right, and they were saying greetings. He didn't think to look back at the Ulaya, it'd either meet up with him, or just leave. Unless it was one of those crazy ones that might attack him, but he had siblings here to help. Well, he hoped they'd help anyway.
Some time passed, and he hadn't heard anymore greetings. He thought the stranger might have left him alone. So, he went to look behind him, to see if they were around. He took a peek, but suddenly jumped back. As he looked into the big eyes of the stranger. So much for not being scared of anything. He then examined the, what seemed to be, a kit quickly. She didn't seem to be harmful, but most didn't. He wasn't one to judge by appearance, but he wasn't one to trust quickly either. He just stared at her, as she stared back. Only for her to let out a loud, "Hello!". Mizu just looked at her oddly. Not much of a talker, he was. Him not being much of a talker, lead him to ignoring others. Not a good trait one should have, but he did. He just turned around, going back to examining his siblings. But what he didn't know was, it was Midori who had found him. She was very energetic, and not one to be ignored. So what did she do? Why, she just sat there next to him. He just stared at her oddly. What did SHE want?
Maybe she was lost, and didn't know where she was going. Or maybe she was slow, and didn't realize that they were not her family. Either way, he was beginning to feel a bit awkward, with her just sitting there. He glanced over at her, noticing her long split tail. He didn't really think of it as odd. Since his father had a, not so usual, tail himself. Not to mention those horns he was caring around. Huh. But really, why was she here? Even thought he wanted to know, he wasn't much for asking questions either. Unless they were already talking, which they weren't. However, surprisingly, Midori wasn't talking either. And she was one of those Ulaya that would talk to anyone, even if they were about to hurt her. But she, she just sat there like a lump. Odd, very odd.
Some time passed by, with not talking. At one point Mizu even forgot, the stranger was even there. Once he remembered, he looked over at her slowly. Only to find the little kit, sleeping sprawled out on the grass. When did that even happen? He didn't even hear her make a sound. He was quite impressed with her, for that. But that was about it. Now, since she was sleeping, he didn't have to worry about her being there. Lucky for him, he thought anyway. He didn't want to deal with another. Not to mention talk with another at this moment. It might seem a bit rude for him to ignore another, but how was he supposed to know it was? He didn't, so that was what he did.
The sun soon began to set. He started to hear the calls of him parents, as they went to gather their children up. He didn't notice any other sounds coming from the other kit. He thought she was still sleeping. ut to his surprise, she was gone! When did she leave? Who knows, but she was gone. She didn't even make any sounds again. He just stared at the spot where the kit lie, until his parents called for him. He was very intruded by her sly movements. But who exactly was she? Hmm, maybe they'd meet again. Who knows? But for now, he had to get back home, with him family.
He ran off towards his parents. As the new family walked off home, all together.

And the baby dragon snuffed, surprised by the peppery flame that escaped its scaley, baby mouth... Navy blue eyes stared eagerly as the Jokoa kit read on, her mind captivated by this amazing novel and its imagery. She was so thankful her mother gifted her with this book, it really was an amazing selection. But then again, her mother always did have smart, if not good, taste. Wynter blew some warm air from her mouth, succeeding in moving her hair out of the way to continue reading. If only her glasses would be so easy and agreeable. Every few minutes they would slide down her tiny nose, and her paw was getting tired of always lifting to adjust them. Oh well, they were needed to for her to see properly.
Tiny, fluffy tail as white as snow wriggled on her tiny bum. Huh, what was that? Wynter finally turned away from her book to see what was outside. Her hind legs had been hanging out of the hole she had found in the tree, while the rest of her form had layed comfortably inside the wooden 'room'. But now...she could feel a drop in the temperature outside, enough to make her soft paw pads twitched. And she hadn't realized how late and dark it had gotten. Oh dear. Closing the book, the ulaya lifted herself up and hopped her rum inside the tree, spinning to face and peek outside. What she saw made her kit eyes widen in awe. There were snowflakes falling! Hardly little specks, but enough to be seen and felt. Much more interesting than specks of dirt. "Snow!" Furry ears lifted high in joy. But a gust of ice cold wind blew at her face, making Wynter shudder from heaad to toe. "Wuuuouuuoo~" The little girl tucked away and deeper in the tree hole, wrapping arms around her shoulders. "That...was chilly."
It was an odd change for Wynter. She was born with such a fluffy pelt, that hardly anything was cold to her. Almost like her daddy, with his soft and cuddly fur that she often curled against. But this...this was enough to make her quiver. "Is it a storm? I think it is a storm..." But she was alone in her little hide out, and it was so late. Baby eyes blinked as more snowflakes fell, before soon, her little window had changed from dark to a white filled scene. Everything was getting covered in snow! Some of the cold specks had fallen near the hole entrance, and Wynter squeaked. "My book!" She grasped at the novel and held it close to her chest. How long would she be stuck here? She could get lost fast if she dared leave. The snow would cover any tracks home, and her glasses may get foggy or dirty. Sighing, Wynter curled tightly against herself, having no choice but to wait it out.
Anxious tears sat at the corners of her eyes. She was still a baby, afterall. "Mommy.......daddy......"

