User ImageGentle eyes peered up at the darkened sky as she gently made her way outside of the HQ. Her colorful wings folded gently by her sides as she stepped softly. She wouldn't wander too far from the small kit and Embry. Though they were both fast asleep, she had enough faith no harm would come to either of them so as long as she was close by. She could sense malicious intent before hand in any case.

Taking care of the young was always tiring. Even if this was her first time taking care of a baby, it was still tiring. But it's almost as if she had to care for one and a half with Embry around. Not that she minded. She smiled gently at the thought of caring for two children at once, even if neither belonged to her. Of course, Embry's needs were easier to figure out than those of the little baby's. He could vocally express them to her. Plus, he was a little easier to read since she's been around him.

At least it was a nice night. A bit chilly, but otherwise it was a clear forecast for tonight. She could only hope her fellow comrades were feeling the same way. Wherever they were, she prayed for their safety. Hopefully it was clear there, too.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Fate, Destiny, or what have you had a peculiar sense of humor at times, for on this dark and sporadically rainy occasion there was a Nightmare Kitsusagi wandering slowly, and painfully, toward the HQ building. She was seeking refuge from the cold and damp, for a day that had started out not so bad had quickly gotten worse. Llyr had gone to see some friends... and Khael was simply too shy to feel comfortable going. She'd thought she would go for a walk while he was out, and told him as such when he left. She liked to go out and practice walking. But this bad weather, ah, it left a burning pain along her legs from her old spinal injury, and she was closer to the HQ than to her mate's lair when it became more than she wanted to bear. But the weather was getting progressivly worse and the going even to here was slow...

She tried diligently to ignore the pain as best she could, but in spite of her efforts it was causing her to shuffle her feet even worse than she'd had to originally before she started working on it. Forced to that slow, akward gait she had to double check the space in front of her very carefully with her flickering tongue before stepping forward, because falling down when she felt like this was probably the worst thing she could do. It would be nearly impossible for her to get back up.

She paused in her steps and raised her head heavenward with a heavy sigh. "I don't sssuppossse you'd carrre to sssparrre jussst one ssshaft of sssunlight forrr thisss poorrr crrreaturrre to get sssomewherrre warrrm?" She of course recieved no reply and returned her head to the ground.

When she flicked her tongue this time, however, she got a taste of something she hadn't expected; an angelic. One she knew she didn't know and yet... somehow... the taste was familiar. Where as she'd have been nervous upon tasting anyone she didn't know in the air, an angelic made it far worse. Her people in general weren't known for getting along with the feathered ones, after all. That it registered as familiar when she didn't know who it was made nerves tip over into dread.

She lacked the urge for violence and the hatred toward angelics that Nightmaren were famous for, and she wanted nothing more than to leave the world be and to be left alone, less she could have a pleasant conversation, but rarely indeed did the world agree to let her have her way. Especially when it came to strange angelics when she was in a territory that Nightmaren normally wouldn't enter willingly unless it were to cause harm.

She was frozen there, partly by indecision but mostly by pain, no longer daring to shuffle the rest of the way to the HQ building to warm herself but knowing she wasn't likely to make it back to Llyr's lair unless he found her relatively quickly. Oh... no, no... she'd never thought the day would get this bad when she went out earlier. Not at all. She shuffled her way painfully over to some scrub on the side of the path, unsuccessfully attempting to hide herself not only behind something too small, but behind something that stood out painfully well against her white and blue pelt. Not that she was entirely aware of either because of her inability to see.

Her long ears flickered at the strange noises. Before her eyes could even see, she could hear strange noises not too far from here. And once that strange noise came closer, she could sense pain, fear, anxiety and all sorts of negative emotions. Whoever this was needed some warm shelter, and at the time she couldn't tell if it was Nightmare or Angelic.

So it wasn't until it hid behind the bush she saw. A large blue, white and black Nightmare. This was not good with Embry asleep and the kit still asleep, either. This had to be resolved without waking either, or worse, both at the same time. Even if the Nightmare harbored no malicious feelings, it would still scare the little one senseless to see a creature of her size.

Unfurling her colorful wings, she flapped her wings just enough for some lift. Even if there was non existant currents at ground level, she flew towards the large creature, landing just out of any physical assulting distances. "What business do you have here?" She asked sternly. It wasn't because she harbored hatred towards the Nightmares....No, in fact she would wish nothing more than for the two to co-exist with little differences in between, but because the safety of her friend and kit came first. Nightmares weren't known for their kindness, and she had to judge in case of any ill intents.

Khael was simply too miserable to think entirely straight. Normally she would try not to show such weakness, but she was cold and in horrible pain. Out of some instinct born of the time before she could remember she cowered behind her scrap of bush like a puppy expecting to get kicked.

