+Flight of the Valkyries: Escape from a witch+
This has more meaning behind it than just in the title. In recent events in my life, this means alot.
I know the anatomy is definatly not perfect, but this is my second attempt at drawing males in my entire life time. xD The coloring is supposed to look chalk/charcoal like.
When I finish it all, im debating on doing a background, but im completely lost on what to do. Your help on this would be greatly appreciated. ^^
Thankyou everyone.

this might be considered nitpicking, but your mythology appears to be a little misplaced. the Valkyries were a sort of the Norse answer to the Amazons. in terms of nomenclature, these ladies might be better called Furies or even Harpies.
other than that, it's a lovely start. you might widen their hips somewhat, and google for images of human skeletons for reference for the ribcage area.

Plonky the Wondercat this might be considered nitpicking, but your mythology appears to be a little misplaced. the Valkyries were a sort of the Norse answer to the Amazons. in terms of nomenclature, these ladies might be better called Furies or even Harpies. other than that, it's a lovely start. you might widen their hips somewhat, and google for images of human skeletons for reference for the ribcage area. Oh i definatly know the story behind the valkyries, but from images i have seen before they were also women with wing-like arms, and thats where i got the idea from for this, I didnt quite want to make them angels, and calling them angels would be outright wrong in this case. smile Thankyou for the tip. :3

you're still thinking of harpies. these are valkyries: http://www.digitalart.ab.ca/art/symbolism/images/ride-valkyries.jpg http://mlpeters.com/Valkyries-large.jpg http://www.bay13.net/pics/desktop/morepictures/Valkyries.jpg those last two are kind of (really) kitschy, but you get a general idea. for the sake of the actual emotion of your image as it is so far, the suggestion seems to be a sort of painful banishing or exorcising, if you will, of literal or metaphorical guilt or some like burden- memories, for instance. the Valkyries were not particularly gloomy characters- to be collected by one after dying in battle was one of the very few things a Norse warrior had to look forward in life. Norse mythology is not generally very happy, and the Valkyries were a rare light spot. anyway, furies or harpies might still be more apropos to the general direction of your drawing.

Yeah they do look more like Harpies to me. 3nodding Make sure to show us the image when it's finished!
The ribcages look a tad flat. Same with the breasts. Maybe you could add nipples. xd Iunno. I like what you've done with the feathery CG on the wings of one of 'em.
