Introduction

Have you ever wished something upon someone, something cruel or…mean, or even something as terrible as death?
A little girl of maybe ten years old with long brown hair with bright shinning red highlights runs into a kitchen. She slides on the linoleum floor and stops just in front of a woman of about 35 with long black hair. “Mommy, Julie and GiGi just called. Can they come over and spend the night?”
Even if the reasoning was for something frivolous and silly?
The mother looked down from the sink where she was doing dishes. “No. Not this time.” She said, then turning back to her dishes. “But why not?!” The girl shouted, angry at her mother. “Because you’re grounded, remember?” Her mother said in a scolding tone. “That’s not fair! I didn’t even hit Ethan!” She yelled, stamping her foot. “Oh really? So that big bruise on your little brother’s arm just appeared out of no where?”
“Yeah! I Swear!” The girl said nodding her head frantically. “Well then, now you’re grounded for another week.” The mother said her lips pursed at her daughters’ lies. “BUT WHY?! THAT’S NOT FAIR!” The girl yelled. The mother turned around and looked at her daughter with an angry look in her eyes. “Don’t you dare yell at me young lady. Now go to your room for a time out! And because of you getting smart with your mouth again, you have to go to bed early tonight!” She said loudly and angrily. The girl stamped her foot on the ground again and ran through a small hallway and into one of two bedrooms the hallway forked into. She slammed the door behind her and threw herself on her bed, staring to cry into her stuffed animals.
I’ll be honest with you… I have.
The girl muttered into her pillow, fumigated with her mother. “Stupid mom! I hate her! I wish she would die! She’s always so mean to me! I really didn’t even hit that stupid brat this time! I hate him too! I wish I never had a little brother!”
But usually…there’s a difference between wishing something to happen, and actually having the power to make that something happen. This is how I am different from you or any other human being. At least not to my knowledge.
Suddenly a loud “BANG” could be heard coming from the kitchen, as if the door had been forced open. The little girl sat up quickly and starred at her bedroom door. There was then a sudden clatter of glass breaking and metal hitting the floor, as if the dish rack of drying dishes had been overturned onto the floor. The little girl was scared now, it could be seen in her little brown eyes. She slowly got off her bed and opened her bedroom door. She crept around the hallway and peered into the kitchen. It was then she saw her mother wrestling a man with a knife in his hands. The little girl almost screamed in terror, but the fear had paralyzed her. She ran back into her room and opened her window. She slowly lowered herself onto the small deck in their backyard. She ran around the side of her house, her bare feet making no noise on the concrete as she ran. She ran down the street to her friend GiGi’s house and banged on the door. GiGi’s mother opened the door and saw the girls’ terrified expression. “Call 911!! There’s a bad guy fighting my mommy and my little brother is still there too!” She said in an urgent but meek voice. GiGi’s mother ran back into the house, pulling the little girl behind her and called 911.
Ten minutes later the police could be heard down the street in front of the little girls’ house. She stepped outside with GiGi and her mom and they watched as a man was pulled out of the house in handcuffs. All on the front of his cloths was blood. The little girl suddenly took off running down the street and tried to run into her house. One of the police officers stopped her. “Whoa! You can’t go in there!” He said. “But this is my house! Where’s my mommy? And my brother?” She asked frantically. The police officer suddenly looked sad. He knelt down to the girls’ level and looked her in the eyes. “Sweaty. I’m very sorry, but the doctors in there said your mommy and little brother are very sick. To sick for them to save.” The little girl suddenly burst into tears and hugged the police officer. GiGi’s mother finally caught up to the girl and pulled her away from the officer. Another officer had already informed her of the news as well. The little girl hugged her friends’ mother and sobbed hysterically.
And it is that exact power…that has lead me to this position.