Username: Jaina Eowyn Ulaya Name: Sarcheia Why did you choose that name?: I kind of combined the first few letters of her parents names and then added some other letters that sounded good with them. Gender: Female Prompt Number: #3 Response: It's a calm warm day, and your family's taking a swim in the lake. Meanwhile you sit on a rock, not far from the lake, being unsure about swimming. After some pondering, do you decide to take a dip with your family? if not, why do you decide not to? If deciding not to, what do you do instead? just sit on the rock, observing, or look around your settings? Sarcheia watched as the rest of her family leapt into the water. Her parents had decided to take Sar and her three siblings for a swim that afternoon. Sar was usually pretty fearless, but for some reason, the water scared her. She watched the others splashing about, obviously having a lot of fun.
She looked at her paws in shame. Why was she so scared of this? Her siblings were all in the water, and she usually had no trouble doing anything they did, or even something even more scary. So why this?
Sar took a deep breath and touched a toe into the water. It was cold, but she kept her foot there. She slowly eased the rest of her foot in, shivering at the chill that swept up her body.
"Just jump in!" One of her siblings called. She glared at him, but knew he was right. Taking a deep breath, she plunged under the water. It rushed over her head and she felt herself pulled under. There was no current, but her fur seemed to be too heavy, pulling her down, down, down...
With a mighty heave, Sarcheia pushed her way to the surface, bursting out of the water to suck in the life giving air. "I almost drowned!" She cried to her unconcerned family as she tried to stay afloat. One of her brothers gave her an odd look. "Sar, the water isn't even as high as you..."
Sar stopped struggling for a moment and found that she could touch the lake floor. She blushed at her folly as her mother came over to help her swim out to join the rest of the family...EDIT: Argh, it doesn't have the indents I tried to use. >.> Oh well. =P Heehee, Sar's just a bit dramatic. ^^

Ry sat upon that rock, sighing at the sight he was seeing. His parents and siblings were in the water, swimming along happily. His father splashed water at his sister, which caused her to whine and pout. His mother giggled at the sight, and Ry hung his head, sighing again.
His family was so foolish. All they did was play around, not even observing their surroundings. Sure, Ry enjoyed nature, but preferred to observe it, not disturb it. His eyes scanned the pond his family was swimming in, and homed in on a small fish. It was smallish in size, with golden-yellow scales. It swam along, opening and closing its mouth. Its gills opened every time its mouth did, and closed when the mouth closed. Its frayed tail wiggled along behind it, causing small ripples. Then, Ry’s eyes spied another water creature. It was a turtle, and it was swimming along after the Goldfish. The brown shell had an interesting pattern on it. It was like a polygonal flower, which was in full bloom. The turtle’s beaked nose poked the fish’s tail, sending the fish scuttling along. Then, the turtle swam faster, opened its mouth, and swallowed the Goldfish.
Ry turned away from the turtle, slightly wincing. Sure, it was only a goldfish, but that little display reminded him of how life truly was; the bigger ones always gobble the little ones up. Ry sighed again, looking for something else to observe. His little eyes homed in on a little red pebble in the water. It was perfectly round, shining, and had a little black swirl in it.
Ry wanted that pebble, but was deathly afraid of the water. He hated going into the stuff. A kit could easily drown in water, and death was not a pleasant thing. But he wanted that little pebble. Gah, now his mind was split. Did he want the pebble, or did he want to stay safe on his little rock perch? Oh, it was such a hard question. Plus, he didn’t want to disturb anything living in the water, but that pebble was just so fascinating. Oh dear lord, he wanted that pebble! But he didn’t want to risk anything! His face screwed up into a look of confusing frustration, and he glared at the pebble. Oh how he wanted it! But at the same time, he wanted safety!
“Look out below!” Cried one of his siblings. He had snuck out of the water, crawled up to Ry, and shouted in his ear and pushed him off his little perch. Ry was surprised when he hit the water. Then, he was just plain furious. “You idiot! I could have hit my head and drowned! I can’t BELIEVE I’m related to you! Heck, You’re probably adopted!” Ry shouted to his brother. Sure, it might have been mean, but at least it got his point across. He huffed, and sat down in the water. Huh, not even high enough to reach his head. But still, that idiot pushing him in wasn’t necessary.
Oh well, at least now he could get his pebble.
