Yeah, so, next year I'll be section leader of a ton of freshmen...'cause the drumline can't fit 'em all if they all decide to join.

Any tips so they won't think I'm evil?

Be strict and fair. Don't show off. Don't yell at them because they mess up a measure. Stuff like that. Basically don't be like my previous section leader

I just hope some of 'em don't still hate me because I'm a girl and I'm better at the instrument than them anyway. >.>

(It's not my fault they suck.)

Quite a few of the past drumline section leaders have been girls

Well, I'm not gonna be on drumline.

Eh, I get your point.
I'll just have to be a sane person.

I now what works for me. I just let them know I know what I'm doing on Tenors. I can play the pieces we need to, plus a little extra. But you can't show off a whole lot, if at all. Just be friends with them, but be force when need be.

Let them know that their opinion matters. Try not to brush them off just because they are younger and less experienced than you. They could have some pretty good ideas or suggestions.

Be a friend to them, but don't let them walk all over you.

I've been bass captain for 2 years which means I deal with every freshman. Don't be too strict, but let them know that you're experienced and know what you're doing. Also become friends with them, they trust you more if you have a good relationship. And good luck!

ALSO!!! I'm trying out for section leader this year and need a solo snare piece. Anyone have any idea as to what I should play?? Thanks so much!