"Jussssst... warrrrrrm... it'ssssss sssssso cold..." She'd never managed to conquer the hissing lisp most Nightmares were born with, but between the chattering of her teeth now that she'd stopped moving enough to keep herself marginally warm and her borderline fear it was far more pronounced than usual. "No trrrrrrouble... I ssssssswearrrrrrr... I jussssssst want to be warrrrrrrrrm... and left alone..." The last three words were spoken with more than just a mild plea as she hunched behind the scrub in an akward way that indicated a far from mild physical ailment of some kind. The angelic didn't seem hostile but... Khael was so insecure without Llyr around and in this horrible weather... If only Llyr, or maybe Valefor, were here...

The Nightmare seemed truthful enough. Her fur was damp to the point of dripping water. Plus the way she hunched over seemed as if she wouldn't pose as too much of a threat. Sai also didn't sense any ill will, and should anything happen she could always manipulate her emotions. How should she move the giant being without either Embry or the kit waking?

"There is a fireplace within, can you manage without making too much noise? I do not wish to wake the child or my comrade. I am afraid neither take to Nightmares as well as I do," she shrugged her shoulders. She tilted her head back, eyes glancing at the two sleeping figures.

If Embry woke she could easily explain the situation to him, but she feared the kit waking up more so than him. If she woke, bad things would surely follow. Sai would just have to keep a careful eye on things.

Slowly Khael stopped cowering, and straightened if just slightly. Her tongue flicked repeatedly for a moment in an attempt to catch the "flavor" of the other two the angelic spoke of.

"Therrre arrre... ssside rrroomsss... sssome of them arrre kept warrrm alssso... when the weatherrr turrrnsss sssourrr..." She moved, albeit carefully, quietly, and with a decided attention to staying out of easy reach of Sai so she could back on the path. "Lesss people go into thossse... I prrreferrr to go therrre... when I mussst come herrre." She shrugged akwardly. "Yourrr... companionsss... arrren't the only onesss who tend to be unfond of my people. Not that I blame them, rrreally... Therrre arrre few I am fond of, myssself..."

She shivered with cold, hissing softly at the pain the sudden jerking of her muscles caused. She tucked her tails around her belly in an attempt to warm herself even slightly, unknowingly ducking her head so that the scars on the back of her neck were plainly visible. Scars from where she was struck with she knew not what that had come just shy of hitting her in the right spot to sever her spinal chord all together at the base of her skull. It was a miracle twice over that she'd lived at all, much less was able to get around on her own power as well as she did. "I won't wake them... pleassse... can I go inssside?"

It would appear this Nightmare frequented this place. She was more familiar with this place than Sai was. Granted, the angelic only recently discovered this place. But if she knew there were side rooms to begin with, she would move the two in a heartbeat to those lesser frequented places. It would prove much safer there, most likely. And the kit could grow without the constant interaction with strangers who pass by only once or twice.

Her eyes caught glance at the scars. Even if the Nightmare wanted to, she couldn't do much harm to either if Sai alerted them early enough. It should be alright to allow her in, not that she required permission. Sai didn't own the place. "Oh, my apologies. Go ahead." She quickly stepped out of the way, allowing Khael to move inside.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 21, 2007 10:38 pm

Khael heard Sai move out of the entryway and very carefully made her way forward, as wary of where she placed her feet as of the angelic. Flick, flick, flick. She was very careful of the steps both up to and the one short one inside the doorway, feeling her way with particular care so she could remain quiet. She certainly did not want to go alarming the angelic's comrades, oh no no.

She brushed her shoulder against the wall briefly every few steps until she felt the opening to one of the side hallways and turned down it, steps turning marginally quicker as she approached her goal. There was a room in particular she usually went to when she came here, the one she'd stayed in the first time she was here and usually the one she'd used since.

Khael wasn't entirely certain if the angelic had followed her or not, but she swiveled her head around to face the other way, tongue flicking in an attempt to ascertain the other's position. "Therrre arrre quite a few herrre, of usss, that arrren't ssso bad. Sssome perrrhapsss to be taken with a grrrain of sssalt. Not that I would even begin to claim that therrre arrren't thossse herrre who would rrreact the way you prrrobably exsspect. I'm sssurrre therrre arrre. I've no csserrrtainty asss to who. I avoid mossst otherrr Nightmarrren. But I feel it would be ill mannerrred of me forrr the sssakesss of thossse nuetrrral or kind hearrrted and forrr you and yourrr comrrradesss if I did not tell you that it isss good to be on yourrr guarrrd, but be awarrre that not all of my people arrre yourrr enemiesss."

She followed after the large Nightmare not too soon after. Her eyes did peer back to her sleeping comrades just a few feet away. But they seemed to be deep in slumber, blissfully unaware of ones they hated so much so near.

Her ears listened with great care as Khael spoke. The words hold truth. But just as she mentioned, not all Angelics bore hatred towards the Nightmares. Sai, of course, was an exception to that rule. "I understand. I bear no personal grudge against your kind. It is circumstance that differentiate both our kinds. As you say, just as not all Nightmares hold ill will, not all of our kind bear grudges against your kind."

Embry and Seraphina were probably a little different than Sai. More so on Seraphina, most likely. She had reasons to hate the Nightmares--they all did, even Sai herself. But the angelic found no reason to hate them for who they were. Certain circumstances were unavoidable, leading to the hatred between the two races. They may have been stupid reasons, but reasons none the less.

Khael was quite for a moment while Sai spoke, poking around until she found a cushion to curl up on. With an exaggerated sort of slowness she settled down on the cushion and curled up, head swiveling around to the angelic as she finished her reply. The Nightmare was thoughtfully silent for a moment and then nodded, satisfied with whatever she found in Sai's presense and speech. "Thisss I know. A young Nightmarrren I know even claimsss an angelic forrr an adopted uncle. It isss unforrrtunate we ssseem to be the exssccception to the rrrule."

She rested her head between her paws for a moment and lifted it again. "You ssshould prrrobably move yourrr frrriendsss frrrom the frrront rrroom. I would sssuggessst a rrroom at the end of the hall opposssite thisss. Most of the otherrr kindly Nightmarrren and sssome of the not ssso kindly arrre lesss causstious than I and would not think twicsse beforrre enterrring the premisssesss."

A smile formed upon her maw. It was pleasing to speak to a Nightmare who didn't wish for destruction as the other, more stereotypical ones did. She might prove a trusty friend in the future. But it truly was unfortunate they were the exceptions to those stereotypes. If only they got along more often and in more numbers...

"Thank you for the warning. But they will be alright so as long as I am around. Should anything dangerous occur I will know before hand. Plus, I think the adult there is a rather light sleeper," She chuckled lightly. "Next time, though, I will be sure to move them there."
PostPosted: Thu Nov 22, 2007 8:34 pm

Khael nodded absently. "Therrre won't likely be anyone elssse to ssshow up forrr a while. I'd not be herrre if I'd rrrealizssed the weatherrr would be thisss bad when I ssset out thisss morrrning." She sighed unhappily. "I hope that Llyrrr isss not too worrried about me..." She didn't like to worry her mate... but he knew her condition well enough to know she'd be either here or at the Place where Valefor lived if he didn't find her at home. "He might ssshow up... looking forrr me. Jussst to let you know. He worrriesss about me, my sssweet one doesss."

She was quiet for a moment. "If it isss not an imposssition... might I asssk frrrom whencsse you hail?" That Sai's taste upon the air had seemed familiar still prowled like a discontent animal in the back of her mind. It gave her a feeling of foreboding she did not like, a hard knot settled just behind her stomach.

It was nice to know Khael had someone else who worried about her. If she lived alone Sai could only imagine the difficulty and pain she must go through. Having that other person as a support always helped, especially on the emotional part.

The topic was a fairly...sad one. The Other Realm...Home....Now they were in a strange and unfamiliar place away from home. Sai let out a soft sigh before carrying on, "We are from a different world. One far from here. To keep it short, an explosion of sorts sent us here. We do not know how to get home..."
PostPosted: Thu Nov 22, 2007 9:21 pm

Khael often wondered, aloud, what she had done to deserve so wonderful a mate as Llyr. Their adoration for one another was obvious from tone of voice alone when they spoke of eachother, but far more apparent when they were together. She wished that he was here now, just as much as she wished he was somewhere safe and warm and out of the ugly weather outside.

An Other world, though... explosions... something in that seemed familiar. Like a memory that almost was but would not surface. She was grateful that it wouldn't, in a way, because though she forgot her dreams the moment she woke up Llyr had to comfort her on numerous occasions when she woke up from nightmares of... something. "The exssplosssion isss an unusssual addisstion, but asss forrr being frrrom anotherrr worrrld... thisss one ssseemsss to be sssome sssorrrt of nexssusss. The kitsssusssagi that found me, afterrr my injurrry, that helped me, ssshe isss frrrom anotherrr worrrld. Not yourrrssss. Herrrsss wasss farrr differrrent frrrom what little I know. I have been told that therrre arrre otherrrsss frrrom many worrrldsss that have found themssselvesss herrre, forrr whateverrr rrreassson."

She listened in closely with numberous thoughts circling her head at the same time. Ones from other worlds? That was a rather interesting thought now. Where did they come from? Did any of them know of ways to return back to the original worlds? So many questions were swimming in her mind, but she felt she already knew the answers to those rhetorical questions. If there was a way to get back, why wouldn't they have returned already? Not that Sai was displeased with this world...but home is home.

"That is rather interesting information...Maybe one of them have seen a comrade of ours. That would be good to know." Her mind drifted off to more thoughts. Safe comrades...Hopefully they were out there with some good people.

"What is your name, I do not think I ever caught it? Mine is Sai. Thank you for your helpful information. This may not be my place to say...but...I feel as if you are not from this world, either?"
